This Air Filter Could Destroy Your Engine!

I did not expect things to go wrong this way. I'm pretty choked. I will NOT be buying another one.

I am truly sorry for your delemma. The influx of "imitation/fake" parts and "pretty but worthless" parts and equipment is literally bankrupting us smaller guys. Please keep us posted on your diagnosis/process of just how much damage was done and how you plan to mitigate.

This was a legit, brand name part, but it falls under "pretty much worthless." An even more reputable brand same sells the exact same one under their name. Worthless.

@@GregWellwood While we are on the subject of brands to avoid, I'm gonna name names. WVE is straight GARBAGE. I bought a couple of their parts last year, and 1 works, but not well, and the other gave me the wickedest of headaches, chasing a gremlin that I never should have had to deal with. I will never, EVER buy WVE branded ANYTHING again.

This is just another reason I wish there was a paper-element filter that could clamp on like these "reusable" ones do.

So I immediately go out and see what filter came with my Kraken turbo kit.

Wow. That really sucks! It's not something I would expect would happen. Perhaps contacting the manufacturer would help. Probably not but if you know who the manufacturer was it might be worth a try. Thank you for sharing your tragedy to prevent others from suffering the same fate.

Is a head and turbo disassembly going to happen? What happened really sucks,I hope that you have very little damage done to all of your hard work on your truck 🚚

Sorry for your misfortune. Thanks for sharing. I see people asking who the manufacturer is but what they are actually asking is who sold the crappy product. And that is really irrelevant. Because even the premium sellers are sourcing parts from unscrupulous manufacturers. The box it came in does not necessarily indicate who or where the product inside was made. I believe the main point being made here is the piss poor design.

    1) That suuuuuuuuuuucks, man. 2) At least it didn't destroy your motor outright. 3) I've always been against that type of filter, but this video gives me yet another reason to be avoiding them.

... "word" ... those sh*tty little filters appear on every damned rat-motor kids' cars, first thing they do is chuck the factory filters thinking those stupid things are giving them 30 HP or something, and they're all junk as AFAIK. Personally, if you could find the room maybe in front of the rad support / behind the grill, I'd rig a big box-type filter (ala Crown Vic or Malibu or some such) in front of my Preciou$ Turbo.

I would never use that brand in a critical filtering place. I do use them to filter the pulse on an oil separating system I designed for my Cummins engines.

At first I thought how can it be sucked in if the cap is normally bigger than the whole, means even if the glued couldnt stick it together the cap woud be too big for the hole, then I realized its glued from the inside facing the turbo wtf.

Whaaaaat? That filter "shouldn't" have enough resistance to flow to create enough pressure differential to pop that cap. Especially if heard the event. Wow, that's wrong on so many levels.
