Tbh this style fits 3D Sonic more IMO Adventure all the way to 06 and arguably Unleashed aimed for a realistic style, but then Sega listened to game journalists and turned it into your generic cartoon rat

@@LiamSCL You're close, but the it's more that people would say "hire this man" for fangames that were literally just UE4 demos that only consisted of Sonic running around in grass field. The joke was the fact that people were so wowed by the lighting and graphical fidelity, they'd say "hire this man" for a fan project that looked and played considerably worse than anything Sonic Team put out at the time. It's less that Frontiers looks decent and more that Frontiers looks like every UE4 tech demo that looked cool but had little else going on.

Considering this is a game made by Sonic Team, it's safe to assume that it'll run at 27 frames. It's practically their trademark style at this point to poorly optimise their games. Remember Sonic Colors Ultimate? That was literally an upscaled port of a Wii game from over a decade ago and it still ran like it was Cyberpunk.

@@pufflepoint Its a pretty common phenomenon - you see it with long running series that are poorly treated by the developers. After enough burns, the trauma becomes their identity. They're actually only in the fandom specifically so they can have more things to complain about. It's all about the victim mentality - they can rely on Sega/Konami/Actiblizz/EA/who have you, to burn them again, so they feel victimized and validated when everyone goes around saying how shit the latest entry is. This is why you see them so excited to talk about how bad the newest thing is: at this point, they WANT them to be bad, it's how they experience the series. If it turns out to be good, then like, cool, but their victim card has been taken away, and it's so alluring to keep feeling good about yourself because a big company is hurting you.

@@ExValeFor Eh, dunno about most of the fanbase, but on my own case, I beg to differ. I don't love to hate- No, dislike Sega. Hell, I stand against the majority at times to defend games like the Storybook series (especially Secret Rings) from people who get their opinions copied and pasted from people who don't read basic instructions. But recently, Sega has been putting out really underwhelming additions, which each getting more and more insufferable. Forces was a disaster, both narrative-wise and gameplay-wise, and the Colours remake/port for the Switch and PS4/5, was so buggy and unfinished it required a day 1 patch to clear up most of them. Mania, yes, was well done and polished, but didn't really stick out to me, since I had never really played the classic Sonic games, and had started with Rush, Advance, and forwards; I didn't get the true nostalgia hype some others did. ^Realised I might've gone on a tangent, but the point I'm attempting to bring forward is that, no, I don't really think the entire fanbase hates these newer games because of the sake of it. I just think we've been let down so many times that optimism just seems pointless. Can we be blamed for believing so? If you think otherwise, please let me know.

its a meme about people back then when a few videos on 2013-2014 was having a bunch of UDK and Unreal Engine 4 with sonic slapped on it, fan games took a whole new approach in visuals so many of them slapped some highpoly sonic model and put it in some wide grass area. People unironically was asking to SEGA hire these type of fans that made content like that

It seems magically everyone things Frontiers graphics are "out of place" or "bland" when since the Game Awards everyone was saying "damn at least the game looks great so far hopefully it plays as good as it looks" One has to wonder what KZreadr they got that argument from 🤔

Im still wondering how sonic frontiers would look like we've seen some teasers but we really dont know much about the story others than sonoc getting chased by something and then what i can only assume is tails' voice then sonic goes to the voice and finds himself at a ledge realizing that he is stranded on an island
