Thich Nhat Hanh: “The Earth is in you”
This clip is from the online course Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet. Find out more and join the upcoming course cohort: plumvillage.org/zasp
Thich Nhat Hanh teaches us to view Mother Earth with love, admiration, and respect - to see her as not as something separate from us but as a part of ourselves. In today’s world, we can often become alienated and feel disconnected, but if we can touch on the wonder of Mother Earth within us, healing can begin - for us and the planet.
The online course offers a 7-week in-depth online learning journey to nurture insight, compassion, community, and mindful action in service of the Earth.
It features many newly curated talks from Thich Nhat Hanh, plus unique talks and practices from many teachers across the Plum Village community. It is an opportunity to connect with a global community, through live events, sharing groups, and a bespoke interactive platform.

@@GardenYourHeart98 Yet the soul cries out for more - It yearns for its ultimate rest and for love. To be found and to be complete. This pantheistic, naturalistic, physicalism leaves to utter despair and misery. It is sorely deficient and incomplete. The tangibility of physicalism is immensely insufficent, and its existentialism inadequate. The cosmological properties points to a singularity of being created. Entropy is indicative of real destructive force and the earth is also subject to this reality. The earth is vulnerable as any planetary object within the universe and is subjugated to its laws. So you’re left with two objective reality, two absolutes; both equally terrifying - An eternal self-perpetuating universe void of a “designer,” or an eternal personal being… One offers hope, the other, utter despair...

@@cmnhl1329 the true nature of anything is impermanence, non self, and interconnectedness. There is no self. Find your true self in the stillness of water, the freshness of flowers, the stability of mountains, and the freedom of space

@@GardenYourHeart98Exactly my point… that philosophy is limited and confined to the physicality of the earth… it is sorely lacking in its transcendental aspects…

I am a devoted Buddhist. However, I believe that Christian God is a bodhisattva, and I believe he represents love.

You will enjoy and learn from a new documentary called Christspiracy.
I am sorry, this saddens me and makes me uncomfortable because I thought just practicing with a sangha and listening to the dharma talks and just doing the best I can was enough...It brothers me to have to pay for a course. I understand that there is a need to fundraise, I was hoping to find a safe place to just be without the need to take courses or made to feel less than. I do not know what to to do, I am questioning this path.

Please know that there are hundreds of full scholarships available. The course invites contributions to help cover the costs of building and running the course, and to support the monastery that is offering all these teachings for free (KZread, the Plum Village app etc). The course took 9 months to create and involved over 25 people and thousands of hours. It is designed to help people go deeper over a longer period, in particular those who cannot (and for whatever reason - health, geography, commitments etc can never) visit a practice center in our tradition🙏
Buddha's final words were: "Behold now, bhikkhus, I exhort you: All compounded things are subject to vanish. Strive with earnestness!". Do you really want to take refuge in Mother Earth?
