Thank you Shelby, the video turned out amazing! I’ve loved A-frames since I was a kid and plan on keeping the Yay Frame in my family forever. Hosting on Airbnb was a way for me to afford an A-frame. The reason I paid $75k over asking was because there was 17 offers in 3 days, then counter offers. I felt the home was still under valued and understood its earning potential. Most of the renovations were from the previous owner and a lot of the furniture came with the home. I mainly decorated and did small renovations. I plan to add a bathroom one day, and there’s another full bath in the separate cabin. You get both when you rent it. If you get real desperate there’s also an outhouse ;)

Seriously my favorite from this series. I love that you talked with the owner and she broke down some of the things that made her Airbnb so successful. I’m even rewatching!
The reason I first subscribed to Shelby years ago was because of how she discusses the money aspect in her videos; it makes things more interesting Imo! As someone who’s recently been obsessed with looking at homes on Zillow lol, I loved seeing this cabin tour and also hearing about financial side of things. Great video!❤️
These definitely cater to the Instagram-worthy crowd.

as my heart grows 2 sizes larger - this was likely a bid war, at 425k on investment property the downpayment is higher say ~80k . what kind of investments/savings were in place to be in this position. or just yolo life savings? what i’m saying is encourage us not to be average douches who think we can hop on zillow and cash roll into fast lane. or maybe i’m wrong. still 1 size to go
I’ve gotta say? I love the idea of the tv being in the basement so the passive noise it makes doesn’t draw out into the entire space, perfect for those who want a quiet cabin experience too cook and be in leisure with ur friends
The more you travel, the more you see that there are so many wonderful things in the world. It can be difficult to settle for something great when you can see that there could always be something better just round the next corner. Travel can sometimes simply be about a quest for perfection. This quest for perfection that we are looking for,we found just now in your video so the only that we have to say on you: Huge thank you and keep going!!!!!!

My husband's parents owned an A frame like the one you are showing. The guest house is really the caretakers house. Usually, they would hire someone to stay to take care of cabin (and live in care takers house) and make sure squatters wouldn't take over...also to keep flora and fauna under control by cutting and trimming, etc.
Great vid!!!

It makes such a cool Airbnb. I do worry though with so many people now getting into owning them that the workers are finding it a really hard time to try to buy a house. They always get snapped up over asking by people who want to rent them. People need homes too. I worry.

I would worry why housing development is so slow given the demand. This would accommodate so many people. If there's not enough land, put condos instead of single family homes. Airbnb did not cause these problems but definitely highlight it. People need homes...so build them. In California, the worst enemy are the NIMBYs (Not in my backyard) people who vote to prevent development to make sure their homes retain or increase in value.
