Bought the addon a few days ago and suddenly this video comes out, amazing! What I like so much about it is, that it makes simulating in Blender actually applicable for general use. What used to be a time consuming process with alot of headaches, can be done easily with the addon. It builds upon all the great simulation features Blender has to offer and combines them in a way, that allows quick work with impressive results.

Saying that it's pointless also shows even more that you know nothing about houdini. It's complicated for many yes, but there is a reason for it. You can do literally everything with it while having a high degree of control over everything. Also saying that it's it doesn't make sense to use it in any production is hilarious.

@@wdkpwr6586 Every single major vfx and game studio in the fucking world is using houdini. Even Nasa is using it. It's the most powerful and versatile software for vfx on the market. Yes it's not real-time, but if you make something fast and it looks like shit why bother. Plus houdini is designed for big studio. It's integrated everywhere, have many options for large scale applications (especially for simulations). Speed is good, and houdini IS faster for bigger studios due to all of that and more. The fact that houdini can also offer a large amount of automatisation is also a blessing for indi artist because it can make you do everything faster. Vfx takes time, no matter what software you are using. It's not the artists or the softwares fault, it's the company's pushing for shorter and shorter deadlines.

Does it work? sure, but is it a great tool that lets you art direct and iterate easily? not really.

I think if given some time and a redesign of its fracturing system to be procedural it could actually catch up (a little) It won’t ever compare to something like Houdini if it continues to use the Blender internal solver but if it provided a more procedural approach to mesh preparation and fracturing that didn’t rely on modifier stacks so you could iterate on your fracture between sims that would definitely make it more usable. Would really like to see solvers make their way into geometry nodes as well. If we could get a full procedural redesign of RBD lab based on the framework of geonodes that would make everything so much better

It's looking promising as an add-on, but your information about fracture plugin with particles is a bit misleading, you can use particles with the fracture builtin add-on, why do you do this with your videos. it totally negates the validity, also GN's with creating solvers is probably going to maks this add-on redundant over time! Also we need all these tools to be free in blender than continually buying add-ons, that is going backwards with the idea of Open source! we need to all benefit from everyone elses input, not all sell add-ons that make it costly over time!
