Don't forget about the sexy possibility of building a nydus in your proxy base and evacuating all the drones if you know basetrade is about to happen. Just feels so annoying to have idle workers otherwise.

Hindsight: place a creep tumor in the main base when the hatch/lair was going down, turn a couple overlords into droppers, to get the queens and drones out. Even slow ones can get the drones out and back to work.

Droppolords could have saved all those drones in the main, but decided to just leave them there

A dropalord or a Nydus in the first game would have allowed you to evacuate your main base.

@@Broockle Having 30 idle drones and then loose them instead of using them is a better play, sure. The price for a nydus/dropalord is recouped in 10 seconds if you do it. And you get better eco for more mutas. Great logic there.

@@dyg107 You really can't get caught up in this kind of minutia during a game. You see you have 3 base vs 1 and they got no anti air. Just rush for the solution. What if you rush Nydus and the terran decides to kill all the drones before you get to them? That would be a disaster. Rushing Muta was safer.

@@Broockle of course you can get caught up in the minutia. That's the whole point of improvement. Morphing a dropalord is less than a minute and the price is low.

During that cannon rush I was pretty much shouting "KILL THE PROBE." Would have saved you so much heartache.

Same, especially when he pulled all those drones to defend the low ground and basically had a free surround on the probe at the bottom of the ramp on the way to the cannons

It's actually really hard to kill a probe with drones if they have good micro to just run around making you waste mining time with a conga-line of drones futilely following the little prankster... But yeah he needed to take the cannon rush more seriously and pull a lot more drones a lot faster. At least 3 on every single building that is warping in, I think. and at least 1 on the probe. Maybe some to patrol-block.

U thermal, tq for the videos, I grew up in South east Asia a very small and remote town but has access to SC 1 and my friends and I played sc1 in a manner just like yours, enjoyable and fascinated, like what u demonstrating now, tq.

16:22 Oh no! You even called it perfectly! You had enough time! As soon as you saw that probe trying to cannon rush you should have pulled just a few more drones and properly made sure you stopped those cannons going up. You would have been so far ahead - cannon rush was his only shot!

That burrowed ling on every base was a 200 IQ move! Very nice! Just making sure you're definitely ahead and he's not mining anywhere else. ;)

I wonder if there is any potential in taxiing stuff from a proxy into their main with dropperlords, they could even generate creep for tumors or spines... Anyways great video! Loved the base trade!

Hey uThermal couldnt you rush lings and burrow before someone expands to their 3rd and put a single burrowed ling at every base forcing the opponent to spend on a overseer / raven / scans? The cost to them to see the burrowed lings might be more than what the upgrade and lings cost. Might not work so well with protoss since an observer is standard.

Incredibly cool first game, very nice.

uthermal could have done one of Neuro's tactics of expanding another hatch elsewhere into the map and making his 2nd hatch his new main and it would have made that cannon rush a useless rush

Your drones could have blocked the cannon rush probe at a few spots, sucks that you didn’t have the realization to do that instead of trying to take down the cannons (that you ultimately didn’t kill) but it was an awesome game!

I feel like at any point after the trade in game 1 it would have been very useful to get ventral sacs first instead of a spire so that you could airlift your economy to safety, especially since you're saving for a ton of mutas anyways its not necessary to have it available immediately

Why not get the drones out the main base with overlord drops ^^?

i rememebr maybe 13 years ago watching a really sexy burrow play on youtube in broodwar. and then seeing a sexy dark templar play. immediately tried both. the results were astounding and i remember the opponent in my dark templar strategy game was super impressed by it. sadly i have no idea what those videos were. as for burrow, i think burrow banelings are quite underused.

I hoped you were going for lair to build dropperlords or nydus to save the drones from the main.

You can get overlord carrying ability to ferry your drones over the cliff to escape the main.

nydus to evac the drones could've been nice first game second game I'm sad you didn't push the burrow roaches further - your micro is way good to not try. Florencio does such burrow roach from proxy in the opponent's base and when it works it's spectacular

Pretty sure if you burrow close enough to a geyser a refinery can't be build there, anymore. Don't know how much confusion this might cause among higher mmr players but probably enough annoyance.

If you fight against a terran as zerg can you neural infect a scv and switch to terran?

I'm pretty sure you could've broke the tank position before he moved into that corner...? You have a lot 30+ lings on both sides of his army and 30+ drones to sacc, while he has maybe 10 marines and 3 tanks that will probably help you kill marines.

8:38 This is so many drones just trapped in your main base. You're still very far ahead because of the gold base, but I would have quite liked to see a quick Nydus go down at your gold, then when it finishes pop a Nydus in your main to evacuate all the drones and then they can resume mining at the base next to your gold. I'm still watching, I don't know if all these drones die yet...maybe they do.

you missed the housekeeping on your main base going down: Spawning pool should be rebuilt at the gold in anticipation of it dying in a minute or so. That spore needs uprooting so it doesn't bleed out, and your Lair needs rebuilding at the gold, also. I like that you got a Spire down just before you lost your first Lair, though. Very wise!

I think he had enough time and resources to get both. That Lair is definitely going down in a few seconds, so if he's quick he gets those structures to start building just before it does, then he gets to keep the tech.

"Technically I think this should be good for me, if someone makes a forge against my macro proxy hatch". Things I never thought I'd hear a Starcraft player say.

Where's the "only proxy hatch" macro game - no hatch's in nat or 3rd

vs cannons just keep making spines and micro them. There are tons of funny sub games in that. If all of your overlords are pooping creep on hold position you can make funny spine pushes. I wouldn't mind seeing three games if it goes this short. I feel like 30 minutes is a nicer target than 20.

250 investment would of allowed an elevator movement of all the units to abandon them
