Do you critique sculpture? I am a woodcarver working to achieve solid form in figurative realism, and I would love feedback!

thank you Matt, this is very informative! when I draw head I only think of and see symbols, and the result is sure to be very cartoony. Should one learn all about the basic forms and head anatomy before one can even attempt to draw head?

Hello, I am a Chinese audience. I like your teaching videos very much, but my English listening is not very good. Can you add Chinese subtitles?

Tomorrow will be four weeks into the semester. I'd say in like three more weeks. That is when students will have finished up their first sketchbook.

I don’t quite understand the point you are trying to make here. Is it just to be careful to light your model from a good angle? Maybe show a bad angle for comparison?

You give excellent tips and instruction; however, it is difficult to follow along with you quite often. You have the tendency to start talking about an area first, without pointing out which area you are referring to. Then you lose me. It would be helpful if you could verbally say “moving on to the nose area. . . “ first so my eyes could scan for the itty bitty white direction lines. Or use a pointer or a red circle of the area - something to direct the area of focus. I find that you often give teaching first and my eyes don’t know which area to focus on so you lose me for a bit.

I completely agree with your critique. And I applaud your courage in expressing it here. Often, people are not competent at describing what they are doing as they are doing it. Rather than “wing it”, extemporize, make it up as you go.... write your text out ahead of time. Edit it to be sure it is clear and cogent. Then, read it over the video.
