@@rokgoesaround I would like to propose you to add 3 more locations for someone to visit while being in Athens. First is the newly founded complex of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) located on the crossection of Poseidon Avenue (avenue that is parallel in almost all of Athens Riviera) and Syngrou Avenue that is Avenue from Hadrians Arch all the way to south to the Athens Riviera. SNFCC is a very modern building completely autonomous and green energy saving due to the solar panels on its roof. It houses the National Library with all its archives and the National Opera of Greece to an exquisite acoustic theatre. Also on its terrace you have and incredible 360 degree view to Athens the Riviera of Athens and towards the magnificent hill of Pireas Castella. Also has a canal that you can go sailing enormous grounds filled with plants and trees and a summer cinema. My second suggestion is a visit to 2 of the 3 ports of Pireas main port of Athens preferably in the afternoon and night. It is a must a stroll in the second largest port of this city the yacht port and further to Piraiki area which many consider as one of the most beautiful along with the streets of its Castella hill. Upon leaving the yacht port going over to Piraiki you will be able to see the Long Walls of Athens which encompassed Athens Piraeus and Faliro making the whole area a huge fortress. After a long stroll there you head back to the yacht port and start to walk to the smaller of the 3 ports of Pireas the fishing port of Mikrolimano which is a rather small stroll. Microlimanon is full of tavernas and some elegant and expensive restaraunts and some very trendy bars. I suggest that the next part of exploring the streets of Castella being done in another day again afternoon and at the end in the evening it’s a must to eat in one of the 2 restaurants on top of the hill near Profitis Ilias church facing to the Faliro bay. One of them even has a terrace with a spectacular view to Faliro but also a part of the Riviera and almost all of Athens. I believe it’s the best night view in whole of Attiki. I know that my third proposal might sound quite morbid but a visit to First cemetery of Athens en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Cemetery_of_Athens will only fulfill a lover of sculptour with immense joy with the statues and elaborate sculptured tombs. I think it’s one it’s kind worldwide.

@@rokgoesaround Let me correct you as a Greek and someone who born in Athens and lived there for 37 years. Lycabettus Hill isn't the highest point in Athens. The Highest point of the city is neighboring Hill Called Tourkovounia or Lycovounia with elevation of 337 meters while Lycabettus elevation is 277 meters.

Well, to be honest, whenever I give advice about what totem or where to go in Athens, I usually say not to go to the National - unless they really want to, or have a specific interest. The Benaki & Acropolis museums are more interesting & much more compact.

Great video. You covered a lot, I just wish you included a few minutes in The National Archeological Museum. Not sure why you didn't. The museum is, in my eyes one of the top 3 things to see in Athens and really should be included. It's also a great idea to focus a little on the modern achievements of Athens like the new National Art Gallery and The Stavros Niarchos National Arts center. Great job, great host and you did your homework. Love the videography as well. Give us more, please. Thank-you.

I have to disagree. Whenever I give advice on where to go & things to do in Athens, I always say not to visit the National - unless the person really wants to or has a specific interest. For me, after you've seen one floor of orange/black Byzantium pots, it's enough. The Benaki & Acropolis museums are much more compact.

Great for those having only 2-3days and wanting to visit the ancient sites of Athens but there is a new modern Athens that is worth seeing too if you have more time. Most ot the places you have mentioned can be visited within a few days but to experience Athens you need some extra time. Lots to see and do. Temple of Poseidon at Sounion should have been on the list. You can also see where Lord Byron scratched his name on the stone if you know where to look.

Fantastic video. Thank you. I've been in Athens in 2016 when I also did the Athens Marathon, an amazing experience, to do that special marathon. I visited most of the places you mentioned in this video, but saw some areas of Plaka which I missed, so I better go back :) We also did a day trip ( by train ) to Meteora, and that was fantastic too. It is just a very long day as Meteora is quite a distance from Athens. Mabe not in Athens, but worth a visit is also Lake Vouliagmeni, located in the heart of the Athenian Riviera. A absolute must visit. Once again thanks for the amazing video.

This was really wonderful ! I've been coming to Greece & Athens since 1973 & have had a place, just up from Monastiraki, for many years. I wonder if you could re-do this & add on another 3 places to visit (maybe you could make it 15 places. Lol). Definitely on my list would be Philipappou Hill. My favourite spot in Athens. I walk all around there regularly. It's wonderful & quiet -- away from the busy City. The whole area is awesome -- the monument, Socrates' prison, the original Piraeus/Athens Koile Road, Simon's tomb, the area where philosophers had their houses, the Observatory and the incredible Hill of the Pnyx (where sermons took place) & so much more.

Thank you! I was living in Ukraine and for the time being I'm not going back. I work online, so I ended up becoming like a nomad. It's crazy that for me Athens has been cheaper in comparison to Eastern European cities like Bucharest, Gdansk, or Sofia. So decided to follow your recommendations and I have completed 11/12 (so far I haven't been to Monastery of Daphni). Acropolis Museum (like 6 euros) is nice, but IMO the The National Archeological Museum (like twelve euros) is better (there's also an audio in the app you suggested). You have a new subscriber and thanks a lot for all your recommendations!

Athens was FULL of beautiful Neo-classical buildings in the late 1800s - 1920s. . And then the 1960s came . . . with demolition & concrete.

@@mehediimran8256 Dear Imran as per your above comment: First I will disregard your childish emoji, no need to act immature, act your age. Second I will suggest you show some respect to your country and use a capital letter when you referring to it. Third using your logic “now it belongs to Turkey” then Kemal’s birth house now belongs to Greece. Hopefully now you see that your logic is flawed.
