That's some fertile soil for the grass to grow that fast✌😁

Yep Wish i could get some of that dirt for our garden lol
As a long time regular visitor of Arkabutla, you are very accurate. That grass didn't waste time germinating, thats for sure. Many times over the years ive walked the shore of the lake but now i can almost walk the lake. This is my excersice place and I'm here very often. Since alot of the trails are closed, i walk the horse trails, they do just fine but watch out for some horse surprises 💩😊. We first visited here in the early 80s when i was 13. After about 5 years of working, i decided to make Arkabutla my days off getaway. 35 years practically every day off, im there excersicing and enjoying the peace and quiet.

I first came here in the early 70's our Dad would take us camping and fishing here. Lots of great memories. Thank you for watching
It's amazing how seeds servive under the water and start to grow when kissed by the sun.

We sure hope it’s soon, but probably not.
Mr Mack. That was a beautiful place, and I am glad you shared the video and history . It's funny how mother nature can work so fast to cover the lake bottom with grass after being under water so long. It's just amazing.

We we’re definitely surprised at how thick and beautiful the grass was.
Wow! That was very interesting to see! Such a vast difference and so much lovely green grass. How long will the repair take so they can fill it up again? Thank you for sharing!

Not sure how long it will take, they haven’t given a timeframe for it.
I hope they get the repairs done quickly so all can enjoy the lake again!

Me too lol I think the worst part is the damage to the fishing industry around here.
Horseshoe Bend does that too in Arizona

Oh my I just saw your video, I made reservations at South Abutment for Oct. 8 - 11. Site 21 which I hope is a good site we have a 40 ft fifth wheel. My husband and I are coming from Alabama to check out Soth Abutment and North Abutment.

We just drove by there yesterday and the lake is filling up some, It’s still very low but doesn’t look as bad as in the video.
Because KZreads search sucks, I couldn’t find this video a week or two ago when I was looking for more than just the local news from 3 months ago, and to day it showed up in recommended. Anyway, thanks for the video, I need to make it out there and check it out for myself.

Appreciate you watching. I haven’t been by there in several weeks but the last time I drove thru it looked like the lake was filling back up.

@@SouthernBlessedHomestead that’s what my dad was saying. I’m interested to see how they fix it. They will likely build a temporary spillway and dam up then block off where they need to work. It would be a good time for them to install hydroelectric there, but I don’t see that happening.
Great video

Wow! Very cool that you got to see the lake dried up. Just a note this might be a good opportunity to get a metal detector out there.

There are Native American burial grounds out there that have been exposed and a group of people robbed them. Police are looking for them, it was on the local news.

@@SouthernBlessedHomestead oh gosh!! Yep you better steer clear of that idea then!🫣
This was pretty cool to see and very interesting Mack. Our rivers here don't have enough nearly flat froubd to do those horseshoe turns, that pretty cool. You did a great job. The music choice was good too btw. I wonder if what's happening up north impacts what they are doing at all? I'm curious about how the grass all sprang up though. It's beautiful however it came in.
