Third Eye - Connexion (1977)
Музыка
"Connexion" by Third Eye is not just an album; it's a profound auditory journey through the rich landscapes of jazz, funk, and soul, with a touch of Latin and African influences. Recorded in 1977, this masterpiece epitomizes the fusion genre, delivering an experience that is as intellectually stimulating as it is soulfully engaging. Led by the legendary Jamaican saxophonist Wilton Gaynair, Third Eye offers a collection of four epic tracks that weave deep grooves and stratospheric abstraction into a tapestry of sound that is both innovative and timeless.
The genesis of "Connexion" lies in the fertile musical ground of the Netherlands, where the band initially formed as a trio before expanding into an international ensemble under the leadership of bassist Alfred "Ali" Haurand. With the inclusion of Gaynair, the group's sound matured into a sophisticated blend of modal jazz, spiritual jazz, bop, and fusion. This album stands as a testament to the band's ability to blend various influences into a cohesive and compelling whole. The tracks are meticulously crafted, oscillating between ethereal moods and rhythmic, fusion-oriented patterns, creating a suite-like experience that captures the essence of 70s jazz innovation.
From the opening notes of "Maroon Dance," the listener is drawn into a world of intricate rhythms and melodies. "The Healer" offers a meditative respite, with Gaynair's saxophone leading a spiritual exploration that is both introspective and expansive. "Landings" takes the listener on a journey through complex musical landscapes, while "Ogetnom" closes the album with a vibrant blend of Latin and African influences that leave a lasting impression. Each track is a testament to the band's inventive improvisation and sophisticated musicianship, making "Connexion" a must-listen for any audiophile.

KZread is teaching humility. I thought I knew a lot about electronic music of the 70s/80s …
Not a big fan of Jazz but this right here slaps
A cup of strong coffee, a post-breakfast Camel filter, the gentle birdsong filtering through the window in rural France, and this...! The world ain't such a bad place. .Many thanks for the upload.

That is so evocative and I think the music could also suit a lazy morning in the city, for example here in London... Sound of trains casually clattering past....slice of toast....people coming and going for various reasons....

Arguably more difficult in very basic human areas of survival however the kinetics of our current paradigm are not so much worse perhaps more layered and therefore we need to become more creative to survive and be gratefully content and celebrate joyous everlasting life. HU

Need to look harder, then. You can find some wild things if you click on the weirdest album art in your recommendations. Muito Kaballa Power Ensemble - Mamari (2021) was directly recommended off this video, even.

Man, byrd is so cool
Awesome stuff ❤. I have many albums on vinyl from this period by different jazz artists and they all seem to have this hard edged progressive sound.
Been getting deep into Jazz and Blues lately. So far I really dug Donald Byrd, I also dig this too.
Timeless

flac ... am I right in my thinking that the picture of the window in your video, comes from a 1968 Michael Caine film called, Deadfall ... ?? ...
This album sounds like a spinoff of the band Weather Report which is odd considering that Connexion's other alnums have their own unique sound to them.

Formerly known as Anus; then changed to Brown Eye - finally settled on this name as the others caused a big stink with the public
well it's apparently not adhd. Why would I care?
