Yes! At one point, I was skating and this little girl came the wrong way going really fast, and was like a foot away but I couldn’t stop in time but she luckily went around me

My local rink actually routinely swaps the direction multiple times a session. Every 20 or so minutes the DJ will stop the music and announce "everyone stop, turn around, and go the other way"

Is it really that bad if it's not crowded? It was the first time ever skating for my bf and me, we were as close together as we could be and stayed to the very outer edge. We want to learn how to skate and thats the only place with flat surfaces where I live 😫

@@brown_gurl If you're with one other person, dw that's fine! Just stay around the edge, or even the center! The center is always the best spot for new comers in my experience. There's usually white painted lines indicating where the slow area is [ The center is the area for new skaters, slow skaters, etc ]

Y’all must have not been skating long or are young. I go skating all the time. Kids are going to be there and they are going to make mistakes and get wild. Do two things: either go on adult night, the skate park or learn to skate.

@@hikerguy3895 I’m from a small town and it’s always crowded lol. We don’t even have a proper rink anymore. I’ve been skating for years and do artistic skating, we don’t have an adult night where I’m from. At most we have an adult song where only adults can skate for like 3 mins but where I’m from 80% of skaters are adults so that’s crowded too. My skates can’t be used outdoors. I’m looking to buy some skates for outdoors but park skating is not in my interest. You can say we’re inexperienced or to go skate somewhere else all you want, but I personally can dodge 99% of skaters- it only takes one reckless kid (or adult) going too fast and not looking where they’re going to ruin your day, not that I let it ruin mine. You act like we aren’t allowed to discuss annoying things. They’re allowed to be there and so are we. Don’t tell us to go away. That’s just toxic behaviour and makes skating exclusive.

The DJ where I skate said she only plays reqests if tipped. So I gave myself a tip. I bring my earbuds so I can listen to what I want.

One time when I was in third grade, this lady in about her 30’s started going to fast and going out of control, and she tried to grab and lean of my freaking 3rd grade year old body to stop herself. Causing me to go crashing down, and her to be fine. My birthday was very upsetting that year…

I personally love when ppl come and talk with me. It gets kinda boring when you’re just waiting in the skate room

8 : Don't swerve through people at high speeds. I once fell back because someone swerved through me and my friends. Was not a fun night. At all. Had to sit out the rest of the time. If you're going at high speeds, swerve a couple feet back 9: Don't fall backwards when you're purposefully falling. You're gonna have to get used to falling on your knees. Please. I almost rammed into a kid and dropped on my knees literally a foot away from her, usually people just forcibly fall back but it's a lot safer to fall on your knees if you're about to run into anyone. 10: DONT PUT YOUR KIDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RINK AND FUCKING LEAVE THEM AND THEN GET MAD WHEN THEY FALL OR SOMEONE REMOVES THEM FROM THE RINK AND BRINGS THEM TO STAFF.

You sound like a Karen if everyone followed the rules you wouldn’t have this problem if your a beginner you should be in the middle and if you plan on going slow don’t stay near the walls or try to make wide turns at the ends the outer most part of the rink is for people going faster who have to take wider turns but typically scared people are always there

@@oxicon cause some parents want to bring their kids to places like this, drop them into the rink, and just go off and do whatever for an hour or two without having to bother to watch their own kid. Then when the kid falls or gets brought back to them by someone else they get angry about it.

This video is so accurate. Although I don’t mind talking to people at the skate check in/ return as long as it’s not busy and they aren’t those kids who ask why their song hasn’t played yet over and over again

i had to hold my friends hand to help them balance bc they’re new skaters😭but as soon as i saw them start to fall i either pulled them up or let go💀

and follow the flow of everyone, if they’re going clockwise, don’t go the other way, there are often signs telling you which way to go, don’t ignore them, it’s annoying and dangerous

@@cyberseph this is so true the place I go too has tons of experienced and inexperienced skaters the last thing anyone needs is a conga line of falling because one person lays on the floor, the inexperienced can't manoeuvre around like me and the good skaters and the good skaters are using going very fast which makes it harder to watch yourself around others, see how one person can cause problems?

Someone in the roller rink once requested wap, And the DJ didn’t know what that was so he put it on, And everyone just stared awkwardly at each other and the DJ was like: “Shit what have I done” And I was laughing uncontrollably and the person that requested it roller skates like crazy to the music. Haha yeah it was that awkward 😂😅

what about being in a group of ten people all holding hands taking up the entire skate floor. i understand they’re having fun and we all did it when we weee younger while hanging out with friends, but it becomes a block and people can’t get around. leaves major risk for injuries, especially for those of us who speed skate lol.

I went to roller skate rink for my birthday and brought my best friend, they didn’t know how to skate but I love skating so I thought I’d share something I love with someone I love. Anyway they ended up falling and having a hard time getting up even with my help and we were in the way of some people, I pulled her out of the way to help her up and the owner of the place, who was some old guy, comes and starts yelling at us and wouldn’t let me explain that my friend fell and I was trying to help

My mom used to work at a rink, owned by her best friends and their parents, and I was really annoying. Sadly, the rink shut down because the ceiling was collapsing, and they didn’t have enough money to repair it. It’s now a storage shed.

At my roller rink they play any song and the dj just plays the clean versions of inappropriate ones. Also I feel like laying on the floor would result in ending up with your fingers or legs getting run over-

My local roller-skating rink got closed down :( Nearest one is hours away. It's a shame, because seeing these shorts give me so many memories 😭

when i was like 8 my best friend's step dad owned my local skate rink so i got free food, got to go to the vip and staff only rooms and got to tell the dj what to play next.

Another rule to add. Do Not be on your phone while skating. Was helping my son skate and a teen about my height was too busy paying attention to his phone and crashed right into us. Thankfully his phone broke after falling so he wasn't able to continue playing on it.

Yes to all of these but why is everyone’s rink so much better than ours I can’t-

I once had to climb over a wall in rollerblades to get help from the employees because some dude decided not to use his brakes nor watch where he was going. He crashed into my then four-year-old sister and lay on her, laughing. She ended up breaking her arm, and nobody would help. We ended up getting banned for breaking the rules and causing a scene.
