For breather crimps you will have a better hit rate for cuts if they cut the decks sides instead of the ends so position the deck so they do that perhaps with an example. Also, I don't like hugely obvious crimps so I will put a small, maybe 8th of an inch pencil marking on the side edge near the ends. They will never notice it but you can, so you don't need to "keep track" of where it's going.

I love this trick, but sadly I don’t really want to write on my cards, or crimp them. 😂 Thanks Steven, great trick

Hey, how are you doing? I hope all is well and good👍 . I found Steve's AWESOME card trick / magic channel about a year ago, I think.😊... I had watched a bunch of his videos back then, and I saved them to watch and learn them at a later time. Every so often, I would search and find other videos that Steve made that I also saved to watch and learn at another time. Lol. I still have a lot of them to watch and learn. I guess Steve took some time off from recording videos, and then he came back, and i think he took another little break before getting his recent videos made. IDK. Im just glad that he is back because he is EXCELLENT. Don't tell him what I said, lol. While Im always learning tricks from Steve and many other great card magicians, it's nice to see when they upload their current videos and to learn their newer or older tricks, so I can learn them and perform them at the next gig. I was watching Steve perform this trick earlier this evening, and I was wondering if I had already learned it or not, and why I had not been performing it because it is really good? 🤔 Then, the tutorial started, and when Steve mentioned that he was using a crimped card, I then realized why I had never learned it and why I had never performed this trick. It has been a long time since I last used a crimped card. I dont like using that gimmick anymore. I prefer to use other gimmick cards instead. I just read your question, and I would ask that same question, too. Especially if I didn't want to use a crimped card and / or to find out if there was another type of gimmicked card to use instead for this trick that might work differently and / or better. Were there any particular reasons you asked about using a short card? I'm just wondering. To give you my opinion and answer your question, YES! You can use a short card to do this trick the very same way that Steve did it. Maybe you have already done so by now, lol. I had learned about crimped cards several years ago, and I have used them in a lot of tricks, and they worked well, but I am not very comfortable with using crimped cards anymore, for several reasons. After learning tons of new tricks and routines, more forces, more slight of hand, and new ideas, I realized that I wasn't performing any of those tricks with crimped cards. I preferred to use short cards and other types of gimmick cards to pull off the same effect, but with more confidence. You might agree that a crimped card could show a crease in the deck and could ruin the trick. Plus, why destroy a card if you dont have to? I would never have a spectator shuffle, riffle, or cut the cards when I'm using a gimmicked card in the deck. There are no guarantees that they would cut to the crimp card or the short card. I hope this was a little helpful for you. Let me know if you have any questions about my comment or about other gimmick cards to use. Thank you. Best wishes, Glen P.s. I wanted to share 2 tricks with you, and as I had typed almost half of the 1st trick, this message was sort of lengthy, and I didn't want you to get ticked off at me. Lol. I love sending long messages, but not everyone likes to read them 😮.. I had a few things to do, so i deleted what i typed. You are welcome, haaa haaa. It actually uses a gimmick card that is sort of like a crimp. I actually like that idea, a lot. I do a trick while using this gimmick. You might be interested. I wanted to share a 2nd trick w you, but I would still be typing that book, and i got busy. The 2nd trick uses something other than a gimmick card to help us cut to a selcted card, lol. It is a very common thing. I will share these with you tomorrow and later this week if you are interested. I won't have to type half of a magazine, lol. Let me know. Take care.

Hey there, I just sent you an awesome message, 😅. I wanted to mention that if you want me to share those tricks with you, I would be glad to do so. When i said the first trick uses a gimmick that is sort of like a crimped card, and that I actually like it and use it, other cards and gimmick cards can be used for this so- called sort of crimped gimmick. It actually works better than using a whole crimped card. Hope you can reply sometime. It's cool to know other magicians. I've been drumming my whole life too, and I enjoy meeting other musicians, learning about different gear and swapping ideas. Thanks, Glen Be well.

What if they don't cut to the force card? You successfully managed them so they get the force card break in the middle, but they miss it. You don't see the black dot. Then what do you suggest?

Great question. Get them to cut until they do. Makes it look more impossible if they cut more than once.

I love this method I normally dont use breather crimps in the hands of the spectator because its not always a hunderd percent accurate and i am realy scared of failure but now with the black dot i will never have this problem Again. Thanks to you i will be a wayyyy vetter magician then before! Thank you Steve !

It is not a 100% safe method. they can cut on the other hand. Let's suppose that the card is in position 26, and the viewer cuts by 30 cards or 24 or 24, I do not give up, if I do, it should have another effect prepared in case it fails, I think that a force cut would be easier , it is my opinion, thanks
