But, if you know thyself, and if you've been keeping head down and eyes forward-looking for MANY years knowing all along it's not you but Them (western women) that don't see your value, then you Will find the "one" in the Philippines. You Could be a flounderer and find a Filipina that's a flounderer too, but in my opinion, if you come in better than ever shape (in all facets of life), so at your highest stock value that you know better than anyone else, then you will find her quicker probably, mainly because You will be Ready and she will be ready once you get off the plane or a week in to your trip. The best thing to do is to take a discovery trip before moving to the Philippines. The country can be a dream for some foreigners but can also be a nightmare for others. Do some research and ask yourself if you're more of a city guy or a province guy. Then check out a few places, immerse yourself in the culture, its people, its amenities, infrastructure, etc. Filipinos are very friendly and welcoming and speak English, so you won't feel like a total outsider. But can you handle its disadvantages (weather/humidity, traffic, infrastructure, healthcare, poverty, slow pace, overall low standard of living)? After living in that particular city you should know if this is a place you can live/retire. It can save you a lot of money/heartache.

J, have you made that discovery trip to the Philippines, or have you just been doing youtube "research"? If you're under the impression that all Filipinos speak English you're going to be disappointed. In the provinces away from tourist locations you'll be lucky to find anyone who speaks fluent English. Even in the more touristy locations most locals speak broken English at best. It's rare to find Filipinos that you can carry on a meaningful conversation with, plenty is lost in translation.

I understand that not all Filipinos are fluent but you’re sure to find someone who speaks English if you need help anywhere. Try living in Thailand or Vietnam where you’d be hard pressed to find one in 10 people understand English at all. Filipinos having some mastery of English is one of the biggest reasons why foreigners are attracted to the Philippines. And if you don’t know that you need to make that discovery trip to find out if this is a deal breaker for you or not.

@@J-Tyson558 I haven't made it to Vietnam yet but I have traveled extensively throughout the Philippines, Cambodia, and Thailand. I honestly don't perceive much difference in finding locals in any of the three countries that speak some English. In rural areas it's more difficult, the Philippines included. I'm aware that there are fluent English speakers in all of these countries but the norm is limited or broken English. I'm not put off by this, please don't misunderstand me. But to say that English is widely used and understood isn't accurate.

That's a pretty serious approach I think. Some of the vlogs, they're almost like commercials, 'n if it's one thing I learned, not just in the Ph, but I'd say in Asia, it's never as good as it is in the pictures. Be it of the food, the aptmts whatever, if you expect like half or, sometimes way lower, you may not get disappointed. I brought my work, which I can do remote, I figured it would be good to have something to do, dunno what I'd done w/o it. Great vid. btw.

YES, 100%....most youtubers, especiall in the 'past', BSed ALOT and only showed and told, 'desperate' peopel what they wanted to hear. They told of a paradise without any negatives and builded peoples 'dreams' up and when one has very high expectations about anything, and then the reality smucks you in the face, you get disappointed, even when the good outweight the bad.

That last couple of minutes was heartening. That’s really nice.

Great video Chad, I went to the Phils a month ago without anyone. I met an incredible lady after one week while I was staying in BGC. Was very easy to find and couldn’t be happier so far. She works and has not asked me for one cent either for herself or her family and thinks that’s so bad for Filipinas to do.

Chad, it is good that you are pointing out the challenges. Videos and pictures tell a small portion of what retiring overseas is like. It can be and often is great. But, I think many are surprised by the challenges you can only understand when you are there: weather, infrastructure, lack of services, bureaucracy, and the fact that better dating options does not mean you will quickly find “the one” which means you will experience some loneliness and heartache. The videos can’t adequately communicate that. But, that is not the fault of the vloggers. It is impossible to adequately communicate it. All you can do is tell us in words what the issues are and those who want to go have to do some hard thinking to try to imagine, to the best of their ability, what it means for them. And, they need to make themselves acknowledge that they are underestimating the negative impact on them. Maybe then they will have somewhat reasonable expectations. They should make their decision to go knowing they may be disappointed but the only way to know is to go and see for themselves.

I think this video is so Important. I agree, some guys are gonna just pack up their lives and come out there, but you need to be realistic in your mindset. The thing is, nearly ALL the western KZreadrs have something in common, they are all easy going, positive people, the type that maybe make friends back home quite easily too, which can maybe scue guys expectations of what it will be like, but you can't just expect for your personality to change when you arrive there, you've got to force yourself to maybe be more outgoing, do things you wouldn't normally do, and most importantly form and keep friendships. All that does take time and that's even before you even consider meeting a possible new girlfriend. Thanks man, you always make the videos something really worth watching, this could have been a just a video of you on this trip, but you turned it into something for guys to think about.

I suggest that before you decide or even think about moving the Philippines, do some self-evaluation and debriefing first. Identify what are the emotional baggages, mental health concerns or anger management issues you might have and resolve it, so you don't bring the negativity with you. Dont use it as a way to escape the first world drama. Our country is NOT ideal for those who have control and narcissistic tendencies. We Filipinos, are wired to survive even the toughest battles. Do your research and you'll find out why. If youre looking for comfort and good infrastructure, THIS COUNTRY IS NOT FOR YOU. In short, its not for cry babies. Take it from a Filipino. Good luck! 🇵🇭😎

Nowadays it is used regardless the distance to the prairies, in any context, to say "deep" or under par.

@@ChadFosterExplores I made a mistake after I saw you replied I reread what I put not five hours 500 hours is a contributing year so I’ll be done by the end of summer of 2025 I’m already starting to sell things. Not for permanent residence overseas, but to have my house renovated while I’m gone. in hopes of renting my home if I do like it over in Southeast Asia. Or I’ll come back home after a great long vacation and have practically a brand new house. I should be able to get about $1500 a month rent off my place. Along with my pension and then eventually Social Security I won’t have a thing to worry about.

Chad, I have been in the Philippines for seven years now and that was after coming back and forth visiting for a few years before that and I have to say that this video and the message you organized about expectations for coming to the Philippines and the array of results possible.....is dead spot-on. This is the perfect explanation in my opinion. You covered all of the possible dynamics associated with any expectation a foreign (western culture) man may have. I will save this link and give it out to guys that I may talk to in the future. I got lucky to an extent and I have had a wonderful experience in my retirement here. I got to know some people prior to coming over permanent and that was my ace in the hole. I have always advised guys to set themselves up to give themselves plenty of time to have a look around before making their final decisions about a move but I have not ever been able (or have taken the time) to enunciate all of the nuances to consider and be aware of and you accomplished that with this video. Good job. Respect for what you are doing. I had already subscribed to your channel and I am clicking the likes on the videos I watch. Power on...

Hello Chad from southern Shikoku. I’ve been wondering how you’ve been doing. I believe there is complete truth to all your points in this video. It’s very useful to provide a balanced perspective of reality there. What you described in the beginning of this video is exactly my situation in Japan as I approach retirement age after living here going on 14 years - no friends, very limited to no dating opportunities and general social isolation. Being invited to join Japanese socially never, ever happens here. There is a lot to experience in Japan, but foreigners are always treated as outsiders. These are all reasons for wishing to relocate to the Philippines. Your message is very important to keep in mind - moving to the Philippines is only the first step. Taking action towards achieving goals is critical for success as is in any country. I’ll definitely be taking your advice when I first arrive. Thanks!

I just started a totally unexpected new teaching job here as an English teacher at a local private Junior/Senior High School on top of a mountain. For now, it’s a 1-year contract that will buy me time to get all my affairs in order to make my move. I’ve had a very unique experience in Japan for many years, but am very aware I’ve outgrown Japan now and it is becoming overdue to make a move. I tried my best to meet the right woman here and get married plus integrate into Japanese society, but there have been ongoing challenges and limitations here in the countryside. The Philippines will provide much more opportunity that has been lacking here in many ways although as you informed us, it will take time. It would be so cool to meet up in the future if it is ever convenient. Best wishes in finding what you’re looking for buddy.

@@jacked6 Sure, good options to meet people in the west; however, in Japan and certainly in the countryside, there are no meet-up groups, no expat community and the Japanese are generally very uncomfortable talking to anyone they don’t know. I never, ever have a Japanese start a conversation with me. Even someone saying, “hello” is extremely rare here. In fact, the Japanese even avoid eye contact! They are very reserved, conservative and normally absolutely hopeless at small talk or starting a conversation with strangers or often even people they know since they never do it. From my experience, the Japanese are completely unable to carry a conversation since it’s not part of their culture. Sure, you can walk up to strangers in Japan, introduce yourself and make an effort to start a conversation with the idea it could lead to a friendship - which I’ve tried many times - but, this behavior is NOT respected nor are the Japanese commonly open to it. Most often, they want to end the meeting ASAP. Even if you are successful at some light conversation, the encounter will never lead to a friendship or anything deeper than the one-time superficial brief meeting. It really has to be experienced first hand to believe. So sure, I challenge you to retire in Japan. Be prepared to live a very socially-isolated existence. I’m single and have very rarely eaten a meal or had as much as a cup of tea with a Japanese in going on 14 years. Perhaps a few times in 14 years. From my experience, the Japanese only associate with their very select, chosen in-group and certainly never express or show any interest or desire in building a relationship with a Canadian. I’m a home and land owner for about 10 years and never talk or say hello to any of my neighbors except on perhaps a very few rare occasions per year or two. In 14 years, I may have said no more than a hello to 1-2 people in my area where I live. Everyone sticks to themselves as much as possible.

Pragmatic perspective Chad. I enjoyed your video, as it offers the viewers an opportunity to be real about the possibilities, and opportunities available there, but as you said, it's good to take things slow, and be measured in your approach to life in the Philippines. Having said all that, my own personal opinion of that country is, it's the next best thing to Paradise here on earth ! Keep the videos coming 💥

The thing is most definitely for younger foreigners including myself is that you need to have a purpose before when you go to the Philippines or any other Asian country.Don’t go their strictly looking to date or to find a girlfriend there is so much more to the Philippines besides dating.So much to learn about there culture,history and agriculture.I haven’t even been to the Philippines yet and I just be looking at videos on KZread of so many foreigners in the Philippines just not learning enough about the Filipino culture.Its best to not get influenced by others but to be self directed.We all need to know why your going to the Philippines and what do you plan on accomplishing while your their.What do you plan on learning while your their when Filipina women acknowledge these things about you,you will get some of them the Filipina women to notice you.But if the very first few things Filipina women notices off of you is you just looking for a girlfriend and or just looking for a relationship and you are rushing to find a partner then you won’t attract most Filipina women to you only the ones that are desperate.I know because I talk to some Filipina women and they told me they don’t like the kind of guys who aren’t responsible and who comes strictly looking for a girlfriend.A lot of foreigners in the Philippines make the mistake of overly perusing Filipina women because here in America you have to do that and a women still won’t give u the time of the day.But in the Philippines you will know when a Filipina woman is interested in you and when she’s not.

I can tell you..meet some bargirls...some are very very nice and really do not enjoy their work. Many have college degrees..and are working to support their families.. I have meant several that turned out to be absolutely amazing.. just my thought

Definitely people need to plan for things like that. And yeah I can see how the excitement changes over the years but I think that applies to living anywhere for a long time you have to rely on other things to stay happy, healthy routine hobbies good friends etc.. appreciate you watching and leaving your thoughts, amping :)

Hey there it was kind of easy actually you go to the kawayan port and they will carry it onto a small boat, it cost me 200 for the scooter plus another 100 each time you get people to help carry it on/offso. Plus fair for yourself, that's another 200 each if the boat is filled

That's kind of a tough one to answer everyone will have their own opinion but depending on your lifestyle expectations a monthly budget of $1500 is usually enough. Some can do it for around $1K and some will definitely spend more than that it just depends on your needs.

@@jaredolson6189 my personal thought on that would be to have at least $10,000 USD. There are many things to consider, health emergencies would be a big one. Some would probably move here with less in the bank and be OK with it and others would have much more. Also depends on what your financial goals are if you plan on making any bigger purchases. Start up costs can add up depending if you want to buy a scooter/motorcycle or even a vehicle that would have to be factored in. If you are renting a house and you need to furnish it that has to be factored in. So it really just depends

Many guys think that if they meet a Filipina online that they will be their liason to the philippines. Most Filipinas aren't that well traveled even in their own country, so don't be shocked if they get you lost somewhere. This girl may not be the one for you, so keep that in mind, and whatever you spend is an investment in your own future in the philippines. Doing recon missions is extremely important, and going several times at different times of the year and going to at least two or three different places is ideal. Most people will start out in an area that is more westernized and then branch out from there, depending upon their comfort level and needs . Really sit down and make a list of your wants and needs is important as it will help you target a place that will make you happy. A girl is going to want to direct you to what is comfortable for her which is close to her family but you need to remember that this is your retirement and not her welfare department so do what is best for yourself and if she isn't happy then astalavista baby.

Great video as always Chad:) I have filipina gf now close to 3 yrs and I've been there and met her and we spent 2 wonderful months together. You touched lots of things in this video and I can relate . Being un the usa I've been miserable for I'd say the past 6 yrs there is nothing here but chaos and unhappiness for many here. I question myself why I want to come there and all I ever wanted was peace and a bit of serenity and its not achievable here for me. I've worked my whole life currently retiring and my finances after retirement will be approximately 3, 200.00 in usa and simply it doesn't go very far. My question for you is this a sustainable amount for a decent life in the Philippines? I'm ok with paying a rent for a decent place let's say 25k there and still even with the breakdown seems to be plenty leftover to live comfortably and be able to do the things I want to do there like go different islands etc I would really appreciate your opinion on this especially the amount I will be afforded as a retired person there.

Coming back in just over 2 weeks. So excited to be with my ldr Filipina. Ill spend 3 months there to look for ideal place to retire before I begin my retirement life. Was there in January for a month and had a blast traveling the islands.

just a warning,,,,short term trips mean nothing, i lived in cebu for 7 years, after awhile island hoping is boring, and the same after awhile. I grew up at the beach in USA, so going to beaches in PI were not that exciting, the food sucks, medical care sucks, mosquitos suck,,,,But in the short term its fun, after awhile its boring and sucks,,,,goodluck,,,,u better have a nice chunk of money saved for medical emergencies or other emergencies....
