More specifically You accidentally assign an entire army to a new order in the middle of the war They strat-redeploy for no reason, lose their org, die, and you lose the war peak czechoslovakia vibes

Another annoying feature is during late game when your puppets keep on giving you hundreds of divisions, some of which you cannot delete.

I don’t think you can delete any of them unless you annex the puppet. If you click delete the AI just gets control of the division

You can give the division back to the puppet, but it’s extremely annoying to have to do it every single time they recruit a division. It would be nice to have a button that lets me automatically give them back, or just not take them.

I remember assigning a railway gun as Italy and instead of taking the railways from the bottom of Italy to the top it instead tried to cross the sea, got intercepted by British subs and died straight away

Something I realized recently that I now despise is that if AI Germany capitulates the USSR, they annex the entire country, even with historical focuses turned on. Historically, it would have been extremely difficult to conquer and occupy the entire Soviet Union. There is no reason AI Germany should be taking land beyond the Ural Mountains, so when they do, it’s super immersion-breaking.

I hate when I have to fight whole world just because of my claim on some small teritory ,even just because I want to reclaim my core but no , you have to fight whole war instead of option to end war after you just grab that small part of land (even from minor) and instantly you are at war with major faction so you have to beat most of the world for one piece of land

There really should be an territorial ultimatum mechanic. an interface that lets you select states to demand and send an ultimatum. itd probably be very cheeseable if its based on division calculated strength but theres probably a way to balance it. there should be a modifier for major nations to not accept because it shouldnt be possible to get land from the UK or USSR when you are Iran. for minors though this would be very useful. and the 10% world tension limit for UK guarantees should really be raised a bit.

Something I hate is when your expanding as a small nation and the country your fighting just joins a faction (mostly allies) so now your at war with everyone

You can use reorganize the railway system only once, it works for only 3 months and when you build 3 supply hubs, i cancels

I can't understand why you can take civilian trains when your country doesn't know what a train it. Also some countries in hoi4 know how to make a tank before a truck.

Tbh, Trains did come before Trucks, Historically.

I hate when you take territory the front line assigned to an Army after a pile or two just goes bananas and extends to unimaginable front line sometimes on the entire front and messes up my whole plan... I dont play by just field marshal front line my armies i assign each army to take different obiectives just like IRL but NO when my panzers breakthrough their front line stretches from 1 - 2 tiles to THE WHOLE FRONT and i have to manually shorten each front line for each advancement...... Ugh

Supply isn’t really that bad. You can always get around supply hubs by building ports along the coast and then setting them to motorized.

the bad thing is when you're a landlocked nation like communist china or Austria it doesn't work

I’ve used conditional surrender only once, when I started playing and the Netherlands declared war against me when I wasn’t prepared and started rampaging through my country. It said they would accept a conditional surrender, so I pressed it and that was the only time so far.

the worst thing about the undeletable units, especially from italy is, that when you have them as a puppet and then decide to annex them you cant even click the decision that disbands all of them anymore. And considering you get an italian puppet like almost every single time you invade them that is so fricking annoying

The only thing I hate the most about this game is having to buy dlcs and more the new logistics system in the war area is a bit tedious having to build supplies and sometimes they take too long

you forgot to add the allies navel invading you like 2,000 times every game unless you have 40 port guards

Maybe it’s because I’m a more old fashioned player cause I’ve been playing since death or dishonor, but I literally hate that when you’re doing agency upgrades that when you finish it there’s no pop-up at the top like free research slots cause I just click off everything man 😩

One thing I hate is how there are some notifications you just can’t turn off. I don’t need a notification for every single tiny country that’s part of the allies joining the war against me

Having military access to a country and not being able to use the other country's airbases

Supply hub's big cost makes them more "strategically important" objects that you can't build fast enough for your advancing army. You have to fight for them (or in MP, defend them fiercely)

it still isn't realistic, like how in the hell just building a station to unload guns n shit costs more than building 3 entire factories from the ground?

And also achievement Tojo shot first was really frustating, because to get this achievement you have to played as Japan and then nuked the american core teritory before you get nuked by american. The frustating from this achievement, that's because Japan didn't have national focus that's can boost atomic research, the only man can boost atomic research for Japan was Nishio for 10%

Although, yes, supply is always the worse thing in Hoi4.

one of the reasons i stopped playing hoi was because paradox dont test how focuses effect other countries. two examples are britian and australia. 1. as the uk you suddenly lose political power because mexico has a focus that kicks out british oil companies. before mexico does that britian doesnt get a bonus to oil exports or even takes a oil export debuff from mexico, it just loses political power when 99% of the time, britian wont import mexican oil anyway. secondly, if britian goes anything but democratic, austrlia has half its focus tree locked off, thing is that part of the focus tree is everything to do with industry and research. i honestly think paradox dont play test hoi4 outside of germany and the ussr anywhere near enough than they should.

Especially circular front lines, as well as when you’re fighting with another faction in the same war

the problem with the conditional surrender button is that its for YOU to surrender, not the enemy so its pretty useless even if they agree and the times they do agree you need to be in the losing side

The best way to deal with un-deletable units is to naval invade them into an enemy tile with no harbour and forget about them

The worst thing is focuses that give literal debuffs, like why the hell would i take a focus just to be punished?

I've heard the game is oriented towards total war, that is annihilation war until total victory or total defeat, I understand that point of view but it shouldnt be a general rule but stablish some groups of countries that would be more inclined to accept peace even at low surrender progress, ideology could have a small effect on peace accepting, it makes sense for Soviets and Germany and even UK or USA to want to fight till the last drop of blood, but Brazil? Peru? Chile? Or even Italy which they currently have tweaked to depose Mussolini after losing some cores,

I used conditional surrender once, when a nation just randomly declared war on me (in vanilla game) and I was so annoyed I used "yesman" and game just assumed I had lost and my country got annexed, even those I was germany and enemy was netherlands(maybe)

One of the most annoying things about this game is trying to switch ideologies with the default focus tree. God forbid that you are democratic, or else you might have to wait longer than a year doing absolutely nothing while the ideology support slowly increases.

I was playing as the soviets and i assigned some railway guns to an army staitoned near konigsberg an they kept moving to the port and going through sea to memel and reapeating that

I remembered my allies ai eating my supply, but that frontline is just for me to operate damnit. And if i outnumbered my allies number in the frontline, its still stand still completely eating my supply

Turn off allied supply in the supply map mode

if you wait a little after dlcs come out you can buy them for 5-6 euros at max on key shops

And when AI spamming divisions it dont has problems with supply unlike player in such situation

I conditional surrendered as Soviet Union once when I was at a stalemate in the dniper and lost Moscow Leningrad and Stalingrad and my entire army ceased to exist

The ai divison spam is real one game I inflicted more then 100 million casualties and I wasn't farming them

Also, I fully stand by the opinion that, rather than mods, player-led peace conferences and toolpack should straight up be base game features which you can choose to toggle on and off when you're playing solo. Because f***k the AI and the retarded as f***k war score system. Some time ago I was playing monarchist Germany shortly after By blood alone had dropped: I flipped Italy to my side, started and swiftly won WW2, then the peace conference happened and, because I had taken extremely low casualties, while the Italians were headbutting the Western Alps and getting butchered in Africa the whole time, I literally did not manage to take a single f***ing tile. I despise the AI.

I don't like how basic stuff requires dlc take navy, more focuses ect when paradox make HOI5 they need to make HOI4 dlc free otherwise people will use mods like myself

Trains are something that predates ww2 by a lot, and somehow there are still countried that have to research them I can understand Nepal and Bhutan, but why should countries like Siam have to research them?

Ok paradox I understand the need for dlc but why do we need to have a dlc TO FUCKING EQUIP SUPER BATTLESHIPS like at that point there isn’t no point in having them without dlc

I find this game to be amazing conceptually, allowing for us deranged nerds to have fun. But Holy Shit if the mechanics and executation aren't god awful!

This is why i use better mechanics mod.

I hate the awful DLC reliant model. A full priced game should not come with hundreds of dollars worth of DLC and expansions. I'd gladly buy the game itself, if it was a full game, instead of a barebones husk that requires DLC to be fun. This is why no one should feel ashamed when pirating this game.
