THIN SHADE STEP-BY-STEP RV DOOR WINDOW INSTALL // 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2500RL

Stan and Rhonda from Over The Hill Adventures decide to upgrade their door windows on their 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2500RL. They go from their opaque glass door windows to Thin (Slim) Shade Windows by AP Products . Stan does the complete install and shows their viewers step-by-step instructions on how to remove the Lippert screwless frame door windows and replace them with the Thin Shade Windows. Stan has a couple of tricks up his sleeve to make the install a little easier. Stan also explains in his opinion why its safer to have door windows you can see through rather than the opaque glass door windows you can't see through. Join them on another Over The Hill Adventures helpful hint video.

QQ I agree on the security aspect of this and have installed one. Only thing is, if the shade is down, you cannot lift it to see who is knocking without opening the door first. The screen prevents you from doing that. Have to open the door to open or close the shade. Appreciate the video

Hi George, you are right. What some folks do is install the shade upside down. You can pull it down from the top and leave it cracked so you can see. What we do is leave it cracked at the bottom. When it’s dark inside people outside can’t see you. Just food for thought. Stan and Rhonda🙏🏼❤️

We aren’t sure if that window would work either, but here is some food for thought. A funny thing we realized AFTER we installed the new windows, you can’t get to the shade through the screen door. Seems like a no brained, but we didn’t realize the functionality of it until it was in. To get to it, you have to open the door, get in between the screen and the door to open or close the shade. So, with that said, the question is, do you think you would you use the vented/screened window when you have the door closed? Hope that makes sense. Let us know 😀

How are you going to open the shade to see who is outside without opening the door? Cut a hole in your screen??

No sir! I leave it cracked at the bottom. Some folks install the shad upside down and leave it cracked at the top.

How do you close or open the shade with the door shut? Won’t the screen door get in the way?

Hi James, unfortunately you can’t. During the day you leave them open. You can’t see in. At night when the lights are off I would leave a half inch crack at the bottom. This will allow you to see outside when you turn on your outside light. This was a great question that I think many will ask. Thank you so much!! However, we feel this is the best solution for us over the opaque windows. Thank you for watching!! Stan and Rhonda
