They Smelled Our Fear!
We were asked to come to our local elementary school for pioneer days. We had a ton of fun but speaking to adults does NOT prepare you for 300 kids. They could smell our fear!

I wasn't raised with the homesteading minded people. I was 57 years old when I learned to can. I finally got the opportunity to have enough land to begin farm to table. I have watched many of your videos. Bought Jens cookbook. Living the healthier life.

I am 66 and working on eating healthier. My dream is to start a homestead community, all on the acreage I will acquire, hopefully within the next 12 to 18 months. I have watched hundreds (probably thousands) of hours of homesteading YT videos. My biggest desire is for my daughter, son-in-love, & 3 grandsons (15, 13, & 8) to eventually join me in this new adventure. I desire this for all of humanity as well...to live life more sustainably, grow our own food & give to those in need. This will be my legacy. Thank you for all that you share & for planting the seed into the impressionable minds of the children. Love you all ❤️

I learned to can in 4-H but really didn't get into it until my kids were teens and the need arose. Didn't live the lifestyle per se but did a lot of the "things" when my friends thought I was crazy. 😊 fast forward, at 60 I had the opportunity to buy my 10 acres of peace. Now, I'm working on the details and getting more sustainable. My Son and almost adult grandchildren are a huge help and slowly understanding the "why". It is NEVER too late.
Something that all children need to be taught. Had a guy that works in a local farm supply store tell me that the teenager that was helping him didn't know that potatoes were grown in the ground. Now this is a kid from Scott co VA. Smack in the middle of farming country.
I ADORE YOU LITTLE ONES! YOU INSPIRE ME WHEN I AM FACED IN CROSSROADS!!! 💖💖🌞🌻🌞💖💖
You know there’s a reason why there’s this saying: “kids can be your harshest critics!” 😂 Well done, you did a fantastic job 👍🏼😃
That is the type of things that should be taught in schools. Outstanding!
Enjoy watching y'all. Proud of yall showing the young generation how to do alot of the things you do. Keep up the good job. God bless y'all. ❤
Looks like everyone had a great time and the kids learned ALOT! There should be more than a day or two to learn such important lessons.
That was cool. Our Children need to be influenced in a positive and wholesome way. God Bless you both.
I really just love you two! Keep spreading the word and inspiring interest!
Y'all are so cute together. Blessings, julie
I was raised in the 60s and 70s. Back in those days it was called living life. There was no such thing as homesteading and and all other titles. We love it. It's a way of life for us. And when my grand babies come by. They thrive for this way of life. I thank God every day for the way I was raised. Thanks you guys for doing what you love to do. 🎉
We give our kids coffee. It actually helps my teen fall asleep at night. It was awesome to see yall teach all those kids about living the simple life. Have fun at HOA!
So glad to see you guys having fun teaching the children! I appreciate your family!
All the kids seemed to be very interested in learning about homesteading. You both did a great job showing the kids a different way to cook, farm and growing your own vegetables. Hope you all have a wonderful time at the HOA.😍
So important to teach the next generation some of the pioneer ways. The way it’s going they may need it more then we think
I can't wait for HOA!!! My husband and I are coming from Maine to celebrate our 35th Anniversary!! We've never been before!!!

Looking forward to meeting you!
They will ask you back every year. When I worked up there (in Ky) as an aide, the ones who got asked back every year were the ones the teachers felt educated the children the best.
❤What a cool opportunity! I heard "do you kids go to school here?" That must have been interesting for them to hear they were homeschooled ❤ Have a great time at HOA. Y'all are so cute at the end😂 The place looks beautiful and inviting. love and prayers ❤❤🙏
How awesome the school did this and you got to share with the littles. :)
lol this is the time of year we take school breaks just to play 🍂🍂🍂🍁🍁🍁
I loved this video! It’s such an honor to be able to speak into the lives of children! Great job!!!
To cute. I miss your LIVES. I'm still searching for the episode where everyone, including us, was laughing so hard it was hard to catch our breaths. Those raw emotions are so uplifting to our souls.
I love that you went to the school! Sounds like so much fun, for you and the kids!
So much fun! I got to go to my grandsons school and show them how to make butter.
You two are naturals. The children enjoyed it. You could tell they were really getting into it.
Looking forward to seeing you again at HOA!
That was so awesome of y'all taking time to do the demonstrations for all the children. We all need to take a lil more out to teach our future leaders what they truly need to know in life. How to be a homesteader anove anything else, other than the LORD...
Such a good lesson! There’s more than one way to skin a cat!
I love this. It reminds me of spending my summers out on the farm with my cousin and his parents when I was a kid. I couldn't believe the experiences that I have had because of this.
Yall are so precious and looked adorable in your pioneer outfits! I'm so bummed we aren't going to make it to HOA this year but NEXT YEAR! I will make it happen and hope to see yall there again!
God love y’all. I’m from Harlan and I started drinking drinking coffee, black with my Granny at 5 years old. I just love y’all and have you in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong my country peeps.
This is Awesome 👍❤️👍
Awesome!!
This is amazing! Well done guys!!
Glad y’all were able to share a little of your life with them!
Such a wonderful idea, have fun with the little ones, sounds like so much fun. We have a movement worldwide returning to the land and building communities. ❤ We lost two hens something got inside our coop yesterday, my first time dealing with it.
Wow this was just great
You guys did a phenomenal job! I would have loved to have heard the entire thing- I was learning some things myself- I have forgotten a lot of what I learned in school! 😂 & it's funny you mentioned the difference in how you speak to a kindergartener vs. a 5th grader, I had noticed that. 😊 I'm going to look into doing something like this at my sons school! I would love to do something like this!
this was awesome!
So happy for ya'll!
That is wonderful. So happy to teach others! I help my daughter teach foraging at her homeschool group.
Those kids are probably thinking, every meal cooked over a fire! That’s a lot of marshmallows and hotdogs! I love y’all are doing this! What a great job you guys did!

That was awesome! You guys did a really good job. I wish the traffic noise wasn’t there so we could hear you clearer but some things are out of our control.
Soooo, did your coffee ever get done??🤔🤣 I didn’t see any coffee pouring…☕️☕️☕️ We’ve done similar things with schools. Great job 👏
❤❤❤❤
I still use my old coffee pot. I have 2 sizes. I loved that you all were asked. That is such an honor. Lv and Prayers to all. Are you in Front Royal.
Our pioneer days are in a few weeks, I love being involved and to teach about fiber arts.

Well, my parents were told if children drank coffee it would stunt their growth. We sisters NEVER got coffee, however, I was 5'1" in sixth grade. Today I'm 75 yrs young and still 5'1". Go figure 😮 God bless!!!

Just an old fashioned pioneers grand raised up a HUGE TIP FOR LADIES no matter your canning foods are please please listen LADIES YOUR CYCLE TIME this is huge DO NOT CAN DURING YOUR FEMALE CYCLE TIME FRUITS MEATS ETC... WILL SPOIL AND IN SOME CASES INSTANTLY BECOME RANCID QUICK modern canning moms please rember of the youngen wanting to help that needs be watched too and to butcher your own animals please let the men do them as well at that time because ladies butchering can cause meat to go ramcod fast... just a tip... exsperianced from my growing up days...
