This 2020 Griffin dump trailer needs a lot of work after only a few months in service

So my friends over Scott Flanagan Landscape decided I did not have enough work to do so they made me some more. His landscape work is second to none, his equipment care......... yeah leaves much room for improvement. His year old dump trailer needs to be landscaper proofed to make my life easier in the future. Let's get this trailer back on the road so he can continue building fantastic hardscapes. Check him out at: / @scottflanaganlandscap...

A roofer in Florida has a trailer made by Rolls-Royce and BBE wheels. Roofs in Florida cost a fortune. It was $12,500 to redo our roof and I got charged for hurricane clips I already had installed because the state makes you reconfirm they can handle a force load and it's actually cheaper to get new ones put in. Amd my roof was a simple tar and gravel roof.

Fun fact: this landscaper did work for his uncle, a roofer for a few years... might be the reason why I have had his trailers arrive with the axle ratchet strapped up. 😂 I enjoy the repairs to their destruction. The regular maintenance bores me!

Nicely done Scott! Put that big wrench, hammer, torque tool standing in WHITE VINEGAR for 24 hours, Pull it out, no rust, wipe dry and add a little oil-no rust! Enjoy! Rich
Something different, always welcome.
Watching this reminded me of Andrew Camarata refurbishing his trailer.
I literally just did all that to a dump trailer today... I'm the fleet mechanic for landscape/construction company so I do those repairs a lot of days actually. The crews always amaze me with the new and interesting ways they find to break something.
I’m on fire!! International call of the welder!!!
You may hate packing bearings but you did it the right way! Really enjoy the voice over you are one of the few who can do it and not cause confusion
vehcor adds a junction box that the manufacturer couldn't. The condition of the trailer for being a 2020 is amazing the rear doors aren't torn off or bent badly. That's a matter of time and then vehcor can make happy faces while putting them back right. Its not the landscaper that does all this damage, its their minimum wage workers.
My dad can do the exact same thing every trailer he’s ever owned he just destroys them no matter how well-built they are!!! When I ask him what happened it’s always the same answer I have no idea.

The problem is, most employees do not care. Also, many businesses owners don't care. The real issue, if your driving a piece of equipment, you better care. If not, the police will teach you in the way of tickets. Also, should you cause a wreck due to unsafe equipment, the police, states attorney, victims lawyers and anyone that can get you, WILL.
Bearing packer is well worth the money. Saves time on clean up for all the neat freaks.
A little tip no how to pack bearings quickly. Put grease in Ziploc bag put bearing inside same bag seal bag smoosh around contents. Remove bearing and reseal bag for later use. Been doing this since back in the 1980's works great. Love the videos.

If you do bearing more than once in awhile, the bearing packer tool is only around 20 for a decent one.
You absolutely can have one incandescent and one LED. My trailer had been Iike that for years.
Really like the videos. Thank you for putting them together. The witty spontaneous humor, my favorite. Re; packing wheel bearings - you know the way you did it is the real way. I just wish they hand gloves around back when I was doing it that way!!!
I think the problem here is somebody wasn’t there before, hence the new hub & wheel. No maintenance. Thank goodness for Scott!
I enjoy these car/trailer rebuild videos I learn a lot and I like the way you do things seems to be very thought out
I'm a mechanic in New Zealand and have done a lot of work on rental trailers we make a short loom up about a metre long with another male and female plug mounted on the inside of the chassis rail. This saves the rest of the loom from being torn out when they run it over or drop the draw bar on it as they do... Mount the lights vertically on the sides of the trailer on some angle brackets or the doors. A legal requirement out here is that you have to red reflectors on the rear so it can be seen when parked at night and an illuminated license plate showing no naked white light to the rear.
Always a reason to watch and as usual a youtuber worth watching. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
this is comedy and mechanical gold!!!

Hello . nice to see you working on a trailer again. nice change from all the cars. your previous trailer videos where you were working with the car transport trailer is the reason that I ended up on your channel. with kind regards Hollandduck from the Netherlands
ah penny lights. 100% the way to go. They also make them in a stop/tail/turn configuration as well. I've had some on my utility trailer (which people have borrowed and tried their best to smash off) and they have seemed to hold up for 8 or 9 years now. I like the T for the back center marker. Damn good idea :)
People are so hard on the trailers. Good job on the repairs and I am sure it will be back for something else in the near future. Take care and stay safe.
You are a jack of all trades.

Great job thanks for my Friday fix.
This is what you get when you buy a "cheap" dump trailer. It looks similar to the "Southland" ones that are popping up here in WA state. Nice video sir!
Your a good problem solver. When I worked for a Dodge dealer in the 1970's, the customer would get a service reminder in the mail with service recommendations, after the first 6,000 miles it was recommended that the front wheel bearings be repacked every 3,000 miles. I greased a lot of wheel bearings and I also own the same hammer/torque wrench that you do.
This video makes me wish you were closer to my area. My dads now 40+ year old solid steel bed snowmobile trailer needs basically to be completely rebuilt.
The bobcat at 3:54 slayed me..... hilarious!
and you pack them so well
That was another good video!
The beat up bed is one thing..but how on earth do you not notice a funny vibration caused by a loose wheel...That drum couldnt have been cheap!! Great fix on spare carrier...i would have added a reinforcment in the middle...so if they do use it as a lifting point again it wont fold up like a pretzel. Your work is top notch...always a joy to see things fixed or upgraded properly.
Ooh we even get razor blade safety hints too, this channel is so informative.😆

When I was growing up, we called that adjustable wrench "Da-goes"... cause Da go everywhere I go!
Another great video. Learned a few things and laughed along the way. One thing you could do to help us more is post where you get your tools. I have been to some auto parts stores and Lowes and such but still am having trouble finding a multi pack of the bearing leaf or the adjustable torque hammer!! Seriously though, great ideas and fun to watch.
👍👌👏 Very well done again and as always (video and work). Yes, I also like the little stuff. Show us more. 😁 ;-) Best regards luck and health.
They way this is going that trailer will be ready for the scrapyard in a few years. The ramp brackets seem like a good idea until they back into something bend them. Then they can't close the doors. LOL!

...awsome work man...you should be giving the guys who build these tips on how to make them better....
I thought you'd be finishing the GMC Terrain this week, but an interesting diversion in fixing the trailer. A combination of design flaws and carelessness made some work for you. I just built my box trailer last year and I ran the cable through the draw-bar, so no way it can drag on the road. I also put a bar across the back under the number plate, so that if the back of the trailer hits the ground, the bar hits before anything else. I also have removable front and rear gates for carrying longer loads and the spare tire lives underneath the trailer. I guess the GMC will be back next week, but it doesn't really matter what you are repairing, it's always interesting and not boring. All the best from Queensland Australia.
I have a 2012 7'x14' PJ low boy dump trailer. 14k capacity. Never a single issue with it.

Thank you for keeping air tools alive. Cordless are great and have their place but in a shop like this, the batteries wouldn't last. Pneumatic is just as good as lithium, even better if you use your tools for extended periods of time every day.
@snoopdogie187

Pneumatic is great for diy also. The tools are cheaper, and at most you worry about replacing a hose. A hose is cheaper than a battery, with the added benefit that you only need one hose, verses two or more batteries per brand of tool.
I stimulated the economy by purchasing a drive/crash/fix/repeat hoodie.
