Life Force - Fearless Warriors (1981)
Step into the vibrant, soulful world of "Fearless Warriors," an album that captures the spirit of the Civil Rights Movement through the lens of spiritual jazz funk. Released in 1981, this album by Life Force is a tribute to resilience, creativity, and cultural expression. Led by Joe Jennings and Howard Nicholson, the ensemble brings together a rich tapestry of sounds, blending jazz, funk, and world music into a dynamic and inspiring collection.
Recorded at Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, "Fearless Warriors" is a testament to the thriving music scene of the late 1970s. The title track sets the tone with its powerful rhythms and evocative melodies, while "To Pharaoh With Love" pays homage to the legendary Pharoah Sanders with its bossa-inspired groove. Each track on the album is a dedication, whether it's to the unsung heroes of Atlanta or the jazz giants like Duke Ellington.
The album's production, led by Ekkehart Fleischhammer and mastered by Carsten Daembkes, preserves the original 1981 recordings' raw energy and sincerity. This reissue by Sonorama Records ensures that the music of Life Force, with its deep roots in the cultural renaissance of the Civil Rights era, continues to resonate with new generations of listeners.

I found this record a few years ago, under a tarp. behind a mans trailer home, no less. I was in the middle of nowhere and decided to knock, I couldn't tell if he was a hoarder or getting ready for a yard sale, luckily it was both. In the backyard he had just dumped a pile of LPs he'd gotten for free, it was scattered with easy listening, pop music, and so on. This was the only one I pulled and he insisted I take it for free. I'm thankful for finding it, I'm a big jazz head now, and this is one of the three records or so that started the journey for me :)

Another gem dusted off from the forgotten world of 80’s Jazz. Give thanks. If you liked this one, check out the Lounge Lizards albums. Blessings and Respect family

Theres a difference between 70 and 80s music are very different. The look and sound changed. Heavy guitar almost went extinct. MTV almost banned all hard heavy bands. In 83. The eighties was best time in my life, but the Image sucked. It was till late 80s wah wah pedal came back. Wtf. Intermediate level guitarist ‘slash’ from Guns roses brought it back in style. People into jazz are dope fiends? New York’s used to okay, if you were in saxophone

All the talking in that one song really harshes the mellow; It sounds like a load of baloney. Just let the music speak for itself. That is the advice one would give to the young people playing on this track that are now probably moldering away in a retirement home in amsterdam.
