Hi there! I just wanted to say thank you for documenting and sharing your fusion surgery experience. My story is very similar to yours- I’m also in my mid 30s with 2 significant curves, planning to have surgery at NYP in a couple months. I’m wondering if you’d be able to share how you are doing now, one year post op. Again, thank you so much for sharing your experience!!!

Hello! I’m so happy to hear you found this video helpful! I remember searching all over KZread before my surgery. Let me know if you have any questions!! I’m doing so much better now. I’m a year and a half post op and my low back pain from prior is gone. It was a long recovery but I can say now I honestly don’t think about it a ton minus my flexibility adjustments. I need to post an update video! I’ve just been busy with life which I guess is a good sign! NYP was great by the way!

I will say recovery is a marathon not a sprint. I had a lot of ups and downs during the first several months but it does get better. Just know the physical and mental struggles you might have are normal and it’s helpful to talk to family, friends and have a good support system in place. Feel free to message me here on on Facebook if you have additional questions. You’ve got this!

@@phanet4lyfeso glad to hear you’re doing great! I’m now almost 10 weeks post op and can relate to the ups and downs. Just reminding myself that recovery is a long journey, but will be worth it!! Thanks for replying!

I had blood work done the month before surgery to get my blood type (in case transfusion needed) and some other general labs. I also had a lung function test in the month leading up and the morning of surgery a last minute covid and pregnancy test before going under anesthesia!
