I totally agree, but I don't think that's what Magnus is saying. It's probably true that videos that have more of a concept behind them attract more clicks and viewers than the "Magnus goes bouldering" videos, and those view counts do matter a lot when you're trying to run a business that is largely based on KZread. So it's the struggle of trying to make videos that are likely to bring in lots of views and subscribers WHILE being enjoyable to make AND fun to watch for the audience that you already have.

Plus Magnus has been doing this for so long he knows how he should feel and can probably tell the slightest difference.

@@SenorTacoClimbing I'd say you're definitely correct in terms of pure physical capabilities, but remember that mental strength is super important to build when you're new to climbing. Sending your first 4 after only being able to send 3s might really give yourself that confidence that helps you send other routes. When someone already has that mental strength and confidence to be sending 8s and 9s, I don't think they get that same return. Then again, I could totally just be wrong. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Magnus, you can just make it a series. Name the series/playlist “The Climb” or something where all you do is try to achieve climbs that you haven’t done before. Each new puzzle makes for good content. It can even be as simple as “The Climb: Part 1” You don’t need a fresh idea or a clickbait title for each video. Series appeal to audiences too. There’s a chronology they can follow and it’s great to see you actually struggle and overcome obstacles. Upvote so he can see :)

Clickbait titles are not for you, it’s for non-regular who still have a massive impact on the contents click rate. you need to appease the algorithm otherwise it won’t show this video in people’s feeds. So if you don’t do it, even though the regular audience don’t care, it will be rated lowered, and even regular viewers might not get the recommendation as a result. It’s not a choice.

Magnus, you are part of creating a climbing culture around the world. Climbing gyms and mountain biking routes are showing up all over the place in America, especially in places without mountains. This is happening because you and other elite athletes talent and passion for the sports are infectious. Chase the passion, and like you said in the video, dont go into a session with an exact expectation, but get the most out of a session that you can. It's a journey, don't rush a small part of a long journey for something as petty as a popularity contest. You created a regular viewer from me, except I dont watch the world record videos.

Hey, remember Anton's words when you feel down about anything. "It's Okay" I find your climbing videos to be really fun, just seeing you control your body to move the way you want to, is a feat in itself. I tried hanging from my pull up bar on one arm (5 second max xD) and could barely bring my other arm back up (my own humble estimate for wall climbing till gyms reopen and I can try it for the first time). Great content! Really enjoyed it.
