Rangers Matt Atkinson and Daniel Vermilya lead a hike about the history of some of the structures and properties on the Gettysburg Battlefield. The hike was cut short due to the hot weather.

I am so happy to see you Matt!! It’s been forever. You need to do more of these!!
Thanks, Stuffwriter for getting out and filming theses.
Matt Atkinson is my favorite Gettysburg Park Ranger...
Wow! Long time no see! This makes my week it’s so good to see you Matt! & so good to... well, know stuff writer is is still filming, maybe one day, these are the best
Thank you StuffWriter for taking this video. I was the lady that had to have a ride back to her car and couldn't take the walk, but made it back for the end. I enjoy your videos very much. Matt is a very knowledgeable and entertaining Park Ranger, and I really enjoyed Daniel's information too. Well done guys!
Woohoo Matt is the real deal, ty for posting this
Glad you’re back Matt😁You make history of Gettysburg fun and interesting.👍
Thanks Stuffwriter for a brand new Ranger Matt vid !! Always enjoy anything Matt contributes to Civil War history. Watched everything on KZread at least once.
Awesome! It’s good to finally see a new ranger walk with Matt. Daniel’s presentation was also very good. The best part of course is sitting on my butt in my air conditioned house to watch it.
StuffWriter I would simple say thank you I have enjoyed your videos for years, excellent entertainment. Tell Matt he is excellent presenter very informative and funny. I am ex British army and a wargamer just finishing ACW armies for my club... cheers
Thank you Mr stuffwriter for posting this it is greatly appreciated! I Really miss Matt’s lecture’s and battlefield tours , someday I hope to go there this man knows his stuff and added humor makes it so much more interesting!
Haven’t been to Gettysburg in nearly 30 years since I was a kid but listening to Ranger Matt definitely brings the enthusiasm to return with his charismatic approach!
Yes! My Ranger Matt fix finally😤
Shout out to StuffWriter for taking this video. I was on a Seminary Ridge/Civil War Museum tour of the battlefield which conflicted with this Ranger walk. But thanks to you Stuff, I get to enjoy this program too.
Finally! No more reruns! Thank you Stuffwriter for your content and thank you Matt for the entertainment.
Thank goodness for a new video. Great to see that Matt is still kicking. Hotty Totty to Matt.
MAAAAAAATT! Had such a crappy day today but seeing you just made it better no joke! And thank you stuff writer for doing this too. Went to see the new top gun movie tonight for the special premier and Lady makes a big to do about seats being off by one person and I go to move for her and my drink exploded down the front of me when I went to move. What sucks is I was a F18/F14 mechanic in real life and wanted to share that with family but it got ruined. Is what it is. Anyways I'm home now spending it here with you all!
SO GREAT to see Matt back!
That’s great Matt is back! He’s my favorite ranger!! 😁👍
Thanks StuffWriter missed the Great Teacher Matt
I've watched this Ranger Matt Atkinson since ancient times. Although his seniority is very low, his presentations are very good.

Funny you say his seniority is low, but he's wishing a happy retirement to someone who arrived after he did! I'd say he's been around a while.

love matt. the best ranger in gburg !!!!!
that was a very interesting video.. .Thanks Stuffwriter for getting this out for all of us to enjoy
I have been a fan of Matt for years and love his videos on KZread. I am a North Carolina country boy and have never been to Gettysburg. If things work out the way we plan me and my girlfriend are planning on going up there in the Fall. She is a Civil War buff also. I hope to meet Mr. Atkinson if we can pull this off!

You'll absolutely love it! Me and my Dad just returned from our trip to Gettysburg last week. If you can, stay at a location in town. We stayed at the 1863 Gettysburg Inn. I can honestly say I've never quite felt so much at home away from home, as I did when I stayed in Gettysburg.
Thanks guys, I have learned so much of the civil war and the details of Gettysburg from you two. I have listened and watched your videos countless times, THANKYOU!!!!
Good job, Matt. You make all of us from Chickasaw County and the Camp proud. Keep up the good work. You are surprisingly well informed for a UM grad.
Thank you stuff writer for all the ranger tours at Gettysburg videos. They are really appreciated. Don’t know why GNMP don’t put more stuff out like this for those of us who live miles away - in m6 case the UK!

Thank you I was hoping you were there recording this. I was the guy the rangers helped out with a ride. My leg gave out gave out on me not able to keep up with the group.
Matt is back! Good to have you all back.
I'm going to tour with Matt Atkinson again, he brings this battle of Gettysburg alive!
Great to see and hear Matt back again! More Please!
Matt great presentation, as always. I get I kick out of how you fill in key historical notes and command the company (visitors) when re-deploying in the field using lyrical segments from 70's & 80's hits, which serves to enhance the degree of erudition in your manner of speech, plus, you manage to correctly attribute all the songs to their original writer and/or performer(s). I managed to catch your musical references in real time, but am too fried upstairs to remember writer/ who did the singin' with the ease you display, I also reckon that you do this on the fly. Your rapid and sharp recall of hist. events, details and time (temporal sequencing of events), I know all guides GNP are adept at this. Gut, the way you operate the King's Eng. is really something to behold. Matt, you're best. Matt, we met briefly (other than my being in w/ a larger group) and shook hands; it was a Friday betw. late afternoon - early eve in late Spring approx. 8 yrs ago when entire staff of Guides, all wearing Class-A's for a Group Photo at Pa Monument. I live just under an hour away in Mont Co., Md. Daniel that was a first for me learning all that transpired after 1863 from you, no idea about POW's. You did a great job (watch actually listen for motor cycles that sound parked nearby, the engines never stopped the whole time you spoke, could hear you okay, BUT, OI had a better copy on the bikes. Thanks, again......Great Job, Daniel.
Staff writer once again another great video !! Thank you for sharing, Ranger Mat never disappoints !!!
Tomorrow at 0530 my Dad & I are leaving east central Indiana for a 4 day excursion to Gettysburg, PA. We also plan to take a day and visit Harpers Ferry, WV & the battlefield of Antietam. No doubt these videos have been well recieved by me. They have been an excellent form of both historical interpretation & entertainment. For that Stuff writer, I thank you kindly. 👍🏻🇺🇲

Good for her !!! Retirement was the best thing I ever did.....
YAY! Ranger Matt!!!!
Darn Matt, I should have become a ranger instead of a house framer... 😆 🤣 hottest of hot and coldest of cold days.
I spent 13 months in Mosul, Iraq in 04-05 time frame. Believe it or not it gets up over 118° in the spring and fall with it getting hotter in the summer. That was with a helmet that allowed no air flow to the head, long sleeve shirt, long pants tucked into cheap Army boots and a 60 pound body armor vest carrying my equipment and ammo. All while carrying a rifle and being shot at and dodging improvised explosive devices, hand grenades, RPGs and incoming mortar rounds. So, walking across a field in 94° in a shirt and shorts wouldn't be much of a problem.
Yay!! Matt!!!!
17:00 the moral of the story is, if you want to have airborne who don't end up dangling in trees, get the 101st? :D
Matt might be the only one there who knows what 'Stuff' looks like.🤘
I loved this tour including Ike and camp colt, prior to this tour all I knew was Ike’s home, he was good at managing people. By the way do you have anymore battlefield tours😉?
You should come out for the anniversary this year. Pretty sure Matt, is doing something on Saturday morning, with so many free speakers at the event tent. Then unlike last year, his wife? (Same last name) is doing Sundays tour of Pickett’s charge.
Dont care what the weather is i want that job
Is Ranger Matt Atkinson related to the Nathanial Atkinson of the Alabama 15th?
Did you all realize that there were motorcycles running for almost the entire time that Daniel was speaking ??!!

That one $1,000 farm (the Bliss farm?) in 1860 is about $34,000 today. And the first farm mentioned, costing about double that, would have been worth about double. To me, the whole area screams of nuetral ground there between Seminary ridge and Cemetary Ridge. Either side could take it but neither side could hold it.
Breaks my heart. My first visit to Gettysburg had to be cancelled due to important parts being closed and high gas prices 🤦♂️. I waited all winter for warm weather and green pastures 😢. Now I simply can’t afford it especially with devils den being closed up and little round top too I think. No way I can spend that much money and not see it ALL. I didn’t go the year before because I refused to go while the stupid Covid restrictions were in place. They didn’t even have ranger walks at the time. My luck isn’t good when it comes to Gettysburg

in 1857 1,900 dollars got you a house a barn and 53 acres of land. in 2023 my 2 bedroom apt with no land is 1600 dollars a month. Is there even paper in those dollars bills anymore or have they just been watered down to absolutely nothing?
