This 19th Century Dresden Museum Received a Careful Makeover 🤩How Did They Build That? | Smithsonian

Ойын-сауық

In 2001, Daniel Libeskind was hired to design a tasteful extension to the Bundeswehr Museum of Military History, in Dresden. His vision was an ingenious feat of architecture that managed to be both modern and respectful of the city’s tragic past.

It's all so simple. The cities that preserved their cohesion and old architecture attract millions of people worldwide a year for it's beauty. They spend thousands of earned money to go to a place with old architecture. And then modern architects come around and tell us this is special en beautiful. Meanwhile cities that we're destroyed and full of this sht attract zero tourists.

It's awful that they destroyed such a beautiful historical building. However, unfortunately this is no surprise as this is a very common theme in Germany when they tear down so many historical buildings or doing completely unnecessary overhauls like this. I understand they have a troubled history for their country but destroying all of their historical buildings and other sites and items is not the answer to dealing with that history.

@@roadrunner6224 Well firstly I don't watch Fox News nor am I an American Republican as they are the primary audience for Fox News. Secondly, I do understand how the Denkmalshutz functions and I am not particularly a fan because they pick and choose what history and locations they would like to preserve all over Germany and it's other land. This goes for German museums as well. They shouldn't be demolishing historical buildings because they choose to bulldoze over the unsavory parts of their history instead using them as a teaching tool.
