Classy watch, elegant host and sofisticated ambience. What's not to like?

If I am not mistaken, @horology_ancienne (instagram) has a 3970r commissioned and designed by Eric Clapton with a tachometer scale, Breguet at 12 and copper lettering. He also has a 3970p with unique dial, all Breguet numerals with red lettering. Both are stunning!

I want to write comment praising your work, but I can't decide on just one part when everything is soo good. Maybe add your first party subtitles to video for us who don't have English as their first language. Sometimes it's easier to understand text then all the different English accents. Even tho yours is just lovely to listen to.

If you are in the market for a perpetual calendar chronograph, but think that a 3970 is slightly above budget, consider the Vacheron Constantin Malte Perpetual, ref. 47112. The caliber 1141QP is based on the same Lemania ebauche and with VC's own perpetual calendar module. This watch has a more funky art deco design than the Patek, and it has a hunter caseback adding to the amount of precious metal. I am poor and have to settle with a Zenith Chronomaster Moonphase, a regular calendar chronograph in gold with a design language not too different from the 3970 and at 1/10th of the price.

3970 will never be on the level of 5970, because I remember 10 years ago people thought that 5970 and 5004 will be the new 2499, but that didn't happen... Prices have remained flat for 5970 and especially for 5004 for the past 7-10 years. There will be nothing happening to 3970 prices. Furthermore, watches are good for trading, you can make more money trading watches than keeping them as investments. If you have 1 million EUR to play with, build a small team, and start trading, whilst this watch bubble lasts, you can make decent returns. But don't be a sucker who buys watches and keeps them, unless of course you get allocated directly by Patek Philippe a very rare and special piece... For me personally, yellow gold Zenith Daytona 16528 is still way to cheap, you can fetch one in decent condition, full set, for 30-35k euros. I think it is a nice watch to wear and one that will definitely preform better over the next 5-10 years than 3970. But again, I cannot stress this more, the best part of this business, is trading watches and finding private suckers yourself. AVW are doing an amazing job, and they are pros. I am still fascinated how well they play the game and how young they are.

I hear you, but I never advise nor buy myself watches as an investment. I think people should pay for a watch what they think its worth, and given the points in the video’s one can argue its undervalued. Regardless, I prefer to talk about a watch’ aesthetics, history, emotion etc instead of ROI’s or other financial bullshit. So “don’t be a sucker who buys watches to keep them” disqualifies all collectors, including me, who enjoy the product. Note: I understand the title might suggest otherwise but little bit of clickbait-ish 😃

3970 was overproduced and sizing of it was decreased compared to 2499 that’s why it is at lower pricing compared to 5970 or 2499s.

@@golfinguru11 True the 5004 is similar sizing to the 3970 at 36.5mm vs 36mm. The split seconds of the 5004 is where the 5004 went beyond anything else Patek ever made before in the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph line. Also, the 5004 was produced in hundreds of examples where the 3970 was produced in thousands. So, the 5004 will always have an edge to the 3970 both in rarity and complication.

Great video very informative. I agree as well especially for smaller guys the 5970 can wear a bit too big.. 3970 it’s just right

I have seen 5970 and 3970. Even though 5970 is bigger in size, the 3970 to be the original and 5970 deliberately enlarged to satisfy growing demand for bigger wrist watch. The 3970 is like AP 15202, and 5970 is like AP offshore
