Light, Cosmos, Riddles, and now Zap have a trend where they do 1 or 2 streams with him along with offstream training and immediately at their next tournament, place incredibly well or perform a major upset against notable players. I've just noticed a trend. You could even potentially throw Skyjay in there as well though tbh I don't follow his results as closely.

@@averagejoe9229 iirc, chain of events was Chunky beating Spargo the week prior (Hbox has uploaded that set), Spargo winning the runback (the seeding for Coinboxes needs to be fixed, Chunky plays the first seed literally EVERY WEEK) and tweeting “ok now where’s my video?”. After double eliminating him, Zap posted his popoff with the Fazeup hashtag, per Hbox’s request, to which Spargo replied “nah fuck you we aren’t friends don’t pop off on me on Twitter, you suck ass and as soon as I figure out your gimmick playstyle you’re never taking another fucking game off me, enjoy the wins scrub”. This is slightly paraphrased, I think the tweet is deleted and I honestly don’t care to double check, but he did call Zap trash and gimmicky. Funnily enough they played again recently in a Coinbox and Zap won again, so Spargo was talking shit he couldn’t back up. Hbox offered a $100 thug finals after the bracket, without either player knowing, to which most people asked him to call off because Spargo went past shittalk, and condoning that from a top player is a terrible look. It was cancelled, but it’s surprising that a community that has had (and hated) Leffen for so long, we wanted the “hero” of Ultimate to rage like a 12 year old in an FPS lobby. I honestly think if it was an unknown player, or said at a local, a ban may have been in order for toxicity.

cloud and bowser jr online have roughly the same advantages- cloud and jr both have massive disjoints that can be tossed out safely which are harder to react to in an online setting. i would argue that cloud has the better advantage in this case. spargo tosses out a lot of lame shit like up smash that just happen to work whereas all of zaps kills seem like more planning and effort went in. zap seems to work off reactions, rushing in when the opponent fucks up. to me, a reactive play style is more difficult online. people are saying jr is carried by online and i think that is true to some extent, saying that jr is carried by online but not cloud doesn't seem right to me. cloud is clunky and has bad recovery. frankly, i think the difference between online and in person is pretty negligible to begin with. it's the same game being played with a different amount of lag. if you get used to both, you're a good player. hbox isn't out here suddenly losing more matches because he's online. zap isn't suddenly winning just because of minor gameplay changes. respect the skill. what's done is done. online, offline, win, lose. history is history and history gave zap the win. god why the fuck did i type all this shit
