Diet award will honestly make the diet more motivating. The society demands idols to be skinny imo, not the industry. Idols who looks heavier than the norm when debut won't succeed, guaranteed. As we see, even the current one if gaining weight will be called lazy by the netizens, and labelled like 'they look like ordinary human, not idol' lol Except when you're a boy group, they won't be criticized as much

The "line distribution" reminds me of what Zi Tao (former EXO member) said to chinese trainess from a show. He said they (his members) didn't even fight for line distribution because it's better to give more lines to famous members in order to get more attention for their group. And about the trainess' debt, sometimes or most of the time, idols who debuted didn't get proper or enough pay until a year or two because of how big it is and sometimes it used as a reason for companies to cheat them even though their (kpop groups) groups are famous and have enough income to payed their debt. The company will tell the idols that it's not yet enough or they not finish paying yet and that will be the reason why idols will work harder, making them sick and tired just to pay them in order to get what they work for not knowing that the company was just use them as a cash cow.

I'm not talking about specific idols, but I bet idols who are not that great of a vocalist would love having fewer lines, especially if the group consists of more than 5 members. MV/Live screen time is better than having more lines. There have always been at least one or two members that are not that great at singing, even since 2nd gen. But companies did a great job at not revealing it too much. Nowadays groups don't have clear positions of who is who and fans campaigned for idols to have even lines, the lesser vocalist is more apparent now.

I feel like this is very unsurprising. If you were a fan of K-pop back in the day when like AOA was at their Hay Day and fnc was like a bigger name than it is now as a company you would know that they did like a reality show with the girls and they were on diets I remember them being like weighed in front of the staff and everyone on camera while they filmed it and then they told her they were allowed to eat food while the other girls got like chicken and stuff they got like a potato and some salad because they didn't lose enough weight. I've also seen other X trainees come out and talk about how they would get weighed in front of everyone they basically have a scale in the front and everyone would have to walk up get weed and then they would tell you if you lost or gained weight in front of everybody. In terms of money unless you come from one of the big companies in your group is super popular as soon as you debut you're actually just gaining debt which is kind of sad. But I also feel like you have to understand that companies do this on purpose. Like if they have you in debt to them and you can make them a bunch of money they'll do that. Not to mention I feel like the only way for a smaller group to make a lot of money is that they somehow managed to get ambassador ships because those are normally a pretty penny you're talking a couple hundred thousands of dollars just to get a celebrity sign on even if it is like a smaller idol because it would be opening up the Korean market. And that would be just pure income because the company is not paying for anything so they would just deduct however much money they need to from your paycheck.

imo, these poor girls really should get some real life sense before committing to career of kpop idols. if you are not good enough for the big3 - fuck it up, lets find a more reasonable job to do. there are plenty of advantages that you could get only at big companies. they charge less payments and your debut is 100% payback in like first three months. you will always have a better promotions and career choices in a long term, access to luxury brands as well. the quality of music, style and how others treat you is just different. smaller companies will get you in debt for sure and you can never earn enough money to live it rich and effortless. they usually heavily exploit their idols, but chances of your success are so low it all would be more like a nightmare than a dream. dozens of different nugu groups debuting each year, but in the world of big3 influence they are literally nothing. i pity them and at the same time don’t understand this dreamy look about being an idol.

Dance lessons, vocal lessons, and some other things depending on your situation. Like do you live in the dorms or do you live at your parents house? Do you eat (nothing) at the company or do you eat what you’re parents made you. Like how are idols that much in debt?

I feel that's why being in big companies like JYP,YG etc are good for debt bcz every company pays for their trainee to train them well and that debt the idol to pay once they debut but being in big company u can pay it all quickly bcz u get payed more. Diet award shouldn't be there I feel bcz a trainee life is one of the most exhausted life bcz u have to overwork so much then dieting skipping meals will make u unfit and its not good for ur health u can have medical issues. I feel like idols shall be free to express their opinions, choices rather than putting a choice the company wants them to say. Yeah, I feel having less lines ain't a issue for idols bcz u have less burden or u have to overwork than ur groupmates. But I also feel having too less lines ain't even that good bcz ur talent is hidden all the time. I also feel being a idol doesn't means the company will own you,bcz they will make you wear uncomfortable and unsecure clothes, getting surgeries even if u don't want to ur forced to.

Everyone acting like the debt thing is so unfathomable and evil fails to realise the deal is much better than going to college in most of the Western world. The average time it takes to repay a student debt is 21 years whereas, even with Momoland barely being a middling group at best, Daisy paid off her MUCH larger debt in under 4 years. She saw no money for herself in that time, but the company covered her costs for accomodation, food, clothes etc and she had easy access to numerous luxuries regular people have to work much longer to be able to afford or enjoy without going broke. I’d say that’s a great bloody deal from a company that invested over $100,000 into giving you a chance at becoming rich yourself. Even the diet thing… have y’all been living under a rock or something? Go to any ballet academy, go to any American football academy or even go to a youth football club over in England. Tough expectations on children in high competition fields is the norm around the world; it isn’t unique or especially bad in Kpop.

Both of the things that you said are true, it not like they don't have were to live or food or anything like that, is normal and logic that they have to "pay" the money that was invested in them (and don't come from their or family pockets either), and is not a small investment to train an idol, and people often forget that they know what they are getting in to, is not like they are forced to become an idol is their choice, and some group pay the debt faster than others, even are groups were some members paid their debt faster than the other members because solo activities, for example yoona of girls generation. And other thing, i don't know if still like that, but at les in the past idol have corporate cards, that they can used to pay food and other things. And the diet thing, is true that you can see it in a lot of disciplines, like ballet, gymnastics, boxing, american football and a lot of other ones. But i think that the problem is more because the extreme of them, and is not just in idols or korea, is in mostly all of the entertainment industry, like models, actors/actress and others, i remenber when models would eat cotton balls so they wouldn't feel hungry, and also the agencies will, beacuse they still do it, demand to the models to have certain measurements, chests, waist, hips and everything possible, so you can said that they have it worst. Even France in the 2000~2010 have to implement a law for fashion shows and brands to don't have models that were extremely skinny, because they were dying and it was a bad example for young children. Because of that nowadays model are skinny but not bones with skin like back then.
