This Came Out Instead of Thrasher 2? Dave Mirra Maximum Remix Review
Ойындар
A lot of you guys have asked me to play Dave Mirra in the past, and I finally got around to it. This is Dave Mirra BMX: Maximum Remix on the Playstation. It was made by the same guys who made Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, so it was pretty interesting to see what they might have come up with next. Great game on its own though. Check out the full review!

It still sucks, that Dave Mirra passed away last year. So sad. :(
Shit, I'm not complaining! It got me hooked into dirt jumps at Woodward, and sublime at a very young age! 😎😎🤘🏻
dave mirra freestlye bmx 2 was really good

Yep, its pretty similar to the first but they perfected it imo. A lot of the issues were dealt with in that game. Much more varied environments

lol i just went back and played it after i made my comment, maaaybe "perfected" is a bit strong but it's still a better game than the first.
We need a Skate 2 quality BMX title. Something that uses a good physics system to ground players, combined with a good trick system.

Me and my brother got into Dave Mira on PS1. I will never forget when he proceeded to setup a dirt jump and attempted a backflip. In the game it looked so easy, but in real life my brother ate crap... LOL

@@Pottled_Benis I used to jam out to Introduction to Mayhem all the time back in the day. Actually not even that long ago lol
I liked this game quite a bit on Dreamcast but i LOVED Dave Mirra 2. At the time, the levels were incredibly huge including a Woodward level with all sorts of mini-parks and even hidden parks inside buildings. The level editor was good from what i remember. RIP Dave Mirra.

Dave Mirra 2 I remember getting frustrated with the first level, on an objective where you had to land?/grind on light/lamp posts, finished pretty much the rest of the game, before going back and finishing that objective.
I was a skateboarder growing up and not a BMXer but this game was arguably more influential to me. It came with the soundtrack CD which I listened to constantly (and was really good)
I still love Thrasher! I play it all the time. I would love a sequel or remaster.

The same dude! This game was just amazing because it has a real street view of skateboarding. They have to do a new one or just a remaster as you say.
Dave Mirra Freestlye BMX 1 and 2 were one of my all time favorite PS1/2 games! RIP Dave! Awesome memories!!
talking shit on dave mirra SMH this was our tony hawk. yall had 27 skate games let us get one broh

Hi Charlie!
I loved this game so much. Never knew there was a remix. Great video bro :)
Still can't believe it's been 3 years since we lost Dave mirra.
Thrasher skate and destroy it was one of my all-time favourite games. I still hold faith that one day they will make a second skate an destroy
That bass solo in maxwell murders though. Damn. Am I right?
I’ve had the first version of this game for as long as I could remember, I grew up playing that game. I never even knew the Thrasher game existed, I would’ve played that just as much if not more
As a skater I still loved playing Dave Mirra 2 that game was so fun. And even got me into bmxing a little. But never got into bmxing though. It’s way harder then skating. And I loved that the Dave Mirra games all had rag doll physics 😊
I liked this game a lot. It took some practice to get timing and flow down but ince you did it was really fun
No mention of the brilliant soundtrack? Mate, I still blast that shit!
I grew up around a bunch of older teens who were super into bmx. They absolutely loved this game because you can create pretty much any trick you can think of
I loved Dave mirra freestyle bmx on ps1
As a thps player this game was kinda challenge but once i figured it out it turned out to be a lot of fun
Thanks for reviewing this! The Mirra series is such an understated standout. Can't wait to see what you have to say about Woodward (imo one of the best action sport game maps of all time)
The regular game was childhood, i love that game cause i love bmx, and now i realize that there's another edition WITH MORE LEVELS?! I'm so happy
Dave mirror was an amazing experience such a good game ,I still play them now
Never really thought about why there was no Thrasher 2.
I remember in Dave Mirra 2 on GameCube, if you fell off your bike and ragdolled, you could hold Y to "grab" onto nearby ledges/surfaces with your limbs. Which respawned you at the top of where you were hanging rather than at the bottom where you would of fell to. Also you could do a huge air then press all the face buttons plus L+R to deliberately ragdoll.
i had fun with the thrasher game..the prewind and release tricks just took some time to master
I honestly had fun playing this on my emulator. Would have loved it more had I appreciated it in its time. Great Review Rad rat!
Dave mirra freestyle bmx was my childhood. Soundtrack was so good
I remember liking that Dave Mirra game when it came out, and liked the music at the time. Some of those tricks were aggravating though. RIP Dave
Man.... I played the hell out of both Thrasher and Dave Mirra and I never noticed how similar they were. It seems painfully obvious now looking at them both.
You should review Rolling for PS2, a very good THPS like rollerblading game
I remember buying Thrasher for like 3 bucks at EB Games in 03. Got it cause of the Rockstar Logo on it and was intrigued.
I had Dave Mirra and it was actually really fun. It was about the same amount of fun as Matt Hoffman looking back.
Wow had no idea they made Dave Mirra instead of thrasher 2. That’s insane however I did play this game like crazy. OST is awesome
I still play this on Dreamcast. I'm shockingly good at it.

@@HALberdier17 I remember playing the Demo on my brothers Dreamcast, as I recall it was one of the indoor skateparks at Woodward Camp, then I bought Dave Mirra 2 when I later bought a GameCube and Woodward Park was a level in that, with the indoor skatepark as a tiny fraction of that level.
Riders Republic and BMX Streets (2017~) would blow your mind out, in regards to BMX physics.
This game introduced me to sublime. This soundtrack was amazing

I don't like them that much but it's the only track I really remember. I played way more THPS I guess
Really great game to be honest. I loved the amount of content they draw out of each level with the three levels of challenges.
It had Maxwell Murder and that´s pretty much all I needed to be happy when I played it back then
I loved Dave mirra BMX so much. It's actually on par with skate for me I love it that much.
You have to try matt Hoffman pro bmx. It has way better flow
@seanylewl
6 жыл бұрын
It accomplishes that by just giving the bike skateboard physics though. It doesn't give you the BMX feeling, and it doesn't give you the skateboarding freedom; it just sits in between as a purely arcade game.

No it doesnt. The camera sucks
Play Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2. They fixed a ton of the issues and it is a wonderful experience.
A modern BMX game would be amazing
It would be cool to see one of your review about BMX XXX, not a good game at all,but I'm looking forward seeing you talking about it. Awesome channel
The second one was even better. RIP Dave Mirra
This game looks fucking sick! Thank you for the upload!
Oh man, the nostalgia just punched me in the brain
360 One-footer Barspin Toboggan Backflip
Instill have that remix cd in my house. It’s all scratched and covered in root beer though :(
The one thing I'll add to this is that the Maximum Remix is a more harder version of the original version, as I just notice that the Amateur challenges in this ver is the pro challenges in the original ver and the pro challenges is the hardcore challenges in the original but it also has some changes too. But yeah this is definitely better than the original ver but some might say it's challenging for those who has not played this type of game. Also I actually 100% completed the original one while this ver I am trying to complete it at the moment.

And I just now notice from your video is that the medal rounds in the original game is now a task type gameplay (I have not played those levels yet in the maximum remix ver)
once you get use to the controls you can do a lot of cool tricks
I love this game so much. 2 was great too
Great game review as always! I played a lot of matt hoffman´s pro bmx back then. I remember it to be pretty solid :D.
I remember, when i'm playing two PS1 BMX games. Dave Mirra, and Matt Hoffman. DM was good, but the steering was weird. MH was much, much better game! It was like Tony Hawk, but on the bike.
Oh man, I just got up on my timeline that it is 4 years since we lost Mirra, and suddenly this comes up as recomended
I’m gonna have to check it out, I remember playing Downhill Domination and that got me into bmx as a kid.
That soundtrack was pretty cool
holy shit, no wonder i loved the second one so much
Very fun game.
6:54 That's actually my biggest complaint about the Skate series...
I loved this game played it for ages
i used to play dave mirra on ps1 all day everyday
I fuckin loved thrasher, me and my buddies back in the day preferred it over thps. The soundtrack is really good and the skating is more realistic
LOVED this game
This game was so tight!!!
Respect to Dave Mirra, salute
That grinding four light posts challenge pissed me the fuck off in high school. Almost threw the game out. Lol.
Crushed that Maximum Remix wouldn't get the Dreamcast touch.. man do I love how they re-used older levels too but even more challenges! And the new ones and new tunes were pretty too just very edited shortened Dave Mirra Dreamcast is a fucking riot though!!! They jus put the unmolested musics no censoring haa
@mistamontiel00

BUT a super fuckup to Maximum Remix it's jus.. it costs four fucking blocks as much room for save as, Gran Turismo 2!? Not only that just the overwrite it makes you fucking wait.. stupid progression bar moves slowly all time
I remember playing this game all the time as a kid, the controls are awful, but once you figure it out you can get some good combos going
This is the best game ever, loved it :)
Rad Rat missed that in this game you gain momentum and when ure in a halfpipe you jump a couple of times before you got enough air for more advanced tricks, you didnt need a better bike for that trick
Add in a spin and you’ve got a stew cooking haha
That "grind four light posts" mission. FUUCCKK. I almost threw that game out because of it.
You should review Dave Mirra BMX 2. It may be the best BMX game ever
Best game ever I wanted to be a bmxer but couldn't afford a bike. So I got into skateboarding as it was the closest I could get.
watching this in 2020 i am wonering what Rad Rat would say too bmx streets pipe.. its on a bike, unpolished, buggy, difficult and basically an alpha. but the sensation i get when nailing a big combo or insane trick is only matched by early thps games and the skate series!! it still is on a bike... but i really can see the potential!
I got this game after tony hawks 2 and it only took me about 2 hours to uninstall it and go back to THPS2. It was fine, it just wasnt as fun as TH games. My brother who introduced the game to me had it installed for about a year but we never played the thing. We did love the idea that the special combos etc highlighted the route. I was really hoping theyd introduce it to the Tony Hawks games but wasnt really surprised when it didnt happen (the VC transfers you mentioned is a perfect example).
I put so many hours into this game every single time I broke a bone and I couldn't ride my bike I was inside playing this game you might have to get my surgery on my knee could not ride BMX for 6 months doctor said well I waited about 3 but yeah all I did was play this game crazy part I still do I downloaded it onto my Kindle and bought a Bluetooth controller still killing it
What happend to kirby from deathwish?
Other game you could try out on the original Playstation are TJ Lavin's Ultimate BMX or Cool Boarders 2001. Both are kinda challenging, but TJ Lavin's was frustrating at some point.
nice! love your videos keep it up!
RadRat, you NEED to review the second one. I personally need you to do that. How much money you need?
I remember playing dave mirra on ps1 and i tell ya game wasnt too bad premise wise but the controls took time to get used to and the bugs where sometimes you do a jump and the rider bails mid air or you grind and the rider bails
this game rules, i remember to get for ps1, one cd for matt hoffman, dave mirra and a third crap game Dave mirra is way more realistic to create tricks, if you stop to think, BMX needs this kind of style to play, you can actually mix a lot of tricks together great game, also it has a dave mirra 2 for ps2
wow men i didnt knew that thanks! i used to love play trasher when i was young!
i have fond memories of this game but it was one of those games you had to dial up to look up a walkthru or ask a friend. without that it was very easy to get stuck

never heard about the expanded game. don't know why I only remember sublime's song out of the music though. Really couldn't tell you any other songs
Dave Mirra 2 was perfect
Dave Mirror Dave Mirage
Rip Dave Mirra this was a good game..
I own Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2 and its pretty decent. You should give that game a try :P.
Wauw this is the only ps1 game that has ragdoll physics that i know of and to me its vry important especially in sports games.. Its just askes for it. Somerhing i always missed in tony hawks pro skater series.
hey, since you did Dave Mirra 1, do you think youd be able to do Dave Mirra 2 and the other Activision 02 games?
Where’s the review of Skate 2 & 3? Really want to know your opinion on them
Lmao "and now you got a stew cookin" is than an arrested development reference?
