I didn't think it was possible to respect Beard more than I already do. Taking the time out of his challenge to invite the kid into the frame, and talk to him like he's just another one of the guys shows outstanding class and sportsmanship. That kid's day was made, and he'll be showing his friends "that one eating challenge video I'm in" for years. As a parent, this is exactly the kind of internet celebrity I'd want my kids to engage with. In a sea of negative influences, Beard manages to be an effortless example of kindness and respect. Lady is wrong. It's not that buttermilk expands, but carbs and starch do. That's why you keep failing these all pancake challenges. You soak them in syrup, and drink a lot of water with them. It makes the bread swell up in your stomach. Meat and vegetables don't do that.

@Getorix Lady is not wrong at all, of course buttermilk expands in your stomach acid. This swells the pancake pretty fast and much more than water or syrup will do. Just facts!🙄😵‍💫

I went here after finishing a 280 mile hike across the entirety of vermont. I was on a crazy caloric deficit for a month, absolutely ravenous. I didnt even finish one giant and felt like i wanted to die. I had to sleep in the car for an hour before i could even drive

Beard letting people pop into frame and chat to him isnt what many YTers would do, makes him stand out on top of the rest

The absolute best part about you Adam is, I seen it, you totally stopped the challenge to take time out of your day to recognize and interact with that kid, probably made his day and when he tells his friends and they see him on the channel. Pancakes are an absolute monster. Even normal pancakes I can't eat much of, but I can put away a full pound of beef in a burger + dressed fries with no problem. Totally understand, valiant effort.

I know a lot are saying it but mad respect for how patient and understanding Beard is with fans and random people who want to chat him up while doing these challenges.

I'm not sure why that's something people have commented on so much....I mean I appreciate the compliment...but isn't that what everyone would do? The only thing that makes these videos worth watching is the social interactions...watching people just eat is pretty dull if you ask me....the more people get involved the better.

If Adam beat every challenge it wouldn't be near as interesting. His occasional gracious defeat and friendly interaction with other guests and staff is what brings me back! I hope you enjoyed my former home of New England (from Mass). Thanks! Dave J

The bad thing about pancakes is that they make you tired and make your belly stuffed.

Pancakes weigh you down so quick.

I wouldn't feel too bad, Adam. I imagine that pancakes behave like a sponge once they make it down to the stomach and expand like crazy. Even when you don't complete a challenge you're still gracious and pleasant to everyone around you. Bravo!

You know when the Bearded GOAT throws in the towel that the challenge level is off the charts. Those pancakes were as big as hubcaps, with a thickness that caused him to go through 2 whole bottles of syrup!! It's not very often we get to see the losses, so its a testament to your integrity/ transparency we all witnessed today. Even though the challenge wasn't met your still a huge winner my friend.

I love pancakes, but NEVER cooked any of that size. I considered mine to me like a meal since I've added fruit, nuts, and even certain meats in my batter. Most local restaurants I've patronized around the nation would brag about how "big" their pancakes were, but it's no contest; THESE are nice sized pancakes. Sounds like I'm going to have to visit this Vermont town. Hopefully I can get a trip close by. Lol!

Couldn't agree more with you on the difficulty of pancakes. I can put away quite a bit of food, but when my wife makes pancakes, I'm done after a couple. Not sure I've ever seen pancakes that dense before either. My stomach started hurting just watching 30 seconds after you started. Well, you blasted through what you could like a champ. Wonderful Adam. I was just asking myself "Why pancakes are hard to eat?". Is it because they become too dry when they are cold? How about asking them to make the pancakes AFTER you set up your table for video recording. That would keep the pancake moist and warm a bit longer. Good luck for the next pancake challenge. 🙂

This is so amazing to watch. Me and my family used to travel for work and stayed in Vermont for over a year. While we were there we ate at papa Pete’s almost every week and when I saw the front of the building I was like wait….then you went inside and I sent pictures to my family telling them. I tried eating just one back then and didn’t finish it but you crushed the first one quick!! Definitely try the cheese and maple syrup up there, it’s unlike anything we have here in texas

All that bread, sugar, eggs, and buttermilk make a great gooey expanding ball in the gut. Probably just as hard to leave the other end as it was to eat it. Great video bomb with the little guy. Keep the videos coming, as I didn’t know there were that many places in the world that had these challenges.

He has more of a challenge with desserts too, often times. It might be his body objecting to truly crazy amounts of sugar in one go. I ate whatever I wanted for my first 40 years as an adult, but at some point your body says "stop that or I'll hurt you bad". So now I eat good food, exercise more, and live vicariously re eating crazy things through watching Adam now and again.

Of all the challenges I've seen on your channel, this one is maybe the most dense one. You're obviously already incredibly skilled and talented, but there comes a certain point where I genuinely don't understand how one person can fit all of that and enough water to keep going in one stomach, especially in a dude who's not all that physically large. Massive respect for how far you got, that's already seemingly impossible. No doubt you could do it if you came in with a different approach another time

i never expected him to lose i watched alot of his videos during my bulk and i'd watch him as i'd eat myself although my portions arent as big as his i'd still watch him devour a table sized meal, this was trully a wonderful experience!
