    Denise, I love your words of encouragement in this wig world. They can be fun, challenging and frustrating. But you make it so doable. And I just love your confidence when you whip off one wig and plop on another! Yeah, just like a pro.

    Great job, Denise. I particularly liked how you kept it simple and only incorporated a few techniques to get a desired result. Because the white woman world of wigs has changed over the past five years with an increasing abundance of KZread reviewers now offering their tips on how to modify a wig, it is easy to watch a lot of videos and get overwhelmed on where and how to simply begin. This post, in my mind, demonstrates some basics and repeats the important tenets: go slow, always check your hand to make sure you have the right scissor for what you’re trying to do, leave the top layer of fiber alone to cover cut lines, know changing a wig is scary but necessary because wigs rarely come out of the box without needing some work to make it work for your face shape and features. xo

    Hi! I am new to wigs, I just got my first human hair wig which cost me a couple of thousand dollars. I’ve taken it back to wear I got it to have it thinned, I feel it is still to much hair for me. Which wigs do you prefer synthetic or human. What is a good site to get more wigs and not pay a fortune for them?

    As always, excellent video showing how to make wigs your own. Great tips. Sugar brulee is a beautiful color. Thank you Cathy (I think that was her name) for providing the wig for demo. I'm sure she will happy with it once done. Steaming will definitely help with lift at the front. Do you have a recommendation for a wig stand? The one I bought, that looked heavy duty on Amazon, ended up breaking in half on one of the legs.

    Hi there, I'm finding this video quite interesting, i'm loving this idea, but even though this seems like a very good way to thin this wig, the way you are thinning it, is just thinning off the lower end pieces, shouldn't you thin out some of the upper areas as well? I mean just under the top layers.

    To digress from wigs for a minute, your teeth are so lovely, do you home bleach? If so what do you use? Still researching my first wig (been a while now). I’m still confused about what I need vs what I like………..think kanekalon synthetic (the most realistic?) is what I will buy first but they don’t say what synthetic fibre they use?

    Loved your video. My wig is so full in the back and my bio hair is thin so my wig doesn't look right. It has lots of permatease all around. It is color me beautiful by Paula Young. I had my beautician cut it shorter because it laid too long on my neck. She did some thinning on the sides that looks great but now the back is so full. Do I need to have it thinned or wait to let it relax upon wearing it. Thank you so much for your time you share with us.

  • @heywigsister

    @heywigsister

    Жыл бұрын

    If you can afford to give it time to see if it will relax I would recommend doing that. You can certainly thin it, but it will still relax over time and the risk is that it will relax too much and then it will seem too thin.

    Here is one video I did on this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g4dqttBqY9PYnsY.html and here is another (not quite for getting lift in the front but similar concept) kzread.info/dash/bejne/o5WKrqxmnqy2cZM.html. How well this works will depend on how much lift you need. If you need A LOT then you are better off using steam. I will be showing that in a Tip Tuesday soon!

    Do you have a video on how I can cut bangs into longer layered wigs? Is it possible to do that or do you advise against it?

  • @heywigsister

    @heywigsister

    Жыл бұрын

    I do! Cutting bangs into any wig will depend on how the front lays. Sometimes if the front has a lot of lift or some wave/curl, it will be hard to get the bangs to lay flat without taking heat to them (steam if it is a regular synthetic). Here is a video I did showing how I cut bangs into a wig: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ep58sM2zdq6Tn8o.html

  • @heywigsister

    I would do it the same way, but put it on a mannequin head so that you have more control and can see what you're doing. Put it on periodically to make sure you don't thin too much since it will be hard to tell on the mannequin head.

    What is permatease and is this found on synthetic and also human hair wigs

  • @heywigsister

    @heywigsister

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi! I talk about Permatease toward the end of this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKme07SFmMXLlKQ.html (look in the description for timestamps and you can skip ahead to that part since this video is long). Human hair wigs DO NOT have permatease, and neither do many budget friendly synthetics.... not all synthetic wigs have it, and unfortunately to only way to know is to either find a review where the reviewer talks about it (I talk about it in every one of my reviews, but tip videos like this I would not necessarily mention it) or to buy one and see for yourself... they do not mention it in the descriptions at the retail sites.
