    Great video that I've watched several times because you go into depth describing the undercarriage components and what to watch for. Another key component to inspect underneath are the body mounts. You'll know when your truck sounds like the exhaust piping underneath has broken hangers when in fact the stock polyurethane body mounts have deteriorated completely to the point where it's metal-on-metal.

    Good ways I found to prevent rust when you change your oil take it and spray it everywhere under the truck take the taillights out and get it in there when it's saturated take it down a dirt road all my trucks are really good because I do that and I drive them in the winter

    I bought my '06 E-350 four years ago with just 124k. I don't put that many miles on per year so it only has 152k now. When I got it there was not a speck of rust on it. It came from southern New York but now lives in salt county. I was too busy last year to do much to the body but it's not really that bad at all. When I went to look at the van I took my Ford mechanic with me. He asked all the right questions and told me I'd be crazy not to get it. He would buy it if I didn't. He does all the work and maintenance. This thing, as you say, is noisy, especially in the winter on cold mornings. I usually start it about 15 minutes early and then it runs fine. If I don't start it early enough it has trouble shifting out of first gear. Thankfully I live on an old back road with no traffic so I'm not holding anyone up. It had poor tires and brakes when I bought it so they were the first things to get replaced followed by two 850 batteries. Oil is changed every 5k with Rotella T4. All filters are OEM. What it really needs is a louder radio. Sitting next to the dog coop drowns it out.

I had all fluids replaced for the second time and a complete front end rebuild as it wandered last year. The reason I liked this video is that it gives me confidence in this engine after hearing all the bad talk about it. I have had it tuned with a Super Switch at full power almost since new. I do not beat the truck, but when I need power, I have it. Thanks again. Great job on this video.

    Another thing to look for is if it has an aftermarket oil filter on it because the aftermarket oil filters come with their own cap which are taller than factory oil filter cap which caused the filter not to be seated all the way in the bottom of the filter housing and they don't filter the oil correctly and bypass the oil cooler I noticed you have enough to market oil cap on that truck you have on the video

    Another thing about the degas bottle. On mine it’s very temperamental. I’ve been on psd and all data and looked at fluid capacity and have done EXACTLY what they will say for coolant and every time. After ONE drive it falls a tiny bit below the min line. Temps are good. Heads are good. Everything is fine. It just always falls low. Take that as you will

    Thank you for doing this video. Go to your local Council meetings. So if the DOT is USING SALT BRINE instead of bulk SALT mixed with sand in PLOW dumps. It's so important on the RUST issues in my Humble opinion. The SALT BRINE you can easily wash off your undercarriage. Bulk SALT your wheels fling it into the trucks undercarriage. It starts to work real hard on RUSTING out your truck.

    my batteries rest at 15.1 v with the mechman 320amp high output alt. in my lly duramax. that's with 4000+ watts rms of sound system on blast too.

  • @georgesrisomsak9650

    @georgesrisomsak9650

    You're batteries don't rest at 15.1 if they are lead acid. Maybe lto batteries, or other lithium batteries. If they are lead acid, your cooking the plates and boiling the acid. Not good for longevity. Max voltage should be 14.8, pending temperature. I have over 10k watts in my Tc. Digital Designs subs, sundown amps, 370a DC power alternator. Does 50+ at 28hz.

    @George Srisomsak it's technically not resting it's only for the 1st 10 minutes or so when I start up but it rests... uhg, rested(totalled the truck) at 14.7-15 almost always. I also had not 1, not 2 but 3 Agm batteries not lead acid as well as the big 3/big 4 done with 1/0 ofc xs power wire with the mechman elite 370 alternator. So, yup... that's what my voltage is/was like in the ol modified LlY duramax. Luckily the engine and all my goodies didn't get destroyed. So now I need a new(old) truck to swap all my good into. Wrecked my damn dream truck. Well, we can always dream bigger lol but I was definitely satisfied with what I had. Thing was a hellcat killer too. Smoking the doors off everything that rolls up trying to pull on me in that thing. That's what I get for fucking around too much. I fucked around and found out. • @dirtydieselcustom

    @dirtydieselcustom

    That seems like a pretty good deal for a low-mileage truck! It's always hard to say for sure but once you get it change the fuel filter and do an oil change just to ensure they're good, maybe run some Hot Shot fuel additive to the tank because it'll sit for quite a bit. Don't overheat it and it should be a good unit!

    I have a question. Where can I get the READER for my 5 G phone. I have a 2000 F-250 two wheel drive. I have always service my Truck per Factory recommended times. I HATE the FORD gages(GM) gages actually tell you something My 5.7 Lt. on my boat I pull with my Ford, it is a GM 350 block. It's gages tell me everything when thermostat OPENs. ( My temperature gage moves back on Gage on warm up of boat) Real PSI for oil. The gages on my boat are super acute. I want one of those readers for my 5 G phone. Really nice and cool what you showed. Thank you if you can point me in directions to buying the add on for phone to plug into my truck reader. Or if anyone reading my comment can help. I really like reading actual true numbers on truck OIL, Cooling, ect, please can someone help me. Your video is so great. I'm not selling my Ford truck (60 thousand miles) on her it was ordered from factory in 1999, so I have put all miles on her, and like I said before always service. The problem I would have if selling the FORD computer system at Dealer lost it's memory. So I have Rec. From services. But FORD would NOT stamp my service dates book you get with trucks NEW. They seem to want to QUIT doing that after the truck has years on them. It's pretty low for FORD to do that. You can't force them to stamp your service manual. I want a new buyer to see the service in the Ford service manual did not trade in my 1979 Ford. I sold it with signs on windows. Got a lot more money for her, than on trade in by Ford. It had just reached 100 thousand miles. All my miles on her, and my service from new on the 79. I hate the trade in crap the Dealers, give you the run around. But I guess you have to look at what are they going to make, on resale. On are car vehicle what is funny KIA gave us a PRICE on trade in on service booklet on last service by Dealer. The Dealer really now with shortage in lots. The car lots by my home look like they are going out of business. NO new vehicle. They want are used KIA so bad. All are services are FREE for Life of vehicle. That's why we got a KIA car. Top of the line SPORTAGE. My wife misses her Ford FLEX it was a nice great smooth ride. It just started to have Leaks on engine. The electric FAN went out. Ford doesn't have the warranty Life coverage that KIA does. Plus the Dealers service dropped off after warranty went out on FLEX, they want you in a NEW car. Anyway have TALKED long enough. I want one of those code or Gage readers so bad for my Ford Truck. Please anyone can you help me. Point me in right direction. Thank you again for your great what to look for in trucks. I will use it even though I'm not selling my truck. It's great information when out just looking at trucks. Listened to them run. Understand what to look for, very informative.

    Owner of a 6.0 here, there’s no way of finding the best 6.0 they’re a hit or miss, don’t be surprised if you need to do high pressure oil maintenance, and if something doesn’t sound right don’t be surprised if it goes away through periods of time, these trucks are very finicky, but at the same time very great. Wish these trucks were dialed to exactly knowing what’s going, but no one will know exactly what’s going on. Overall these trucks are fantastic just know what your buying if something goes wrong don’t give up on it, it’s why these trucks run today with ridiculous miles. Do not buy the tuner first. That is terrible advice. They will be married to the truck you install it on and you only have 4 times you can marry it. And each custom tune is for the specific truck you’re buying it for. Once the 4 times are up the tuner is useless unless you send it back to the manufacturer for unlock which runs $150+. If you’re gonna buy the truck learn what to look for or ask the seller if they’re ok with a qualified professional inspecting it for you.

    The SCT tuner can be run in a data log mode with all the information displayed on the video while unpaired to the truck. The SCT only marries to the vin number once it writes a tune. Up until then, they are useful diagnostic tools.

    Dont listen to this guy period.... Hear me out. THIS IS A TRUCK, not a race car... treat it as such and you will never have any issues or very minimal. If you tune it and drive it like a mustang then it will break!.... I have 182k miles on my 2006 F350 dually ZERO issues. I drive it normal and tow a 4000pound boat flawlessly .

    Hey, thanks for the feedback and it sounds like you've got a sweet truck! I'm not sure where our paths got crossed, we just wanted to show common problem areas on these trucks regardless of what you use them for, and when searching for a used vehicle you never know how the previous owner drove it so it is worth checking out the known problem areas. Either way, toy or work truck they can be great trucks! Cheers

    Screw that these are to much fun to not drive like a race car, if it breaks I'll just fix it.

    @@PorscheVlogs well most of us cant really afford a porsche for that obviously it isnt a race car its a work truck but if you have a high HP diesel work truck so might as well use the power right?

    The 6.0 and 6.4 is the worst engines that Ford ever came out with…you buy a truck that only works a quarter of the time then you spend 4-7 grand to “bulletproof” then you get a truck that works only haft of the time..I love fords but I’m ok to admit that the 6.0/6.4 is better for the scrapyard 👍🏾👍🏾
