If those plastic coverings were still around it would be useless in my household because the dogs would tear them up with their claws!

I remember seeing oil lamps in the 80's, that gave me a flashback. I hated the vinyl covers on sofas, didn't even wanted go visit because of them😅

I once had to decipher a shopping list for my dad when he was filling in for my mom at the supermarket. He didn't understand what her "TP, y, p & w" meant so I explained it was for "yellow, pink and white" to match our three bathrooms! Haha! I once decided to stick my finger onto one of the fibers of a rain lamp that was on display in our local Gemco! It actually disturbed the droplets and that little interruption didn't work itself out until it ran all the way down to the base! It also left a weird oily substance on my finger that wasn't as easy to wipe away as water!

Most of those ads are from the 40s-60s. Still fun.

Oddly could not find any advertisments of it in the 70s so I had to make due with what i could find. Hopefully it didn't spoil the experience!

🎉 retro greetings from coastal Mississippi. I loved the 70's decor. I had the Formica, the colour toilet paper , the Avon and bead curtains. I still have all my Avon decor. If l could go back to the 70's, l would stock up on colour toilet paper and colour facial tissues ❤😂🎉

I would too! Brings a touch of personality to an otherwise mundane task

My grandma had an oil rain lamp with the lady holding the towel. Such a beautiful lamp.

Funny thing about those plastic sofa n chair covers, they didn't stop the foam from deteriorating decades later when they finally got removed.of course the cushions didn't have a spot on them though.😚

I think that pink American Standard bathroom pictured was somewhat older than the 70s. But I would gladly have such a vintage bathroom in turquoise, or blue.

colored tissue paper, I have told my kids how i use to make barbie clothes out of them. I was so excited to show them they really did exist lol. felt like a kid again hiding under the bright kitchen table cloth with the stolen box of tissues , rubber-bands and tape. I miss the simpler times.

I remember seeing an early 50s Formica ad, spilled milk in the picture, and starting with a question "Who spanks the children in your house?" Evidently, spilling drinks often got you an immediate whoopin back then. But, because the counter top was Formica, the spill cleaned easy, and the errant child was spared from the whoopin.

My grandmother had a sofa like that very first one on the video. A photography studio bought it based off of the online photos.

This is a great little video but all of the pictures that you're showing are from the 50s and 60s and colored toilet paper was invented in the 50s and formica countertops were actually used way before the 70s 60s or 50s. Actually it was invented in 1912. Still love the video though it's fun!

Those "rain" lamps could be deadly. Especially when they were left on too long. If you were lucky, they simply croaked, while stinking of melted plastic. If you weren't lucky, you had a nasty fire.

I vaugly remember the colored toilet paper in the early 1980s. I don't remember when they stopped making it.

Formica was never considered chic it was and is popular because it was cheap. And it's always been considered a cheap option. People with money did not have formica on their countertops or on their floors.
