I like this game. The story is supposed to be funny and ironic. The game play is repetitive but tries to freshen things up with mission rulesets and mutators. I think all games are given this hate treatment on release because people expect them to be the game that brings back the warm fuzzies i think we are all jaded.

The problem for me was never whether or not the game was playable. It was whether or not I wanted to play the game

Funnily enough I found that if I start videos being very aggressive in my word choice in the first 60 seconds KZread will actually throttle the video, but if I beat around the bush and am much more coy with how I phrased things KZread doesn’t throttle the video at all. It’s super stupid, but unfortunately how it works.

The story was good man! My perspective, having grown up on comics, is that in comics, everything happens. Like, everything! Every variation of every hero's story exists out there, it's part of the fun of it. Having a universe where this goes down and the League actually ends up murdered by these guys is totally in line with that logic and I'm here for it

The problem with this game is that the gameplay loop is very shallow. Throw in blue dudes, red dudes, yellow dudes, whatever, it’s still a shallow game loop with different colored enemies, and as long as they keep forcing you into these incursions with public event style missions it will remain shallow.

You have to be able to pay for it because like with every other game, if the season isn’t active, you miss out on the prizes for that season. So, I imagine that if the seasons are still free and playable after release - you just won’t get the character unlock if you missed it. They completed this full game, then cut all the content to release as “seasons”

The seasons feature permanent battle passes in this game. Funnily enough it’s a super player friendly feature that this game does better than other live services but I guess a lot of its critics wouldn’t even know because of how long it’s taken its seasonal content to begin.

Characters are always unlockable since worlds don't close and you have to pay for the battle you want.

I find the discussions about the game potentially becoming worth buying on sale kinda funny because based on the player counts the game might not even last that long. Gamepass would probably be the best option. Personally I would like to be able to play the game offline like I'm able to in other games. I'd even be willing to forfeit the battlepass to be able to do that because I don't need skins if I'm playing solo.

Wonder Woman is the only member of the Justice league that gets a respectable death. She played no part in the Arkham series beforehand so it doesn't make sense why she gets a heroic death vs everyone else aside from being a woman. Seriously. look at Wonder Woman's character bio vs. Green Lantern's. It's ok if you want to ignore what consulting firms like Sweet Baby do to video game plot lines, but at the end of the day video game projects have budgets. Consulting firms are not cheap. When you're required to put money into something, you have to take it away from something else.

After all that went down with Sweet Baby Inc, I don't really care if the game is getting better or not, I hope it sinks.

I expect them to drop this game as fast as they dropped the Gotham Knights.

Technical issues was the least of my concerns for this game.

I agree with many people. The only thing I REALLY DIDN’T LIKE was Batman’s death. It was just disrespectful. If you played, the Arkham games, It felt so disrespectful because you spent many many hours playing as THAT Batman defeated Harley like 5 times??? Saved the city against insurmountable odds MANY TIMES, and Harley just shoots him in the head….. no. Just.. no.

My guess for Season 1's play count is about 3-5 thousand in the first week.

The pay for joker option might be for potential new players who want to play as joker at the beginning of the story instead of having to wait for endgame...maybe.

What no one seems to be talking about is the fact that to actually beat the full game… the complete campaign story with all 12 brainiac variants… it’s gonna take 12 seasons! The in-game timer right now basically says the next season is in 100 days. If every season is roughly 100 days long (and if we add in time for delays in between seasons), it’s gonna take… and correct me if I’m wrong… 3-4 years to fully complete this game’s campaign story completely. How is that even possible? Is that math correct? Am I crazy? They’re talking about how it’s been such a huge underperforming flop and this is its last chance to prove itself…. The season 1 update… so how can it go another 11 seasons with the way it’s being called a massive failure? I just don’t see how we get all 12 seasons, a fully finished campaign and all that extra update stuff after season 1 ends. Do we get a new themed metropolis every season with a new playable character each time? Is the first 4 themed cities and new characters the extent of it and every additional season after won’t change? There are so many questions and this is such a mess. Idk how they thought this was a good idea to extend things this long, this way. (Also, I jumped on to get joker, and the game said I wasn’t far enough in my campaign - even tho I beat brainiac and went up a bunch of mastery levels - and that I needed to reach fear level (which is the seasonal level) 35 to unlock the brainiac fight. That means I gotta grind the same tired, boring missions AGAIN AND AGAIN to level up just to continue the story. So no, it’s not a quick 30 minutes of story to unlock joker. For me, I gotta grind a bunch again just to get there… which is absolutely ridiculous!)

The deaths in the game were so…anti-climactic. I’m sure the subsequent seasons will have more story content that will either reintroduce the superheroes or re-characterize their deaths. All the more reason to wait for a “complete edition” though.

This is the same situation that was in mk1 and Mk11, where there are main roster characters that you can unlock by playing up to the midpoint of story mode, but you can bypass that by just paying $5 right out the gate. Netherrealm studios are also under WB so this explains a lot, it’s tactics they’ve used previously.

I'm still mad about this game Low key when I got my copy I pre-ordered the deluxe edition didn't get the extra content until literally just now when this game updated witch doesn't mean anything now because I already got all the bane gear and black mask Bizarro and after a few week I can't play online at first. Still had a good time tho

I got this game on the PS sale for £40 got 50 hours out of it, obviously heard everyone thought it was shit and i mean yeah the story was stupid and how could it not be with the premise? but i never had any game breaking glitches except for 1 crash. The endgame loot is actually pretty interesting in terms of builds. I dont think this game is awful but its definitely not inspiring, its a 5/10 (i consider ubisoft games mediocre for comparison) the movement unironically feels great tho its actually kinda mad how long ive spent swinging around, its great to just a podcast in the background shooting shit. Another unironic praise i have is the world design, walk around metrolopis and try to find a street that foesnt have some referemce to the comics somewhere. Its a shame the story ruined it for a lot of people understandably.

Joker is also earned through the story and seasons won’t be going away so FOMO won’t be a thing. There is a menu in which you can go to each of the different “multiverses”.

@@j-niss I bought the game on a whim and have been having a blast with it. I do however understand a lot of the criticism about the endgame loop. The gameplay itself makes it easy for me to get on do some rounds and turn my brain off after work. Though for you I would say either get on a sale that you seem is worth it or wait until the end of the year to get it. Should have an offline mode by that point so the game servers going offline doesn’t matter and all of the already planned content for year 1 should be out (hopefully).

I always find it a little funny when people say "they deserve some credit for fixing their game." Do they really though? I would say that if they sold us a broken game for 70 then fixing it is the absolute least they can do, I'm not about to give anyone credit for doing the bare minimum. I get that this may comes across as rude and prehab's it is, but I'm tired of buying broken games and having to give the devs a standing ovation for fixing their game that I paid 60 to 70 euros for.

Honestly I thought the core gameplay was actually pretty fun they need to just turn this to a 4v4 arena shooter or even a BR anything besides a looter shooter
