Things did’n’t go as planned... Overlanding Arizona Mogollon Rim
Sometimes life hands you lemons on your overlanding trips. This was definitely the case as Cara and I take off on our last day together and then separate and I begin the Mogollon Rim trail in search of epic views and campsites.

Depends on who you ask lol
👍 Isn’t Jerome a cool town! The Haunted Hamburger is our go to restaurant, the view and chocolate cake let alone the burgers are amazing. You crazy kids sure know how to make the best of every situation. I apologize for that rude cow, normally they are very pleasant to talk too. Lol! Now that you’ve been out west in the desert and up on the Mogollon Rim y’all have to go to the White Mountain area to the Apache National Forest around Big Lake. 9000ft elevation tall trees and beautiful lakes. Thanks Matt for another incredible adventure.
All I can tell you is, welcome to my backyard. Yes, one or the other way we are all jealous of your backyard (aka. Ozarks), but AZ has a lot to offer. Yes, there is more than just cactus and a lot of nothing. I am glad you enjoyed your trip in the back country.
Head to Kingman and Florence for some pretty good rock crawling. Check out the “charalou gap” trail near Tucson. Extremely scenic. Thanks for sharing ✌️

a couple years ago charlough gap got washed out at a spot so it is only passable by rigs hardcore enough to not be highway safe. did the forest service build it back up?

@@jdm8099 theres a hill climb maybe 1 mile or so beyond the “unsurvivable” obstacle. It’s pretty washed out still. Having a spotter for it, is definitely recommended
There is a ton of hard rock crawling in AZ. A fun full day around Phoenix is rocker panel pass, then over to squeeze rock and then out through sycamore creek.
Hey 👋 guys u look great. I been away for A while but now am back….. like Arnie was ❤🇯🇲❤ one love
Hey...I know that Defender! Danielle was our chef & campsite finder magician during our GoXplorUSA Spring Waterfall trip! Bummer to see damage to it during this trip!
Love that area, another amazing video! The Haunted Hamburger is awesome if you need a burger fix.
It was great meeting you guys this weekend. Hope to see you on the road.
Well you guys were an inspiration to me, I got to take a two week trip from Georgia to Utah. We camped our way out and spent a week in Moab , where I got to do some trails and see the beauty. Hope to get to meet y’all in person one day to thank you !

Next time your in Arizona you should Check out the apache trail. It's a nice dirt trail that winds threw mountains and pass by a ghost town.
Aaannndddd added a “do not go” pin on that trail in Gaia 😂

You in my neck again! Jerome is 1 of our favorite places to go in AZ. All the way up those stairs you took, and to the left, is our secret pub that we always stop by for a cold beer. Great places to visit
Beautiful country. We used to winter in Yuma and Apache Junction. Love exploring the desert and the Superstition Mountains. Never did it in an overlander but now at the young age of 60, we have been bitten by the Overlanding bug. Time to leave the motorhome at home and get our 4Runner & Jeep out there
Love that you get a new Frenchie! Never have too many puppies
Welcome to AZ! I lived in Prescott area for nearly a decade and used to drive over Mingus Mt all the time. Now i'm down in the valley and can't wait to go back to driving around up north again
AZ is the birthplace of extreme rock crawling, the rock buggy etc. Table Mesa, Florence Junction, and many more! Most of the rim country crawl trails are hush hush. Payete wash by Payson is an exception.

Wood chute trail is right out of Jerome
I've hiked the Mogollon Rim but this looked fantastic. Wow.
We were on west 300 yesterday and then ended up in jerome taking 72/73 to Perkinsville. Saw that offshoot and was like, 'that looks cray cray!
Love Jerome!
My son, our dog, and I are heading to Sedona area on 7/6, thanks for the great content.
Spectacular drive along the rim = 300 (Rim Road WEST) the entire length. Add in a couple of the spur trails (Hi View Pt, Myrtle Point, and Promontory) makes for an awesome venture with views of Mogollon that are epic.
That’s one of my favorite spots I bring all the non overland buddy’s !
I have to say your videos keep getting better and better. Job well done. 👍

Thank you very much!
Wow what a great place!! Love the views…
Another great one! Looking forward to the next adventure!
Have you ever overland wyoming or Montana? That would be a great trip and video. I plan on overlanding the Bighorn Mountains in wyoming next August. I'll film it too and post it.
Wow that was a tough break with the trail, glad you were not towing at the time. The town looks so cool
Hi Matt! LOL! Welcome to the "Arizona Shortcut"... Looks good on paper... Twice in one video... Although the second time it was just a slow, rocky trail and didnt involve turning around... I was Born, raised and living in Arizona for my whole life to this point, except for the 6 years I was in the Navy. I Just can't leave it, so here I am at 60 still out exploring and adventuring in this State... With some neighboring states sprinkled in, mostly Utah... Been doing it solo most of my life, with the occasional trip with family or friends. Most of my family and friends aren't "Into it" like I am... I don't know if you'll get this, but sometimes having other people around seems to interfere or distract from my connection to nature? Even so, sometimes it's nice to share the experience. Sad you and Cara had to go on separate adventures. Especially after the wonderful times you've been having together. All part of life, i guess. Anyway, great video, hope to see more from you on this State, you seem to like it too! Take care. Bill

Thanks!!!
Jerome is such a cool place. I've been there many times.
You might like Back Way to Crown King or Smasher Canyon for some crawlin'
Most of us locals stay out of the junipers and stick to the pines when we visit the rim for the very reason you've discovered about the road conditions and temperature 😂
Love that area. We would go down from Vegas at least a couple times a year. You should check out NV too. From the down river area of Hoover Dam, to the Spring mountain range and up all I’ve the state there’s all kinds of great trails and ghost towns.
I just got back from having lunch at the haunted hamburger then turned on your video. That’s too funny.

Hey guys. Love your videos always. What seat and tether do you use for Goose. Our Frenchie Winchester LOVES to ride but looking for a better seat for him. You can see him on KZread at Winchester the French Bulldog... Thank you. God bless.
OmG how you doing. Matt explain us how you fly the drone while you driving and get those Amazing shots?

She's right!! You can never have too many Frenchie's. I have about 18 of them. Let me know when you want another one =) haha
Hey Matt what is the knife and roll bar holder you have on your driver side
What brand dog seats are those - i love the height and size for my similar sized dogs. Thanks!!
What is the midland handheld radio on the left side of the dash ?
You planning any trips in the new Gladiator with the Canopy camper?
@OzarkOverlandAdventures
Ай бұрын
On a 5 week trip with it now.
Trade Land Rover for 4Runner!!!!
Going up there next week! Hoping the spot I want to camp at isn't taken when I get up there. Then going to do the whole Rim Road heading east to Highway 260, then will circle back through Payson and do a stop at Mt Ord on the way home.
The 300 road is one of my favorites. Go up to Happy Jack sometime.
와우^^ 멋지다
What a coincidence I was on the Rim Road West on my dirt bike and Jeep today. The temperature was 30 degrees cooler than Phoenix where I live
I have a similar Gladiator rig, what are you weighing?

Blm and state land management do not have enough people to maintain all trails, and we don't want them to maintain every trail.
I know this is way off the subject of where you guys are at but I got a question when you have some time
