Its called "Disownership" Cats do this when the person she choses looses intrests towards her, or you bring another cat or person into the home. Another reason, of Disownership is the cat will choose the hand it feeds off, if the owner lost intrest or stoped feeding the cat and say another person started feeding the her, that cat will choose that person. It happens all the time, learn to give 6 minutes of your day to show affection to her and this will never happen.

Have experienced similar behavior for different reasons. Tried to help a kitten out, bringing her home and into my room, my little one treated me like a cheater and threatened to disown me, so I had to quickly drop her off at a safe and more likely reliable place, wash away her scent and throw my clothes in the laundry, took a whole day for him to forgive me. Tried to help another kitten recently, this time, without bringing her anywhere near his territory, still he treated me like shit, managed to win his forgiveness by night. Also he tends to follow and check up on me whenever I went over to my neighbor's house, calling me to come back home, just because I am not safe outside his territory. My neighbours call him my possessive boyfriend, probably may not allow me to have a man in my life at this rate. Given the chance, he has followed me to close but unfavorable destinations which is usually scary for me, so I have to trap him at home and make a run for it, and return asap. Can't be far from him for too long, so yeah, we kind of relate with each other and suffer from seperation anxiety. Intriguing and frustrating all the same...😅 Anyone else dealing with a relationship like this?!

He has also lost a lot of loved ones over the years. After having lost his master a year ago, my brother, he has become even more so scared of losing anyone else, and being his caretaker, I can understand his fear.
