@@MrDot-hw5wb You can have good numbers and still slack when you don't have to. Anyone can pretty much accumulate those stats in a 42 min game and not have to even try much. Steals sometimes happens when you don't even try. He isn't out trying to steal the ball like John Stockton.

Honestly, i believe this is an emotional rollercoaster season for the Warriors and it translates on how the team and especially Steph have been playing. They are at the top of the league once again after a very tough stretch of seasons (on the midst of their all-time dinasty). You can tell they play impatiently at times, turning the ball over too much and rushing up some shots. Add to that Steph breaking the 3pt record and Klay finally coming back, when impatience has been at a season-high level. They also play incredibly consistent and excellent defense so it evens out most times. Despite of it all their overall talent and championship pedigree are good enough for them to be title contenders (or even favorites). They’ve said it time and time again this year is championship or bust for them. I expect the team’s offensive consistency to step up sooner than later. That’s the priority, whether it comes during the next 10 games or the last 10 games of the regular season. I would love to see Steph win the MVP again, but I’d rather watch him win his first Finals MVP and 4th ring.

It’s called Recency Bias, and unless you want MVP voting to occur before the season has even been played, there’s literally nothing you can do about it. People will always remember more strongly things which happened more recently

Curry has still been inefficient and chokes under pressure His latest game he scored 0 points over time and was 6-16 from 3 scoring 39, that is a inefficient game and choked when the Warriors needed a win Literally Westbrick got a higher FG% then Curry does this season😂

It wasn’t just those 6 games, he’s been struggling since he broke the 3pt record. Also multiple of the last six games were blowouts, so he didn’t get his 35 minutes.

I think it’s a culmination of factors. Fatigue, pressure, lack of rhythm… Steph‘s game is dependent on him staying cool and in the flow, and it’s a delicate balance that’s easy to break. When he’s in it, it’s magic and unlike anything else in the game. But when it’s broken tbh he absolutely becomes mortal and I’d even say relatively pedestrian. He’s also aging. I suspect curry can and will win at least 1 more ring (maybe 2), but he has already had a full career and whether we like it or not, the GSW core is older now. Only time will tell if he can really bounce back

One thing that gets left unsaid is his efficiency overall hasn’t been the best this season even before he got close to breaking the 3pt record; this is the first season where his EFG from 3 has been hovering at just around 40% for most of the season (even leading up to that ominous stretch just before he broke the record). My hunch is he just has too much on his shoulders. Curry is an insane player but frankly his size is and has always been an issue. He isn’t very durable and while he’s improved and doesn’t seem as injury prone as before… he’s still just a 6’3 guard, and he gets guarded more brutally than even bigs do with teams triple teaming him on the regular. I think it just wears him out and he constantly has to be on knife’s edge to keep scoring at all bc teams are so terrified of letting him get into flow bc once he does it’s over

He pulled off this crazy triple double against Joel Embiid and the Clippers , whos is also in the MVP race . Its really not MVP numbers tho. MVP numbers is being a top ten player in the league on a team that ends the season at least 54 - 28 or better. The MVP goes to the best player on one of the best teams. Anything less, is a narrative driven exception like Westbrook's triple double MVP. Jokic is the 6th seed rn, that's not happening. In reality its going to go to someone from the best teams recordwise, meaning either Steph, CP3, KD or Giannis.

@Requiem he swept the Shaq and Penny team with Grant “gReAT sUPpoRtiNg CaSt” old team mate. Pippen was leading his team to sub .500 in 95. They only made the playoffs when Jordan returned. That “team” wasn’t going to win any championship (eastern or finals) without Jordan.

@Requiem Phil Jackson was a bum before. Lot of the reason we even hold Phil Jackson in high regard, was he won those championships with MJ. Scottie was also a bum before MJ forced him to become an all-star. And Scottie “almost lead them to the finals” is garbage water.

That was not Jordan at his absolute worst. If you want to see Jordan's absolute worst, he was terrible in both of his Wizards years when he was only 1 year older than LeBron is now. For context, Jordan averaged 23 points on 22 field goal attempts on 47% True Shooting on his first Wizards year. That's worse than Westbrook this year, who is averaging 19 on 17 shots on 50% True Shooting.

Curry's slump is not over, this is a psychological issue. The record was just an excuse, but this dude is dealing with stuff off the court that he needs time to resolve. The 'perfect family' just got broken and it's extremely messy. Somebody else needs to take the reigns this season imo, Curry is at his best when he is playing without thought and with joy, this looks like the opposite, and it's not even just about what the %'s say, you can see it in his movement on the court.

Amazing but he did choke and gag in 1989 ECF up 2-1 with 2 games at Chicago coming up and he was outplayed by Isiah, turned it over a lot, was inefficient, shot bad from FT line and averaged only 24 ppg. In those 3 games after being up 2-1 going back home to Chicago MJ was outplayed by Isiah Thomas and averaged 10-11 less ppg, was 67% from FT line including 5-12 in game 6 close out, inefficient overall and a lot of TOs. Those 3 games averages 24 ppg (10 or so ppg under what he scored at that time) 8.6 apg (2 above avg) 3.7 rbg (2-4 below avg) 1.7 spg (1-1.3 under what he averaged) 0.7 bpg (30% less then what he averaged back then 4.3 TO pg (1-1.5 more then he normally does and that included 6 TO pg games 5 and 6 when series tied 2-2 and 8 in game 6 where he also went 5-12 from FT line that game) 44.8% shooting (shot 50.5 % for career on bulls and 51-52% a lot of his god tier prime of 87-93. Game 4 in Chicago with Bulls a chance to go up 3-1 and favored in Vegas slightly he went 5-15, 33% from field and 12-17, 70.5% FTs in a close 6 point loss where everyone else in bulls starting lineup shot 53% and played well with Pippen and Grant both double doubles with 30, 23, 7, 3 steals and 4 blocks combined on 50% shooting! Craig Hodges put up 16, 5, 4...MJ had 23, 4, 2 on 33% shooting, 70.5 zero blocks one steal. If he has close to normal Game they win instead lose 86-80) 67.5% FTs (27/40, keep in mind they lost all 3 games in a row by 6-9 points including 12/17 in game 4 and horrid 5/12 in game 6) Isiah Thomas those last 3 games 26 ppg (more then MJ!) 7.4 apg 6 rpg (more then MJ) 2.7 spg (1 more then MJ per game and 6 TO final 2 games vs MJ’s 12) 2.7 TO pg (1.5 less then MJ and 44.8% (= to MJ) 18/21 FTs (85.7% including 9/10 game 6 compared to MJ’s 5/12 and 8/10 game 4 vs MJ’s 12-17). www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/mj-1989-eastern-conference-finals-game-log www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/isiah-thomas-1989-eastern-conference-finals-game-log LeBron 2011 finals worse overall and Dirk clearly outplayed him and LeBron (just like Isiah outplayed MJ games 4-6) was too passive and not confident enough in his jumper yet and because it wasn’t in Finals but ECF and in late 80s instead of 90s it’s like ppl just sweep it under the rug, but MJ def choked!

Personally I really want Steph to win another MVP and Championship cause since KD joined the Warriors Steph has been seen as one of the MVPs to benefit from the "Best Player on the best team" narrative and that he can only win a ring with 20 All NBA players on his team.
