It is a college town. Terribly hot in Summer. Lasts from Mid May until first of October. A LONG TIME! Typical East side of Lubbock is the older/ 11:04 poorer part of town. Watch out buying homes around Texas Tech for your children. A lot of thieves. The newer homes are expensive, so there is a lot of older homes that are flipped for students coming in for the Fall each year.

I just recently visited Lubbock and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the Physical Therapy program and I have to say I was just absolutely MIND-BLOWN with the university campus and the health science center! I even got to drive around the city of Lubbock, eat at a really good local bbq restaurant The Shack BBQ (missed out on Evie Mae’s which I didn’t know about until after the fact), and everything is close by, the homes look awesome! After visiting Lubbock and Texas Tech University, it has moved up to a top two choice and I could see myself residing here for PT school if I get accepted! I was honestly surprised that i really ended up liking Texas Tech University and Lubbock. I loved the fact that it was a big city with a small town feel which I felt people were friendly, welcoming, a sense of community, and it definitely had that strong college town feel as it truly felt like Red Raider country. Lubbock reminded me so much of the UC Davis and the city of Davis, a college town in California where I went for my undergraduate degree, the same college town feel and sense of community.

I'm so glad to hear you had a good trip and loved TTUHSC! I am a Texas Tech grad and I love how the entire town definitely embodies the Red Raider spirit. Reach out if you ever have any questions about where to live if you chose TTUHSC! I"m a little biased of course but I think you will love it if you are looking for a sense of community and a wonderful school for PT.

I keep getting told about the big city advantages both in this channel and Lubbockliving but I haven't seen anything yet that small towns don't have. I'm not going out of my way to a dust bowl city without some motivation and variety of locations of interest. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lnxrtrN8gpeWlMY.html - This is the only video I have seen that shows some life in Lubbock.
