It's such a shame that it's more cost effective to just replace items then to reuse repurpose isn't it. Nice result though Keith and its so much better than just buying new in my opinion.

But is the stuff you buy new actually any better than the older stuff I have found some newer stuff doesn't last as long as older items (and that excludes the previous life that older item may have).

Just a little tip Keith..Before you peel tape from a painted edge like that you should just gently go down it with a nice new stanley blade, makes for a lovely clean line.

I've struggled to get a good primer in the past so will definitely look at that in future. Can we have more Keith's eye view videos please?! 😃

Always nice to be able to do a little something for the family, especially if there's a bit of home cooking at the end of it. Nice to reuse as always and a big improvement on the old mate. Got a story about converting a 16th century mehogany and stained glass door to a bifold, for an Earl in a grade 1 listed castle no less. For another time maybe. Needless to say I think it was the job that started my going grey and I've never wanted to look at a bifold since!

Compared to any new doors this one is likely made of really high quality wood and should, despite having been eaten at by woodworms, last a lot longer than most modern alternatives. Not to mention how much more style it has. Good job repurposing these!

Completely agree with restoring the doors, I abhor discarding usable materials, and looks like a nice job. But what is it with so many homes here in the UK having stupidly located doorways where you can't operate a normal door without interference from other fixtures / furnishings, or creating an obstruction between them? I realise layout needs will change over time but surely doorways have fairly consistent requirements?

Looks a lot nicer after than it does before so that is what I call a success. The paint job around the glass panes is a bit on the rough side though. It looks as if you had paint bleed under the masking tape, which could be poor adhesion due to not cleaning the glass first, poor quality masking tape, and/or rushed application of the tape?
