Genuine chrome safari mirrors are like $400 each... you can get GQ chrome mirror skins for like $70

@NicholasTurner-dl8gs that's probably right, but I'd argue it's worth it to not look like every other patrol on the road. He did way he want to be different... plus on his Instagram he posted a story asking if anyone had them forsale.

I'm leaning towards crome mirrors if you can get them...at first I wasn't sure about the gull wings was thinking matt black but seeing the trim pieces next to em in the gold flake I think it's a winner. I know you got a budget but what would look trick is a sun visa in the same red with crome trime....

Everything is looking fantastic but the side mirrors I would most definitely go a flat or satin black

I think satin black on mirrors wings and plastics would look mint and blend well with grill and future bar work but looks really good now also!!! Nice work

Black and chrome grill looks good. All chrome ones are bit over the top. When painting do corners edges first, fill in from there. Looking good look forward to next update.

quick tip for doing easy black outs, if you want a bit of sparkle in it, just put a small touch of gold zeryllic into your 2k black. 2 coats and you will be done. no need for the clear and you will get a good gloss without the stuffing about. The small dots all through your paint will be because its so old and is seeding

Definitely love the chrome front end!! But I think you should wait until you get it out side to make a decision on the mirrors mate 👍🏽

Was thinking maybe have chrome mirrors, the black at the back matches nicely, I think chrome mirrors will go good with the grille and rims 👍🏻

Some vinyl wrap would also be a good solution for the wings. Still look good anyway.

Tyre shine will make the trim black as well, you can get mint tyre shines that last ages.

Bunnings has a pinch weld that also has a door seal side to it that you can run inside the GQ body frame for the doors too. Helps with the door seal and makes the door close firm.

Can confirm seals awesomely and with sound deadening in doors makes a gq great to drive on long touring one of the best mods I've done

Grill suits so well with the colour of the car looks unreal I would have colour coded the mirrors to the car 😍 either way it looks mint keen to see it finished 🤙🏼

Before clear coating you couldve wet sanded a little to smoothen the pearl effect and leave a smoother surface after applying the clear coat

Another trick to bring trim, rubber, plastic whatever back to life is use auto trans fluid. Father in law taught me that trick and it works great.

Safari mirrors would look good in my opinion

The mirrors black or maybe even chrome.. with dark window tint would make this rig look absolutely mint

not diggin’ the gold flakes on the gullwings and trim pieces, satin or gloss black would be better. absolutely love the chrome grill though, chrome the side mirrors also!

Keep the mirrors as are for now, when it’s all finished and you still feel the same paint them then, it’s not exactly a hard fix or something that can’t wait

Rigs looking unreal mate Not sure what your plans are for bullbar wise or that but I definitely reckon a chrome bumper and colour matched sunvisor would look unreal on this build 🤙🏽

I love the base colour, it’s pretty much my wedding colour theme haha The gold pearl over the black seems a very odd combination ( I like it) but since you’ve alluded there’s going to be stickers on the rig, I’m imagining gold stickers and that’s giving me iron man vibes 😂 🤘🏻 But bro… the mirrors, iron man vibes or not- something’s gotta change. What about the san hima tow mirrors? Half black and half chrome- to really tickle the haters 😂😂😂

Clean GQ

Tyre shine brings back the trim shine and lasts longer than WD40, but even better than that is heat. Take a heat gun to it for a few seconds and youll see the colour come back. Just be careful you dont warp or melt it.

That Tong Yang Grille looks alot better for your Pat than they do for the mk1 Hiluxes! Wish they made them better haha

once she’s tinted it will look spot on, just throwing you off with no tint

When the windows are tinted, the mirrors will probably look more suited brother. I wouldn't go and repaint them until then

The mirrors could probably stay black if you run some cut snake flares or similar or scrub bars either of those options could be even more interesting with the gold flake paint
