This Almost BROKE ME. Dirt Bike Mountain Climbing on the Final Day of Grizzbait 2023

The fifth and final day of mountain dirt bike riding during Grizzbait 2023 was easily the most challenging of my life. This day of mountain dirt bike riding was full of endless steep slopes covered in big rocks leading to the most epic views I've ever seen. I honestly wasn't sure I'd make it through...but the Honda CRF250F proved once again to be a reliable mule that carried even my large posterior up the mountain.
Grizzbait 2023 was an epic week of dirt bike riding in the mountains of beautiful northern British Columbia put on by our friends at @TractioneRag and @crosstrainingenduro I was honored to have been invited and had a blast putting my hard enduro skills to the test taking on rocks, more rocks, and even more rocks, as well as techincal hill climbs, water crossings, and some of the most epic scenery I've ever seen while riding a motorcycle off road.

Great video! I am in the same boat at 54 years old, 6'2" and 305 lbs, and out of shape. I'm where you were at two years ago in terms of skill and confidence on my 2022 KLR. I watched this video and had nothing but mad respect and empathy for you. That steep and rocky trail was simply insane! But you did it! Yes, you bitched and moaned and were sarcastic the whole way up, but that's what makes your videos relatable and likable. I would be cussing and throwing a fit much more than you were, lol! Keep living the dream and having a great(and not so great) time creating content!

Ben, always look 20-40’ in front of you and run that thing on the pipe. Most of your struggle came a low R’s. Twist it and just keep looking out in front of you. Good job staying with it bud. Last thing, abandon that thought of holding the bike with your knees, you’re restricting the movement. Instead, pitch it with your boots and allow the bike to move around, especially in those cobbles.

Don’t even worry about the haters in the comments section. You are obviously having a great time doing awesome stuff so screw ‘em. Additionally, speaking as an overweight and over 60 guy, aging and out of shape is a bigger demographic than fit and 30 something in the dual sport and ADV community. Be yourself, and be true to yourself, and you will be fine. Elo and Geoff are good friends of mine and former riding buddies. As well as being more capable riders, they are two of my favourite people. They reported really challenging riding and an excellent experience, same same as you. I took a basic skills class with Dallas’ crew in lower BC, and I was impressed by the chill personalities and effective teaching styles. Cheers, eh!
