I feel you young man. I didn't grow up this way. I'm Mexican and grew up in the 70's. Our house was the house everyone hung out at. Whites, Hispanics, blacks whatever. My friends and I played R&B my brother was rock and roll. My parents didn't care who came to our house just as long as they respected it. You're absolutely right it starts in the home.

I grew up in NW Iowa in the 60s and early 70s. I was 16 years old at a national FCA conference when I first encountered black guys. We were in a small group and I got to talking to my huddle mate telling him that he was the first black person I had ever met and talked to. I told him "I don't know if I am a racist or not." His response was uncontrollable laughter. When he pulled it together he said of you have to ask that question there's no way. I'm 63. In this life I haveet both good and bad people. Both categories are full of every color on the rainbow.
