Thanks for another great review Lachlan. I'm a little bit late in viewing this but it sounds like Thieaudio have improved on the Oracle original iem tuning with the Prestige tuning. The ie900 is also on my wishlist so choices, choices....lets see.

I heard all 3 IEMs. Diva, Gaia, Prestige. Tbh, I can only recall Prestige as something noteworthy and not the other two. If you're looking at Elysian then Annihilator was noteworthy too (if it's within your budget). Btw, noteworthy IEMs have me going *hmm. interesting*. Prestige does sound pretty good and it was also to me more interesting than Monarch Mk2s. Though one issue really was the upper mids/treble area where it can get occasionally hot on some brighter songs. TLDR, I would suggest prestige over the other two. lol

The one thing I would love to see review is the schiit ragnarok 2 Would love to hear your thoughts on this headphone amplification Quality

I might be able to swing that in the future (Schiit-willing) because I have a nearfield speaker setup so I can look at both the headphone and speaker performance. We'll see...

I just discovered your site. I found the answers to exactly the questions I was looking for. I've never seen anyone else present as clearly as you. Thanks a lot. I have a question in my mind, I would be very happy if you answer it. I found 3 headphones for the price of ie900 = 1000 dollars, beyerdynamic xelento 2 = 715 dollars, thieaudio prestige = 570 dollars. Which one do you think I should buy? I know you love all three. Prestige is winking at me. I generally listen to new age, classical music, groove and rock. I don't listen to hip hop.

That's a tough one! All three options are strong. I own all three and it's the IE900 that I reach for most often (until the Westone Mach 70 came along). I have somewhat similar tastes to you and I find the IE900 is the best across the board, but we do all hear slightly differently. What do you have now and what do you want your next IEM to do the same and to do better? (P.S. glad you like the channel!)

Very good review! I want to ask, does Prestige have a BA timbre on most IEMs? At $1300 it should have a good timbre approaching a good DD! Thanks in advance.

I think BA timbre is overstated. BAs have a reputation because they often have decay that's faster than a dynamic, but this isn't always the case. I think that's become more true in recent times as BA tech has improved. As for the Prestige, I don't think it has a BA timbre at all and also manages the electrostatic sound/timbre very well too.

You should review the Thieaudio v16. The 16 BA tuning makes it have better bass than even my HPs (in some songs obviously) than my Susvara, LCD5, Meze Empyrean. Unfortunately the Divinity v16 is too big for my ears. But i still use it on and off for the amazing bass slam and non offensive tonality in the treble region.

It certainly is a nice looking iem... although for 1.3k I think it's getting a bit pricey for what it offers. I tried the symphonium meteor and IE600 and right in that 500 - 700 usd price point range really is the sweet spot for iems.

It's definitely up there, but it's also delivering a step above something like the IE600. That said, it's all going to come down to priorities, what source you're using and the maximum performance it can deliver, etc. No doubt, the $500-700 segment is insane value for money at the moment.

Will you gonna review Softears Studio4?

We don't have the same levels of communities as in the USA (and maybe other locations), but there are a few good stores. Minidisc.com.au is a great option. They're in Chatswood (not just online) and are a great team!

Nice review! The Monarch Mk2 still seem to keep the top spot in Theaudio lineup. The Prestige sounds less natural due to the too emphasize trebles and less textured and detailed midrange. But for those who like "western" type of tuning like ie600, ie900, Mest Mk2, the Prestige seems to make sense.

@@PassionforSound Well to my ears, the Prestige has too boosted trebles but im sensitive in this area. I also preferred the Monarchs trebles to the u12t which were too sharp and thin on the u12t. Depends on ears it seems.

Yes, all of our ears will have different frequencies of resonance and sensitivity so it's important to get a handle on your sensitivities (which you have) and then understand how they align to different reviewers' tastes

@@PassionforSound Sorry but dont care what sensitivities every reviewer has as its impossible for me to hear the music with different ears. Besides im not the only one who ranked the Prestige lower than the Monarch Mk2. So it seems that many other people/reviewers seem to hear similar things as i do. Im happy for you that you enjoy the Prestige but remember that it doesnt make them better than other iems. We are dealing with only your perception in this particular review.

I hope I didn't come across as criticising - that wasn't my intention. Where I was going with that was to point out that your hearing sensitivity is different to mine it seems and therefore, you can now know that earphones that I describe like the Monarch will likely be more to your liking than they are to my liking. The reviewers that are hearing them like you will probably be more consistently aligned with your perceptions because you probably have similar ear resonance, etc. There's no rights or wrongs here and I wasn't criticising anyone or defending my perceptions. Sorry if it can across that way.

Lachlan, if you're listening to big orchestral pieces like Beethoven or Mahler, which one you'll go for?

That's a tough call. I'm a sucker for the IE900 for almost everything because I love its bass extension and coherency. I think either is great though so it's hard to recommend one over the other.

That's tough! I don't have the U12t anymore, but it's probably in order of price: U12t, Prestige, IE600, but it's close.

Sounds like HD800 or Arya, with less spatial depth. I *HATE* mid-bass cuts... Mid-bass > sub-bass any day. Your mic is quite... sharp and overly crisp in this vid :s Between these 2, I would probably choose the one with LESS EAR PRESSURE FATIGUE, where you can dig into the volume more. That is exactly the problem I had with Penon FAN 2; too much ear pressure fatigue. Seems like Prestige would be nice for FPS gaming. I've never felt that using MUSIC to test soundstage, depth, layering, etc is the best medium, and that live 3D environments should be used instead(games, 3D audio test software, films, etc). You never know how edited and touched up music tracks can be, but live environments don't lie, and can be interacted with and tested much further from any given angle/position. It appears you don't have a Top 5 IEMs video near or after when this video was made..? KSE1200 is your #1? Then IE900?

Yes, KSE1200 is #1, IE900 #2, not sure after that, but the newly reviewed Soundz Avant would probably become a new #2 if I owned it. The new Prestige LTD is also sounding great on first impressions.
