They Shrunk My Burger - How Much?
They Shrunk My Burger - How Much? The burgers here look like they have been shrunk, Much smaller than they used to be. So, it begs the question, America, New York are no longer famous for their burgers. #americanburgers #howmuch #newyork #newyorkcity

You are one of the few people on you tube that I can tell when you have enjoyed food, your face says it all. Enjoy your NY trip

Welcomeeeeeee to America
All I want to say, DJ, is have a great week!! You're on holiday and you've worked hard for it! Do (and eat) exactly what you want, mate! 👍👍🍔🍺
That apple pie looked amazing..Like what my granny used to make me as a kid!
NYC is now just a Disney theme park version of what it once was with prices to boot
I love these NYC videos, takes me back and the perfect opportunity to spoil yourself! - Can't get over the cost though (and the size of that burger) :)
New York you need 1000 dollars a day minimum spend for a couple Darren thats about what we spent on average , and as for people telling you that you should not do this or that stuff them mate you are on holiday you work all year and its your life, keep doing what makes you happy
Real shock that a place bang in the middle of a tourist trap is expensive

I love the sarcasm.
Looked tasty Darren but shrunken burger again. You enjoy yourself honey you put the work in. I love your vlogs very much..
Your on holiday eat & drink whatever takes your fancy !!! Quality vid as always..👍👌
Pure liberty. Hope you find a nice place with bigger portions.
This is why you should try and find local recommendations. Otherwise you get caught in tourist trap places like this that have fake reviews.
Thanks Darren. Looking forward to lots of great content
Fentemans lemonade is available in the UK pretty much everywhere.
Hi Darren ,the pizza slice places and jewish and italian delis also very good ,try to avoid the fish and chip places though 🕶enjoy your trip.
For a country renowned for gigantic food portions, that was a disappointing tiny meal. 😢
Looking forward to seeing youe nyc adventures. Thanks DJ❤
Looking forward to this Darren, have a great week buddy 🫡
Looked nice DJ, expensive yeah but nice 👍🏽 have a great holiday, and looking forward to more videos Mate
Loving the start of New York vlogs ❤❤
Happy travels mate, looking forward to the next one 👍
Great video. DJ's gone transatlantic! 🌎
That's not a burger, that's a slider!
Apart from the price, well done to you heading away to another part of the world and doing some vlogs. Enjoyed it and looking forward to the rest. Keep safe man
Evening Darren Glad you arrived safely.
In the States, all diners are the same (greasy spoons in the UK). Next time you go to the states, take sarnies and pot noodles.
In the US, the average wage in 2024 is 50% higher than in the UK. In 2008, the average UK wage was the same as the US. That and the exchage rate (which has been destroyed by Brexit) is why it seems so expensive to us over there.
Aside from that have a lovely time, thanks for sharing tc.
London is leagues ahead of New York as a food city.

I can’t agree more with your statement. The quality of food was so bad, my son and I actually were sick in NYC. Love the city though but not the food.
Enjoy your trip Darren spend what you want, you explained about saving up for something special and awesome a few months ago. You work hard ,yes you hold down a job as well as this you do this because you love it. Excellent work . Looking forward to you trying a New York strip steak and creamed spinach 😊😋😋😋😋
Dude you was rolled there! lol
the burger and fries looked good, apple pie isn't my cup of tea, but I'm sure they have other types and they look like they know how to bake a pie! ... regarding price, that meal would probably be nowhere near as expensive at most diners, however you are in Midtown Manhattan and high prices are just something you can't get around there (but you knew that before you came, I reckon). Also, stay away from those artisan lemonades if you're looking to keep the bill down haha!
NYC used to be so cheap, clobber, grub, now even more expensive than London, great post again mate, keep em coming 👏 👍
enjoy the knutts off ur trip darren..great content as per...i wouldnt fret, youll find places where the portions will be huge, believe u me lol.
Great video as normal Darren! I can recommend the ‘Washington Square Diner’ on 150 W 4th Street. Was there last September, proper diner food, not touristy 👍
Enjoy your holiday in NY Darren has been a good few years since my last visit for me has always been expensive Looking forward to more videos ❤
Cracking video but for 52 bucks that burger should have been thicker than a boxing day turd !
Excited to see the nyc vlogs
Jeez pretty steep for what you had to eat. But if you enjoy it that’s what counts Darren! Spoil yourself! 🥰☀️🥰xxx
Try Paris in August Dj. One good thing most of the Parisians have left for the coast but its too bloody hot
Late watching this The burger & apple pie did look good tbf … but $52 ! though it is New York I guess Enjoy your holiday there Looking forward to other food reviews xx👍👍
Loving this - love New York ❤️
Weren't Diners places that were just everyday food joints that supplied food for the working class? £45..........outrageous.
from dining in various parts if the states its only now that i see how more superior meat in ireland and the uk is of a much jigher standard, streets ahead these days
Yeh being New York I’d presume the burger would be bigger, as everything’s bigger in America, have a awesome time and can’t wait for more videos 😊😊❤❤❤
Just had two bacon burgers and two portions of fries plus one coke at five guys Kings cross, £42.....I can remember when I couldn't lift £42 worth of burgers
You know as well as I do that if you want a belly-busting burger without incurring an overdraft, you'd better get out of Manhattan, and probably all of NYC, come to that Darren.
Have a great break mate and enjoy !! Go Brooklyn or queens for value diners
I wouldn’t say £56 was expensive for what looked top quality in fantastic surroundings. Seen the price of McDonalds lately 🤣🤣 but as usual another great video Gary 👍👍👍👍
Perhaps a little research would be in order! New York has some great burger sites, for sure. There is a guy, Hamburger America is the diner, hyped but probably better than the one you had.
I’m always weary when in the states about tips etc always puts me off
Expensive but that apple pie looks delicious 😋
DJ - be sure to try the Halal Brothers food cart: rice, salad and chicken shawarma with the best sauces!!! It’s a must try when in NYC! Also want to find a good corned beef bagel place to compare to our very own Brick Lane beigels. Enjoy your trip. You are right - u r on holiday - normal miserable life can wait till u get back.
It makes London seem quite low cost 😀 that was too expensive New York or not, thanks for sharing your journey 👍
Crazy expensive! Papaya King just reopened at 206 E. 86th St and you can get 2 delicious grilled hot dogs and a papaya juice for $11.99.
Can highly recommend Black Iron Burgers, there’s two of them in NYC, best burgers we’ve ever had and the loaded fries were OTC!
Be safe, BJ.
America is one place that has never appealed to me, but i still enjoy your vlogs Darren. 🤗👍
DJ Lol always the same with me waiter always comes over when I've got a mouth full of food 😮😂😂
Mr DJ, this needed to be titled, Honey I Shrunk the Burger 😊
I was surprised to see that your lemonade was made by Fentimans - founded by Thomas Fentiman in Cleckheaton and still family owned. Maybe that was quite expensive ? Looking forward to these NYC vlogs. x
Thats a fierce price for a burger and chips with pie and ice cream but sod it - life is too short. Go and enjoy yourself DJ.
Hey up enjoy and safe travels
52 dollars, not a hope would i pay that lol u should google a few of the cheaper spots for grub
Go to what used to be the Parker Meridian Hotel (I think it has changed ownership). I stayed at that hotel for ~ month about 10 years ago doing a business deal - there is a "secret" burger restaurant behind a curtain in the lobby - or there was a few years ago. Hotel is on north side of 56th - next to Carnegie hall. Should be very close to where you are staying. Awesome burgers and used to be very cheap.
Not been to New York since 1978 so obviously prices have gone up lol. Lets remember it was never going to be cheap its one of the most expensive cities in the world but one of the greatest like London ❤.
Hi dj, Mrs sandwich and I got married in manhattan in 2014 (we’re from the uk). It was a great week; all our wedding photos were in front of the Brooklyn bridge. We’ve not been back since but I can’t wait to go again. Great city. Maybe we’ll get some tips from you on where to eat!
You'll have to go to Greenwich Village and visit The White Horse. Dylan Thomas used to hang out in there. Really interesting images on the walls, etc.
Good man Darren
I like your attitude, when in Rome! Im on that page ❤
Have a lovely holiday
I had a D.Q. Burger 🍔 and poutine while watching this Darren. I was shocked at the price. I guess, the tourist spots will always be less for more price, as we know but It looked lovely though. Looking forward to seeing more while I chill at my sons place here in equally hot Canada 🥵🥵☺️☺️
You are looking well mate! Have you lost weight? Hope you have a great time in New York, for me it was a dream destination and when I finally went I was really disappointed so got on a train and went to Boston instead where I had a much better time!
Good review. Food looked ok. Price wise, itnis what it is i suppose. Maybe try Old John's Diner whilst you are in NYC.

Old John's! I've been eating there since 1975 (including the original location on Broadway).
When I'm in New York, i tend to eat in Queens or Brooklyn as you can get better value for money, its pricey but its the equivalent of eating at a restaurant in Leicester Square so sounds about right
Nice one Daz .. . Have a great time and try and get a Chinese in if you can
Enjoy your holiday. Well deserved. Haters just jealous - ignore. Keep doing what you do best. xxx ❤❤❤
I was in Brooklyn last November. If you want a more budget food day, find a trader joes (think whole foods but a bit cheaper) and get a meal from the takeaway hot counter to have in your hotel. They do some lovely options even for a vegan like me lol

Good Evening DJ. I hope that you had a Good Nights sleep and Re-coup. I was very Impressed by the Brooklyn Diner. I really liked the American 1950's style Decor and eating booths around the Restaurant. I thought your Burger looked very Well cooked and with a Generous portion of Chips to go with your Burger. Your Apple Pie and Ice-Cream with that Lovely sweet sauce drizzle over, the Perfect Desert for You DJ, a Handsome Gentleman in New York. Glad you Enjoyed your meal DJ. Thank you for Sharing your video.
I've never been to the States but i'm buggered if i'd pay that much for a cheese burger, fries and piece of pie no matter how good it was.I too thought that in America portions were huge and prices were low.Apparently not
They don't do burgers but a really good place to go is Crepes on Columbus, please vlog there you won't be disappointed.... Also George Motz burgers you might like a burger there too but it gets really busy and a curry place down Bricklane (yes there is one in NYC) where they deliver your food by a robot.
Its New York city. Expect high prices like in London.
The Beatles played Carnegie hall. If you are in the subway at 57th street, on the tiles you can see all the people that played Carnegie Hall. BTW it's 7th Ave not street, 7th street is downtown in the village. The burger is typical of those types of places. Jackson Hole in Manhattan have great burgers. If you like smash burgers go to Burger America on Houston (HOUSE Ton) and MacDougal in the village, it is run by burger scholar George Motz (who also is the chef).
Yes DJ! Bring on the NYC vlogs. Can't wait to see you graze your way through this awesome place!
newyork crazy expensive. plus the tip. still love it though. been going there since 1981.
Darren, have a go at PJ Clarkes on 3rd Ave. Been a couple of times..burgers to die for.
Welcome to America. You will pay more, get less, and be happy! 🙃 Good exchange rate! When I last went to england and scotland, the exchange was double- NOT in my favor.
We’ve got a Andrew Carnegie hall as this is his birthplace in Scotland. I’ve performed on it too. The Carnegie Trust runs from here, near Edinburgh.
These days you can still eat absolutely amazing food in New York of course, but the prices had gone through the roof. They shrunk the burgers and charge more, unfortunately. Went there in February for work, we went out to a fairly local place, had a burger, 4 beers and some fries among the two of us, we paid 129$ not including tip, which is 30%. Glad work is paying for my expenses when on travels. Have a fab stay in the Big Apple, DJ and enjoy the fantastic food. 😊
All the way to NYC to drink British lemonade???? Try the City Diner on Broadway and Rosie O’Grady’s off 52nd street, have a Sam Adams butter for me!!
really like your videos have a great holiday and try a philli cheese steak please

Only if I go to Philly
I had a D.Q. Burger 🍔 and poutine while watching this Darren. I was shocked at the price. I guess, the tourist spots will always be less for more price. It looked lovely though.
Strewth, for that kind of dosh you could gorge on eight Big Macs in NZ, with about $8 left to feed the parking meter.
No! Carnegie Hall ain't famous for the Rat Pack, they are a mini-microscopic footnote in the long story of this famous temple of classical music! It's more like a very large Wigmore Hall. Tchaikovsky conducted the night the hall opened 133 years ago.
£45 that's just crazy call me tight but no way would I pay that Not sure if there is a Cheesecake factory in New York, if there is you should certainly give it a try.
Hello there Darren, the Big Apple ( Pie) We all think that we know about New York, well most of the USA. Let's face it, we have been fed it almost daily, The television has shown us our virtual make believe " real life." America 😂 Re the size of your burger, maybe the locals have been informed about the dangers of the full fat double size meals 🤔Or make smaller things, charging more. In fact less bangs for the dollar 💲💵😉Have to be honest, that's what I would call a bloomin great looking Apple Pie. I felt the enamel on my teeth started to melt 😁😬🤗 Even with the sugar rush, loved your not quite a senior moment 🤔. Keep searching for the best burger and share the hunt with us. Allan&Family
Would be bettee to have the camera pointing down at the food.

The table was 2 inches square, it's really tough sometimes
Evidently not quite everybody knows not to fall for the tourist traps, and eat where the locals eat off the beaten track 🤷♂️
Try the double cheeseburger with bacon & egg at Au Cheval! One of the best.
