Not enough people understand what human behavior/psychology really is, this story is a perfect example of what humans do if left to our own devices. That is why it is so crucial for each and every one of us to choose to live under God's will and help our fellow man to do that same!

Yes, but which God, there are so many. Or which devil, there are lots of those too. You say we should live under God’s will, but I have no faith in the bombastic sentiments of the men who claim to know the will of God. Why would I ever submit myself and my eternal soul to some other dude who read an old book written by goat herders in the Bronze Age who didn’t know why the sun came up? And from an ethics perspective, the Abrahamic tradition has been weighed and measured and found wanting. I’ll look elsewhere, thank you.

I read this again four days ago. This time I was really disturbed by this incident but then GOD talked to me in my heart, bad choices and bad decisions always have some very bad consequences. So, before we make any decision we should keep it before GOD LORD in prayer and HE will listen and answer our prayers in JESUS'S name.

When there is "no king" to enforce the law, people will fall into depravity. This occurs many decades after Sodom and Gomorrah, yet it happened in Israel again! When people do what they think is right and not obey the law, it leads to depravity, and eventually destruction. Every civilization that has fallen has embraced Sodomites. The Benjaminite's are Blessed because they survived, and more, they actually became one of the tribes that Jesus came from. Jesus is from the Tribe of Judah without a doubt, but john the baptist his cousin was from the tribe of Levi. So it is my belief that Jesus through His geneology is of each tribe, by different relatives. Thus Jesus came from the tribe of Benjamin as well.

I have lived this story. The first time I read this story many years ago it broke my heart. But this story showed the husband was a coward. And the father who was willing to allow his own virgin daughter to be raped as well was a coward too. Seeing the way this man treated his wife it's no wonder why she wanted to leave him. Her husband was a jerk. All I could see when I initially read that story was how weak those two particular men were. If someone doesn't understand my comment chances are, they have never been raped.

What happened in Judges 19 and what we are witnessing in our civilized era is about the same. ALOT of evil atrocities are being committed to girls, women, boys, men etc sexual immorality everyday everywhere. Reading it from the Bible only buttresses "the heart of humans can be desperately wicked" NOTHING to do with our Holy God. We need to be well informed when we read the Bible these sins will never be hidden. People murder and cut a fellow human into pieces and place them in refrigerators etc May God continue to show us all His unfailing mercy and forgiveness. Amen

The only problem I had with this story is the presenter is claiming the lack of a king was part of the problem in terms of accountability. No!! You were held accountable by the very name of the book. In fact God didn’t want them to have a king. That was pagan nations ideology. ‘Both Samuel and Yahweh were greatly offended by Israel's request for a king, viewing it as people's rejection of them. Despite his displeasure with the people, God still told Samuel to accede to their demand but warn them about the grievances that kingship would bring (1 Sam 8:4-9).’ I wouldn’t trust anything this site has to offer. Bcuz if it can mislead in one area, it can mislead in another.

Five lessons from the story 1. When there is no accountability in our lives, we tend to strongly deviate. 2. We need to ensure that we treat every human being as a bearer of the image of God. 3. The more you and I stray from God, the more vulnerable we become to doing things we never imagined we would do. 4. Every bad decisions we make has consequences that we cannot choose. 5. God has grace for us even in the midst of our most destructive decisions.

the Levite was a COWARD of a man, angry brutish. He CLEARLY didn't treat her with respect and love, that's why she left him and returned to her father's house., she was right to have done so, and if she hadn't gone back with him the horrific fateful events would not have fallen on her. As a husband he should have protected her at all costs, and fought for her till death, but the useless Levite not only abused her himself when she was with him, but let other wicked men do much worse, The poor poor poor girl! The very first Levi, who was the 3rd son to Jacob, was among the brethren who plotted to kill his brother Joseph, and before that this Levi along with Simeon, murdered all the men of Shechem. Jacob even said that they troubled him and caused his name to stink among the inhabitants of the city.

They didn’t know what was to come some didn’t care and some didn’t believe what was to come. There was also a narrow path that lead to an unassuming door that once opened lead to a beautiful bright and glorious place. Yet the people that went through that door didn’t care about the people in the river, except one man. He left the wonderful place and tried to bring others with him. Most people didn’t listen but he tried. Then I woke up to a voice in my head saying which one are you. I wept out of anger at myself and the other who didn’t care about the people in the river. So which one are you.

You have to wake up and feel compassion (bodhicitta) for the souls that are suffering and turn back and try to ease the suffering of those who are in great pain. In the original text of the Bible, an important fact is completely camouflaged. The Levite took a woman from Bethlehem as a concubine - and he did not have a regular legal wife. That procedure was beyond all logic and a highly immoral act of sexual and emotional exploitation. A phenomenon that was practiced very often in Jewish society. So, on what basis and in what way should that woman have been faithful to the Levite??? And yet she did not go with another man, but returned to her father's home. The author of this part of the Bible did not find it necessary to write a single word about it. A woman was then less valuable than a goat or a dog. Nothing instructive can be extracted from the whole story in terms of religion or life and morality in today's world. This story is just one of many such stories in the Bible, which give a thorough account of a completely freakish and depraved society that knew no moral norms, and for every depravity there was justification in the "will of God". There is no God in those legends! Those are not stories about people and God, but stories about people without God!

Technically, the whole Judges book is the story of human society who didn't have a God to begin with... And it explains how deprave humans can be without God and basically just doing what they think is right... So there's that... That's the whole point of the Judges book... God explains what humans are capable off doing when they don't have guidance or believe from the real God... Take note, this was the times where Moses, Joshua, and the others were dead already... God warned the Israelites before hand that after they reach the promise land, they should avoid worshipping fake "gods" but offcourse, the Israelites has a hard headed brains that they still did such a thing... That's when the judges came in since God annointed them to saved the Israelites from evil... The cycle repeated over and over and over and over and over... There would be a judge that the Almighty Father annoint when Israel sinned and worship fake "gods" to save them, then after the judge die, the Israelite would go back worshipping fake "gods" again, repeated cycle... Even when we reach the Book of Kings, the same thing happened, but the Judges book is a depiction of how horrible human society can be when they don't know God.

@@briancomley8210 The comment you replied to SPECIFICALLY spoke of JESUS liberating women, which is EXACTLY what he did. Where do you think the changing attitude toward women came from??? It came from thre renewed covenant through JESUS. ..the NT. Unless of course, you are muslim. Muslims STILL teach amd practice the subjugation and repression of women. Sheesh man. Get your facts right BEFORE you try to act/speak with authority.. And it would be a good idea to actually READ the subject matter you are commenting on. Cos currently you just present as a judgemental, foolish ignoramus.

I don’t know if I can agree with what you said, the old testament God, showing himself to other nations, showing them that he is the true and only God. I don’t think God lifted anybody up what I mean by that is Time after Time the people in the old testament, let God down. Even his chosen people went through hardships and trials and were banished from their own land. If you look at the women, you’re referring to they a purpose and only God knows what that was. You could name the women in the Bible, and all of them didn’t work for the Lord, with the exception of the Samarian woman at the well. Although she did do something for the Lord she told everybody about Jesus. I know that God wants us to rely on him for everything. Although we are all sinners and sometimes that seems impossible that’s when God really works on you to trust him. I also feel that any times of hardship, is when God mode you! Our Lord is very pleased with us when we come to him. I’m sorry I got off on a little tangent.

Its a good story, we can all learn from it. Nxt time tell the whole story first then you finish by sharing with what you have learned from it. The flow will be perfect. Stay Blesssed.

Please brother, be respectful with Jesus Christ, we do not worship a baby because Jesus Christ went to heaven as a grown man and is still alive🤷🏻‍♂️ I understand its not your fault, but if anyone taught you like that, they are in error... God bless🙏🏾🙏🏼🙏

My brother in Christ, we do not refer to the Lord as baby. Lion, Lamb, Slain, Alpha, King, Master, True, Word, God, etc are some monikers you can use. Remain in Christ forever!

"you can choose your sin but you can't choose your consequences." That's a brilliant saying.

These chapters reflect how dark humanity can go. The Levite’s problem became the nations problem and the consequences were dire 😢 for every Israelite. These chapters don’t only reflect Benjamin’s sin, but also the concubines, the Levite man, those that killed grieved and to alleviate their grief allowed women to be taken as property without their father’s consent. It is a very dark tale with elements that are echoed in other parts of the Bible, the Levite went to Bethlehem to restore the concubine who was unfaithful. Joseph took his wife Mary to Bethlehem to register for the census ordered by Caesar Augustus, Joseph also had to deal with the fact that his wife was heavily pregnant with God’s son… that would have taken faith to accept.
