    This is hard! Everyone can play the notes, but not the rhythm. How your fingers touch the fretboard, the picking, palm muting, tempo.. everything! and you can't practice this song in slow speed because it's feels different.

    You are absolutely right!! There is a reason Nuno is one of the few players doing this kind of technique, it’s very difficult!

    What a easy-to-read tab this is!

    Great job on this tab, accurate as hell. Turns out I've been learning the easy version of this on songsterr. Don't get me wrong, its really handy being able to slow stuff right down and isolate a few notes but I'd rather learn the proper version. I guess nailing this is gonna take 2 years instead of one.

    It's the picking pattern that makes the song on those fast slurred parts. Never seen anyone really cover that. On the 3 notes over 4 semiquavers, it look like he picks the first out of every 3 and hammers on the other two but the notes all sound so strong. I dunno. I've always wished Nuno would do a tutorial on how he picks those fast parts. You can see it's not all picked but it's not all slurred either. cool TAB though. Thanks.

    That passage is so difficult to do really well. He is using thy left hand to be percussive and almost sound as his right hand is picking. Other players like Tosin Abasi are doing some similar concepts with ideas like “selective picking”. A Nuno tutorial would be awesome, he is one of my favorite guitar players.

    @@chrisdelanyguitarist Selective picking? Never heard of that but I'd guess it's almost like there's no pattern...jsut picking notes where they "should" be picked IYGWIM? I have analysed the crap out of this piece. I can play it with a backing track...the only thing I can't do is get those fast passges to sound as coherant. I can play them due purely to the amount of time I've practised this piece over the years. But it's a pisspoor impression. Every cover I've seen is wrong. I honestly wonder if Nuno is just a bit untouchable when it comes to his phrasing and technique. Thanks for answering though! I'lllook into selective picking.

    @@chrisdelanyguitarist ah now that I know about. Nuno does that all over the place. Peacemaker die, no respect - those are consistent patterns though. On ME it’s the second part of the verse where he’s moving across the strings gradually. Watching his right hand he does look like he’s picking more than just the number 1 in each group of 3. It’s that part. Cool vid though. I will try some of those patterns.

    @@phil12323 yeah Nuno’s been doing this kind of stuff for a while now but it’s cool that there are people trying to expand on it and make it a more standard technique.

    Nuno is just one of the best and a constant inspiration! Also, something about Portuguese/South American musicians that just have the tightest rhythms and grooves. It’s just imbedded in the culture!

    I get what this is so fucking difficult now. Nuno doesn't need to pick the string in order to sound like picking in some parts. Correct me if i'm wrong but I think in 1:41 he just picks the D string and the rest is just his left hand.

  • @chrisdelanyguitarist

    @chrisdelanyguitarist

    Жыл бұрын

    He does a lot of that selective picking where some of the notes are sounded only with the left hand. Another guitar player who does this a lot is Tosin Abasi. On that part and the other parts of the tune where he does that figure or similar figures I’m pretty sure he is only using his left hand in the low E string. Check out 4:37 and you can see better. Nuno makes this look way too easy, you are right this is way harder than it looks and takes some serious left hand strength and coordination!!
