actually this isnt the first time that artists have been threatened by modern technology. ever since the days of the Mona Lisa artists were usually hired to paint portraits. this was tedious, time consuming and among other thing quite expensive but the end result was often very good. but when the 1800s rolled around the camera was invented which made getting a portrait cheaper and far faster. ever since then artists have stopped only painting portraits and have gotten creative with imagery and messaging

On my country's language it is feminine solely because it includes machine in it's name, like everything else with machine in it's name. And when alone the washing or cleaning part can be either one, but it needs to be one of them.

In French it can be both, depending on the word you use : "machine à laver" is feminine because of "machine" which is feminine. However if you use "lave-linge" (cloth-washer) then it's masculine.
