Hey Jayme, Thanks for this groovy stuff, but I couldn't get any kind of download link. I'll try to learn it by watching the clip.
Jayme, awesome video lesson. Questions: I've not used the tap technique before. I've done 16th-note patterns (transcribed and worked on lots of Rocco, so have ghosted but not tapped). Just to learn this one, I worked it up *without* the tapping, and while I got it, I noticed my placement of the two C#s was a little off, realized that the tapping would likely solve that problem. So I'm re-learning it *with* the tapping, but I'm a little stuck doing so. Do you have any exercises or suggestions for really getting comfortable with the tapping and integrating it into my lines. Thanks, man!
You should make a tutorial for the intro bass groove. Tasty!!!

Welcome to the club Robert!
Jayme, with all the respect, in order to have a correct staff notation for E Major, there should be four sharps at the key + there should appear the 'natural' symbol wherever the D natural appears. According to your current notation, the musical piece is either in A Major or in F# minor, which is (of course) not the case.
@deadbeatstudios
4 жыл бұрын
I see what you're saying, but if you look closer you'll see that were not in the key of E at all. Just cuz we're tonicizing the note E, that doesn't make it the I chord. In fact, an E7 cord is a dominant chord, which is synonymous for the V cord, and E is the V if A ;) So logically, the key is most certainly A - since there are no D#'s present - and the D natural is prevalent. Of course you could argue both scenarios to be correct, but I always key a song based on the notes ACTUALLY being used and how they function (which in this case is clearly A), rather than a rule that says "if you stay there the whole time it must be the I chord." Of course they would teach it that way in school, however, but I'd call them wrong simply from a 'musically grammatical' standpoint. But to each his own :)

Why not just play the first C# in measure 2 on the E string, 9th fret? It would take less effort to do that and would let you slowly transition down the neck back to the beginning of the riff

Thinner strings get that burpy funky sound better than thicker strings, especially thicker strings at higher frets.

Always the same incoerente way of making videos here on youtube: "ADVANCED funk groove" in the title, and then explained in too much stupid details in the video. So the question is, what's the target of the video? Beginner or advanced musician?!??!?!
@deadbeatstudios
4 жыл бұрын
I'd say almost anyone could click on this and be able play it, even though it's pretty advanced, due to the way in which it is explained. So the target is everyone I guess, except for you, seemingly. But that's ok - I'd recommend checking out some players like Nathan Navarro or Adam Neely or Janek Gwizdala. All good friends of mine and probably more to your liking.
