Career-wise, LeBron will always make sense. But as far as the eye test goes, it's definitely Kawhi. Jimmy and DeMar have similar traits to their game and especially DeMar since joining the Bulls. But MJ's absolute dominance on both ends of the court is and will always be mind boggling.

@@MalibuHornedFrog eh defense 'back then' is overrated as fuck, hopefully the availability of more game footage from the 80's/90's will make people realise defense back then wasn't good fucking defense at all and that basketball is entirely different now compared to then.

Jimmy was the top one who came to mind when it came to just the eye test, clutch plays, leading and motivating a team and overall skill level. He is my pick. But I do understand why Kawhi came in 1st.

Same. Even more in 2023. The playing style and the attitude are the biggest factors imho. Also have to agree with Jxmi that DeMar DeRozan, in terms of his size, footwork, style, and skillset, reminds me of Jordan the most - especially now seeing him on the court in a Bulls uniform.

@@88lob I don't think he has the killer instinct either. He definitely has the work ethic, but it doesn't feel like he takes other teams winning as a personal insult. As a contrast, Kobe learned that playing angry was a valuable tool. MJ also knew that, and whether by choice or fault, MJ got insulted easily while taking it out on his opponents at the hoop. Kobe and MJ took it as an insult if someone thought they could be win. I don't get that sense from Leonard.

Still think he has killer instinct, not as MJ or Kobe but he has similar level of clutchness (last year playoffs and SA vs GSW before he got hurt).

Jxmy you should do a video ranking the best NBA players today in tiers using the pyramid system like you did before. ESPN is ranking them now but they're doing it 1 by 1 which doesn't make sense because you could make so many arguments who's better than who. So I guess the pyramid would be top 30 players today and use the same formula you used before which is a fair way to rank athletes.

Jacob Taylor Honestly I think Kobe would’ve actually placed higher than Kawhi. He would rank quite similarly in the areas Kawhi scored well in, adding on categories like accolades and demeanor, he’d probably get a higher score than Kawhi, in terms of similarity to Jordan

Although obviously it would be way too much work, I'd really loved to have seen the same formula applied to retired players, in particular Kobe and Wade - even Iverson. Obviously Kobe patterned his game after MJ, and there are some differences to be sure, but I don't know if any current players (especially forwards) compare quite as well as some of those who have gone before.

I mean Kobe basically copied Jordan’s moves and Jordan even said himself that if one player could beat him it’d be “Kobe Bryant only because he stole all of my moves”. But Kobe retired and also he had similar moves on offense but he was also an active 3 pt shooter and Jordan wasn’t really. But in today’s era, when looking at play style and stuff THAT WAS MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO SO WATCH IT, Kawhi is very similar to Jordan.

Players who play like Jordan would be physical SGs like Jimmy Butler or Victor Oladipo. They play the same way he did, they're just not as good. Kawhi doesn't play like MJ, his game is soft and even his personality is soft.
