This topic reminds me of neuron spike thresholds: there is a certain amount of stimulus required to trigger any individual neuron into an action potential. That amount is kinda arbitrary (between -70 and -55mV). To “spike” a person into believing you’re a genius (not that people believing you’re a genius will aid you in your intellectual pursuits; see “the observer effect”) you have to overcome their -55mV threshold, so to speak, which protects the network from overstimulation. Be happy the bar is high.
