    ”Billions of micro plastics into your tea” I’m sorry but how?? A bleach paper pouch with a cotton jarn isn’t going to do that. Also, something releasing micro plastics when it’s disintegrating in use (say, a sponge) and being made out of micro plastics (glitter, some facial scrubs, technically fibers of certain synthetic fabrics like acrylic) are two different things. Things that aren’t made out of plastic and that don’t require a plastic based components/materials/tools in their production do not release micro plastics. Criticality, people!! Overall decent tips, don’t get me wrong.

    How are you telling people to think critically, yet not even taking 30 seconds to google lmao. A) a lot of cheap tea brands use nylon/ plastic bags these days.... those are the ones that leach microplastics, as confirmed by a study conducted at the university of Quebec in 2019. Here's the doi nr: 10.1021/acs.est.9b02540. B) there's also potentially some danger in paper tea bags, due to the chemicals used in bleaching C) in my country, manufacturers are not required to list what materials tea bags are made of/ what chemicals are used in the process. Check your teabags, do they have any info on that? Probably not. Hint: if they feel glossy/ soft, thy're made of plastic, not paper

    @@violetblue2897 do you not search into the brand of tea that you're drinking? I mean, yeah loose leaf is always better, but for instance Stash tea really isn't that expensive and is even compostable from what I can tell. Also, please specify which university, there are a lot here and although I assume you mean McGill as it's the more science-y English university that would pop up for English searches, I can't read your mind to know which Quebec university you're talking about. There are quite a few, as it turns.

  • @violetblue2897

    @violetblue2897

    @@elirewasout uhm... if you think people should research tea brands extensively before buying you're agreeing that there is an issue with some brands? Personally, I think consumers should be able to just spontaneously pick up something from a supermarket shelf and not have to worry, but I guess we can agree to disagree on that one. I specifically included the doi number of the article so you could find it easily? If you're not familiar with those, that number identifies a research article so it's quicker to find. You can just copy paste it into pubmed (or wherever you normally read research papers)

    They make these reusable silicone grooming rakes that work to de-shed your dog while you brush🙂 a lot of dogs have dual hair coats, meaning that when you roll, you may only be getting the outermost layer of hair, and loose hairs are more likely to be shed onto surfaces. The rollers work great for cleaning up couches and clothing, but they aren’t so effective for deshedding, and using a rake can help with your dogs skin by allowing air circulation and reducing risk for mats🐾

The cognitive dissonance is shocking, how can you talk about sustainability while you have acrylic nails and buy food in plastic bags? Shops where you can refill your glass jars with pasta/rice/beans (just as an example) are quite diffused nowadays (I even have one in my super small Swiss village) I am wondering what is this all about at some point, maybe you waste less than most of the average people but what you say is sustainability it is actually not reflecting in your actions.
