My moment of the week was 💯 Jason Brown delivering two exceptional programs after skating lights out at nationals. Made my heart feel things.

Even if RIka's music didn't suit her this season, it's still better to figure that out now when she's young than during Olympics season. She needs to skate to different types of music to challenge herself artistically.

@@evanperilstein5308 He wasn't wearing it to make some fashion statement or to look good, he was wearing it because he's KOREAN and it's a traditional KOREAN hat and the competition is in KOREA. Also, a fan gave it to him and he always loves to show his fan gifts in the kiss and cry. The point wasn't for it to look good lmao, it was for fun and just because the commentator didn't like it didn't mean he had to make such ignorant comments, especially when he's commentating on a Korean competition.

The super/golden grand slams is a THING. Yuna used to be known for that,as the ONLY and FIRST skater who won it all. Hence why they called her The Queen (with the never off for podium in all her competition time as well though). Then, alina won it all last year and hanyu did it yesterday. Alina fans celebrated it as well, so it s not exaggeration that yuzu fans want to celebrate it as well

A thought from my fantasy world- I'd love to see Yuzuru skate to an adapted version of Yoshiki's "Anniversary" honoring Japan's Emperor and Empress' s 10th. He is so proud of his country and its culture...and with Yoshiki being one Japan's greatest rock stars, as well as a classical composer.... I think Yuzuru would give an epic performance.

I don’t understand the outrage over Yuzu repeating Chopin&Seimie? Like if this is how he’s going to mentally prepare himself then let it be. It’s not like the programs are bad, they’re iconic and like wine, it ages beautifully.

Because he's used these programs for 4 and 3 seasons, respectively. I'm fine with one reuse now and then, but in this case he's replacing two recycled programs with two different recycled programs. There is some expectation that people will come up with original material.

This season he brought back his quad lutz, quad loop, ratified a 4Teu3F, and when challenged he tried to hailmary a 3A-3A. He clearly worked on at least rotation for a quad axel. He made his footwork on jumps and transitions more complex. I don't know why some people don't take the long view and see this as original material development. When training a musical instrument, you play piece after piece prescribed by your teacher every couple of months (or so) but after you reach a certain level, development isn't about being able to play a piece or even about playing more difficult pieces (though in this analogy, Yuzuru is still playing more difficult pieces via his transitions imho!) but the quality of playing - whether the music is Mary Had A Little Lamb or Mozart, you can HEAR a quality when a famous pianist plays vs lower level player. Professional musical players can spend weeks, months, years studying the same musical piece and understanding it in different ways. Sure, I would love to see more different types of programs because he's just such a GOAT I would just love to see it, and I think being able to interpret wider ranges of pieces is a great way to grow, but it's not like he's stopped working (I have eyes, the quality of skating is observable) and he's at a point in his career that is the equivalent to settling into being a professional jazz player who works on honing depth of jazz skills rather than split time to also become a master of classical music, pop music, broadway music. And his area of strength is probably skating skills, jumps, and certain types of music only, he isn't really going to be to become a Jason Brown or a Satoko to music. It's also going to be difficult to find the right fit in music that could live up to Chopin and Seimei, let alone have time to get a choreographer in and build it up to standard that Yuzuru strives to get it to in such a short timeframe. Like some writers produce books every year, some work on a manuscript for seven years before it's finished, which often produce different types of works.

Thank you always for your honest opinions! I don't always agree, but I enjoy hearing them. About Yuzuru, I'm suspecting his return to Chopin might have been his way of "testing" the judges. If he skated again his SP that had been so highly rewarded, how would the judges score it now? It was a very risky move because he would have to skate it not only cleanly but perfectly, which he did. In my opinion it was the best Chopin he ever skated. The results? He did not get perfect GOE on any of his jumps, although he previously did and totally deserved this time as well. His components were lower than before, showing the judges' reluctance to give him 10s when that performance was literally PERFECT. This judging wouldn't have been a problem if the strictness on the GOEs and PCS were applied fairly to ALL skaters. What had been causing Yuzuru to get into his head in my opinion was that while he had not been getting the GOEs and PCS he used to get, Nathan's had been rising like crazy. Yuzuru is getting +4s on his perfect 3As while Nathan is also given +4s just for landing average 3As. Nathan is getting 9.0-9.5 for transitions while, as the Chopin SP at 4CC showed, judges are capping his transitions at 9.5. The TP is calling Yuzuru's flat edge on his flip but never Nathan's. If scores were given more according to the rules, it might have been "Yuzuru's quality vs Nathan's technical ability," but the scoring til now and at 4CC proved that that is not to be expected. Yuzuru 11 months ago said that he wanted to win no matter how the rules were changed, that he would adapt to the rules in order to win. Now he's saying that he just wants to skate in his ideal way, and if the judges don't like it, there's nothing he can do about it. It seems he has given up on the judges and that's very sad, but I hope this change in his mindset will allow him to perform more freely and show us another stunning Chopin and Seimei at Worlds.

Ak Blades - you put it perfectly! It's not about Yuzuru's scores being too low (there should always be place for 'something even more' and raising his scores wouldn't even solve the issue), but it's about other skaters being scored too high in comparison. The ISU graph which shows average GOE development through the years in Nathan's case is ludicrous and in no way reflects what we see in reality (2018: 0.5 --> 2019: 2.5???). I've been saying that technical elements should be scored by AI these days (with already existing technology + human supervision), and I firmly believe that few year from now we will look back thinking how the current system was "a thing"... Imagine - no undetected under-rotations, all perfectly in-time captured per-rotations, all relevant jump measurements and categorized quality transitions: this will be game changer for future generations! I also do agree with you that such judging must feel so disheartening and that the fact that Yuzuru continues to skate with arguably more complex programmes each time is inspiring in itself! It's true that he used to say "I want to be in position where skating clean I know - I'll win" and now even with higher BVs this doesn't seem to be a way to reason anymore... And finally, I do not understand complaints saying that he "always skates for the record" (like it's a bad thing), or that he is "desperate to win" . I mean, hello - FS is a competitive sport and this guys shows up to win like everybody else! To me - this is a quality of a TOP athlete and true sportsman (even if it is with some added skating drama ;)).

I agree.. while he never talk anything about missjudging, but he is an insightful man, he knew something went wrong when something just wrong... he wont recycled those programs without any reason. But i still believe in him. He and his team will figure it out... how to win the competitions.

The NBC analysts need to do some homework before announcing again. I'm speaking specifically of Johnny Weir. During the ladies free skate of Chen Hongyi of China, Johnny made the statement that no Chinese lady had ever landed on the podium at the Olympics. I'm sure that Chen Lu would object to that. She was the on the Olympic podium not once, but twice, in 1994 & 1998 as the bronze medalist. I'm surprised Tara didn't correct Johnny during the live broadcast seeing as she was podium mates with Chen Lu in 1998, but maybe Tara suffers from short term memory??

Personally, if I was Yuzu next year, I'd forego the Grand Prix series and start my season after the Grand Prix. He's more than earned it and it would help his body. Come back w/new programs, do the 4A, and retire. He's dealt with enough.

I just want to him to be happy with himself. He has obtained all gold medals and achieved something that no other male skater has achieved before. As of late, I think he became more stressed and seemed desperate to catch up with more difficult technical content. The judges and scoring is no longer on his side. Media continuously pin and sell rivally between him and Nathan. I can't imagine what is in his head during the competition.

Kaori´s Piano was out of this world. Despite the fact you would expect this years´ programs energy to be her style it is actually the opposite. The lyricism of From the first moment and Piano brought out the best from her. I hope Richaud comes up with something similar next season. Otherwise I agree, this season was a disaster for Kaori, I felt like they didn’t even try. And please forget the 4T, it’s nowhere near close landing

​@@gogroregogoror I don't know, I had so much hope for this program when Benoit posted his video of her training it back in early October. But she was never able able to bring to competitions the same energy and attention to detail that she showed in that clip. Bellabell might be right, perhaps she was just distracted by her jump content (and struggles), or overly focused on gaining the 4T, and thus the rest of her performance lagged.

Can we please do a big fundraiser for them to hire Mark Henretty to comment EVERYTHING for ISU? Please! The commentator is Paul Alster, he wasn't great at Euros, but this was really too much to take. Some of my favorite moments from his commentary: "I'm afraid he was a bit awkward on the landing" (30% underrotated plus landed with a step out and hand down), "She unfortunately lost her way" (popped jump), "You can hear the cameras going off like hungry woodpeckers".

Their commentary is SO nice and SO polite because they're afraid of offending skaters that it simply isn't objective anymore. Canadian nationals was very much like that.

I met them and talked a minute or two at the friends of figure skating brunch, Madison was very elegant looking with tall heels. They were very sociable and sweet to everyone wanting autographs and pics but there was definitely an aloofness too. Kaitlin and Jean-Luc are so real and down to earth, along with Madison and Evan.

I LOVE you guys! Serious commentary cloaked/delivered w humor, SNARK (tell us how you really feel, Dave!), & it's So. Bloody. Enjoyable. Also, you are both so knowledgeable af about figure skating hx, & you care deeply. I've learned a ton since I subscribed to TSL & I start my Mondays off w you both. Don't always agree (where's the fun in THAT?!?) but always watch. Btw, it's my opinion that Yuzu has let Nathan take up a long term rental spot in his head, while Nathan just DOESN'T CARE. He's already thinking about life after skating, as seen in multiple interviews beginning from at least last season, & it seems that skating doesn't define him. Works like a dog, does his best at the particular comp he's at, then done, flush, on to the next. Good for him!

I'm so happy for Jason Brown to be doing so well with his new coaching team. His triple axel does look better than ever, it has great spring and nice power to it. I missed the Knierims in the free skate. The pairs field didn't seem all that deep when they withdrew and there were only 2 pairs in that warmup group, and then Lubov and Charlie didn't look anything like they did earlier in the season. What was with all the throw doubles. Alexa & Chris definitely could have won bronze here over KMT/MM if they had actually done a SP spin and a free skate. I hope they're okay and that this was just precautionary so they're healthy for Worlds. Everything about them is better than it's ever been aside from the jumps and to me it might help them to go back to doing salchows in the short. That has always been Chris's better jump, and Alexa can adjust to anything. But there must be a reason why they put the toes in instead, so who knows.

Earlier I saw skating was on TV, so I checked to see if my dad had any blank VCR tapes, he did, I unwrapped it and popped it in. Just finished watching it. We don't have the VCR remote so I had to sit through the commercials. I enjoyed the commentary, though. Happy for Jason Brown!

Guys, I cannot emphasise enough how important visuals are. Your content is unique. You also need visuals as dividers between different topics, 'cause 2 hours is too long to watch all at once. I'm a fan of yours and this is positive feedback.

I feel like Hanyu constantly reusing his Seimei program has made the special effect of the program dwindle (this is his third season now with it)

He decided to change the program at the end of December which was so late that he didn't have other choice but to bring back something that he used before. He said he was thinking about new programs but there was simply no time to do it. He probably should have changed Origin in the summer. Things kept piling up after that when he couldn't skate to the program as he wanted it to. Skate Canada was the exception. I don't judge him as he has already 2 OGMs in his bags and he could stop competing any time he wants to. Imagine how hard it is for him to train rigolously every day and he is 25 now, he has been slin seniors since he was 15. I think he needed some motivation to continue after PC and thought two tribute programs would be a good motivation. But he then may have realised they aren't really his programs. I am sad he didn't realise it earlier. I guess he wanted to skate them really well, which he did with Otonal but he couldn't do with Origin. He looked more comfortable in Chopin and Seimei at 4CC because these programs are really his, he can show his skating in them. If he continues skating next year I will be curious what programs he will be bring.

Nah, I enjoyed Seimei but not as much as Chopin. Not because I have seen it several times but because he was sort of off when he did it. Completely different with Chopin where he is fully committed to it. Whatever distracted him made a big difference. Not an excuse, that's just how Yuzu performs.

I had to pause your discussion to go out to my backyard and watch another incredible rocket launch! One of the few redeeming factors of living in FL! The comments section has been fun so far.

I love that Jason won silver with a single popped quad and deserved it. I have nothing to say about Hanyu here--I guess you would consider me a Fanyu. I don't think so--I think that skating is a ridiculously subjective sport and Hanyu blows my mind. I've been watching skating since the '80s and no one before him ever made a similar impression on me. Maybe I'm crazy. OMG! What happened to Roman? I want to see him move forward. In many other ways I thought this was the most watchable and entertaining competition of the season. The men's field was terrific.

I think the thing with the Fanyu is that if you make even the slightest critique of Hanyu, they literally want to kill you 🤣🤣🤣 For example, whenever anyone mentions how Yuzuru recycling his programs/creating programs that are all veeerry similar etc, you get murdered by BUT HES THE 2X OLYMPIC CHAMPION GREATEAT OF ALL TIME Like yeah I get it he is technically superb and artistically spectacular but nobody is perfect, him included 🤣🤣

People yelling that fanyus are annoying is waste of everyone's time. No one has ever sold out venues like he does. There has to be a reason--subjective, emotional, or a sign of mass mental illness? You tell me. But going after people for being overwrought and hyper-emotional will solve nothing; it makes everyone feel bad. I don't think the majority of over-the-top Yuzu fans would honestly claim he is perfect. The fact is they have a unique response to his particular ability to reach them on a transcendent level. And they try to explain that by pinning it on his amazing skating skills when in fact the mystery element is some combination of extremely high skill level, artistic sensitivity, and showmanship. Supposedly that is all part of the sport and how it is judged.

I don't mind the sound issues at all. I just appreciate you both taking the time to cover skating for all us skate nerds! 💙⛸️💙

Agree with everything you’re saying about Yuma Kagiyama. And right now he’s getting Junior PCS in my opinion (unfairly) and he still scored over 270 points total. If he was senior, his PCS would be approaching 9.0 average at this point. I will say that I have heard that he and his team did not expect to be in this position so soon, so that’s part of the reason why I think they are OK with him going to junior worlds, and turning senior next year. My understanding is that he was going to skate junior next year as well, but the latter half of the season has dissuaded them from that. But yes I agree Dave, sent him to senior worlds now, have him move up, and get that experience with two world championships before the next Olympics.

Oh my goodness, Jonathan! Thank you so much for saying what you did about Tomoki and his facial expressions. I just don’t understand it. His *skating* has so much personality, but his face is absolutely nothing. His eyes are dead. He looks like he’s just going through the motions. Last year he was having fun with that Pirates program, and he was having a good time. Smiling, and almost LIVING the music. This season, I think he thinks that dramatic means “no emotion“. There’s literally nothing going on and it detracts from his performance so much. Also, and I know this is going to sound mean so please don’t @ me: I think his PCS will go up at least a couple points if he didn’t have a haircut that looks like it was done in two minutes at Supercuts. GURL. Why is it always sticking up in spots??

I actually like the Petrushka program choreo, but it's clear he doesn't get it & he's not performing it at ALL. I mean, back in the dark ages, before we had KZread, I could understand a skater not being able to see an example of the ballet/musical/movie you're skating to, but come on! Watch it on KZread at least once. Yes, Chaplin & La Strada clips are on KZread too. 🙄

Junhwan gave a beautiful performance this time! I saw the men’s free skate live at 4 continents and his skating was so beautiful and memorable. He showed that he can deliver a clean performance at big competitions. I really hope he works on his jumps more and gives a great performance at Worlds.

20:45 so interesting that Johnny said the same thing during the broadcast. That Jason made the mistake he did, going for the quads too late in his development. You have a beautiful program that you don't want messed up with iffy jumps, and you can just barely make it score wise without the jumps. So mentally it is hard to take that risk and throw them now

Yes, you can always see how it will go on the entrance to the jump. During the pattern, you can see Jason slow down just like Johnny did. He doesn't have his usual attack. It is likely subconscious.

I loved this discussion!! I really hope Hanyu wins one more WC, but we can all see the tilt towards the next Olympics and Hanyu having the focus shifted away from him; this can't be easy to know when you still have the desire to compete. Certainly the best WC team for next month would have been Hanyu/Uno/Kagiyama. I was so impressed with Rika's sang froid in changing her jumps mid-program even in that awful swamp-colours dress. Young You's 3A was wonderful.

This is not the best that he is repeating the program but he is skating his 10th senior and 12th international season, so if he wants to repeat something he can do that. Do any of you remember any man that has ever skated 12 seasons without even skipping a gp series? I am not fanyu but I have a feeling that he is expected too much. He himself said he wanted to feel comfortable and otonal and origin were not comfy for him and he had no time to do new programs. Anyways I hope he will come up with two new good programs for next season P. S. I am rooting for Rika a lot lot

You think to pick up your broken body after winning 2 fucking gold medals at OG and keep pushing and studying new types of quads is lazy be my guest I have nothing to tell you. Again I would prefer to see new programs but if these two programs are the ones that make him continue then let it be. It was wrong to repeat otonal and origin from the beginning and this change was just to repair the first mistake. Probably there was no time to get new programs

4CC showed that C/B aren’t getting kicked off the world podium without major error (that fall was not one) and rightly so! They were the only one of the top 6 who actually went with a new style for the FD and it’s the best dance program of the season. I am praying they can beat S/K for silver because their programs are so boring. So many people are predicting G/P as spoilers for worlds but I don’t see it- they haven’t been scored like a top team all season and they couldn’t beat H/D’s crap programs without them making errors. If worlds isn’t P/C, S/K, C/B in some order I’ll be surprised. Side note: completely agree about H/D’s egos and attitude problems.

I think with the Canadian crowd behind then, they will overtake the Russians for bronze. Imo, the judging panel at worlds will have looked at what happened in Euros as corrupt judging to the core. Chock/Bates is solidly in 2nd.

Chase Blue I’d love for that to happen but I’m not sure. S/K are definitely going to be more vulnerable with a non-Zhulin judging panel but mainly to C/B I think. G/P had a significant PCS gap from the other 5 teams at the GPF and they’re not getting as much GOE either. They wouldn’t have even got 4CC silver if it wasn’t for H/D making mistakes. I don’t think international judges are getting behind them as a top team. Even with a better worlds panel I think S/K will get on the podium unless they make mistakes, even though they could (hopefully) lose to C/B.

And since you're talking about corruption in judging system - most judges at worlds will be from MFD side so obv they'll support and give high levels and GOEs to their teams. If thats not corruption then i dont know what is. I get that when you lose its easier to blame the corruption on everything, but believe it or not its not all about that. Canadians should worry about not let Stepanova and Bukin overtake them for the 4th place considering the scoring they receive this season it doesnt look like they will, but then again - home advantage. So please dont tell me about fair judging here.

Fanyu made up the super slam???? FYI, IOC was the one who announced that he was the first male single skater to achieve it. Yuna kim also achieved it in 2010. You consider yourself a skating fan without reading Yuna Kim's wiki page?

You have to remember that the JGP is relatively new, as is 4CC, so this is not something that was possible until recently. It is something that was invented by the megafans of Yuna and Yuzu. It is indeed impressive, but it is a designation without much longevity.

TheSkatingLesson true that GPF and 4CC has only been around for 20 years, which is not very long compared to the other competitions but the six titles that is included in the super slam is defined by the IOC, not the fans.

The term super slam was first used in 2016 by a journalist in Chinese news paper, 4 years before Hanyu achieved a super slam, so it was definitely not made up, or invented, or created by Fanyus.

I think they should have let the US pair teams to fight it out here. The Knerims are on fumes at this point

No, they actually look really strong, jumps aside. Aside from random bizarre mistakes at one of their fall events and the short program here, they've had a pretty strong season with several strong scores. Winning Nationals was a big emotional high for them, so if they were emotionally drained a week later for 4CC, it would be understandable. They seemed fine though and wanted to compete. The missed spin was a silly fluke and I don't know what the withdrawal was about.

I would’ve named the knerims to the world team , told them to rest and made the next 3 in the standings at nationals duke it out here for the second spot. Highest point total between the two events wins, much like Dave said previously.

The Men short program was fantastic, best segment in years everyone after and including Yuma was on point| So exciting!!!! Also loving that Hanyu is doing a best of exhibition tour this year ( Parisienne Walkways, Hope and Legacy , Semei, Notte Stellata ) And i´m with Jonathan in this one... Chopin SP is a joy to watch , because is the 4th iteration ( i liked the OG version the most with the combo in the beat before the final stepseq) i was kind over this one but after seeing i accepted.... probably the best short program ever!

If the only thing they have to do to get 3 spots is finish ahead of Wakaba, it's very doable given what she tends to score. I think Wabaka also could place ahead of both of them so who knows.

Bradie and Mariah can finish ahead of Young You too. She’s not been that consistent with the 3A and imo, the judges at worlds might not be as thrilled to give her such high PCS as she was here. Bradie would’ve most likely beaten her if the competition wasn’t held in Korea

I expected to see Ryom and Kim here. Any idea why they weren't at 4CC? Because it was in Seoul, possibly?

I honestly love how chill Nathan is. He gets so much rabid hate from certain Fanyu's over his scoring that he has no control over and he goes out there, skates and leaves and goes back to have fun at Yale. Its amusing how for skaters who are good in components but lack in the technique department, fans will use the whole " but figure skating is a blend of technique AND artistry!"...which it is...BUT when you have a skater likr Nathan who is the opposite who lacks in components but very heavy in the technique department...that statement never gets used even though it still applies. And artistry is only several factors in components (Interpritation, Performance but you still have Skating Skills and Transitions).

@@birdtiredoflife5360 I think that is one of my favourite things about him. Skating is not life or death for him; it's just something he does in this stage of his life. And I know people get annoyed about how much they talk about him going to Yale but I'm not going to be worried about him after he eventually retires as you can tell he's looking ahead. He has a life outside of skating which is something that so many skaters struggle with realizing

I think the Knierim's ship has sailed. Chris looks Done and he'll never be a secure jumper. Alexa is younger and can probably make it another 2 yrs, but Chris isn't going to make it another 2 yrs.

Dave, the Russian girl represented Poland as you say (18:00) is Ekaterina Kurakowa, I think it will be much more professional if you can name her by her name. They are athlete they all deserves it !

This year is the best the Knierims have ever looked aside from jumps. Things like the twist have gotten even better. They look more sophisticated and top class. They might want to do 3S in the short, as it’s Chris’s best jump. A couple of the wild pops Chris did on the 3T looked a bit jarring to his body. I know Raf’s technical changes aren’t easy to get used to, and I don’t love the way he has them entering that 3T. Try to work with Chris’s natural timing instead of against it. I’m proud of them for working hard at it. And I forgive them for many of the jumps because the rest is so good and I appreciate their quality. I understand what Dave is saying about focusing on the most important events and maybe skipping 4CC, but I don’t like so much talk about age in pairs. It’s the oldest discipline with much longevity, and there was a recent Olympics when most of the podium was in their early to mid 30s. Alexa and Chris are one of the most athletic pairs and he throws her a mile high. Alexa is in her prime and is a youngin compared to Deanna Stellato who is doing well herself. Chris’s body has always been more fragile, so they need to be strategic with the lifts and jumps they choose. If they’re motivated, they can find a way, and I’m glad they went to Four Continents and wanted to compete. With that being said, I could see any skater on that much of an emotional high from Nationals needing more than 5 days to prepare for the next event. On another note, I would like them to be a little nicer to themselves sometimes and a little less moody. Focus on the positives and try not to let the negatives be the focal point of your day. Don’t worry about fluke errors. And be appreciative of the opportunity you have to skate. They seem to be in good spirits lately and I hope this withdrawal doesn’t derail them. I hope they’re healthy for Worlds because they deserve to be there.

It just seemed so strange to me that US Figure Skating didn't send Cain and LeDuc to 4CC rather than the Knierims (unless they wanted to go; but why would they exactly - for the points?). A bad call whomever made it. Cain/LeDuc should have had to prove themselves here and against the pair who beat them at the US Championships but whose season ended at 4CC: Calalang/Johnson.

Pairs don’t usually skip this event unless they have an injury situation. It’s basically seen as the rest of the world’s version of Europeans, so skaters usually make it a priority, although we have seen some withdrawals over the years. It’s also a very good prize money opportunity. It was, however, extremely close to US Nationals this year so the skaters basically had less than a week to come down from Nationals and prepare for this. Definitely not easy. It’s unclear if that had anything to do with their withdrawal though, they may have felt fine, I don’t know. If Cain and LeDuc were to be sent, it should have been in place of Kayne and O’Shea.

To be fair, Worlds is also scored generously. This happens at most events throughout the year. Scores rise.

The commentator is the ISU commentator? I know they had him off on the ISU stream for the pairs short but how did you avoid him for the other events?

Alexa and Chris-I have never in my life seen a skater just stop and stand still when they missed an element-and it was a spin! He could've stepped into the sit spin at least. It wouldn't have been great but him just staring at her spin was super uncomfortable. And KMT's attitude in the kiss and cry was such a turn off.

Grisgris * regarding KMTs attitude she’s clearly upset she made mistakes. Perhaps compete at her high level of figure skating and make mistakes and see how you feel when your program is done and missing out on a gold medal. She is human and is entitled to feelings whether they are good or not. Competing at this level of skating can be emotional.

I guess you haven't watched much pairs then. When this happens, the one partner can't really do much other than stand there because it's almost impossible to get back into sync with your partner and gain levels. Watch Pang and Tong from the 1999 Skate Canada SP. That's one of the big ones I remember. I think this happened to Marissa and Simon one year at Nationals too.

I could see that, if it weren't for the fact that his demeanor has always kind of been like this. Alexa is the one with all the energy and Chris is laid back and very calm. He also seems shy. He's not going to yell and act all emotional in the kiss and cry like Alexa does. They have two very different personalities. Who knows though.

He’s definitely quiet. Met him in Colorado about 10 years ago. Nice guy had some cool conversations.

With Jason, I don't know how much potential there is without a quad toe. In 2016, mens skating scores were so low but drastically all increased in 2017 and 2018. As we approach the penultimate year and olympic year, I think mens skating can increase in scores and ability. I would stay Jun Cha has much more potential with a quad and a combo that ends in a loop.
