If everyone ignored their comment, they wouldn't get any satisfaction from making it. Yes, agree with all of this Amelia! I will say, I was shocked when Tamara said after her big home robbery several years ago that she did not have any insurance. Everyone with luxury goods should spend the time and money to get adequate insurance, and keep receipts for all of it to prove what you had to the insurance company!

Thanks love. I find them interesting and will speak on topics that spark my interest. If people want to question my motives, it won't affect my character as I know who I am and what my motives are. I think on social media though, i have to accept other people may have an opinion on my character, and why i have filmed something, but i can't control that, only ensure i am content with my reasoning.

Every time someone blames the victim and says they deserve this and that for XYZ, I like to bring up that old feeble grandmas/grandpas exiting a bank are just asking to be robbed. They should know better than to be out in broad daylight alone without a young body guard. This usually causes the person to do a little thinking and pause to realize what they've just implied... A functioning society shouldn't be blaming the victim, no matter how easy they make themselves a target. We don't live in an ideal world, but giving caution vs outright saying someone deserves it is mind boggling.

100%….i agree absolutely. I get so disheartened when I try to express my opinion on social media in a way that doesn’t disrespect or denigrate anyone and then someone will choose to reply in a way that is belittling or personally attacking. Or I try to celebrate something and someone ultimately wants to try and bring me down. What does it achieve? Nothing. It doesn’t make that person seem just or right. It doesn’t improve anyone’s day. It’s just a lazy attempt to deal with someone’s own sense of inadequacy.

I’m satisfied this is not where I’d want to steal somebody’s purses even as the US has really attacked veterans - or criticize income unless it was really hurtful at the top of the business. You don’t come across where your husband is some kind of big government embezzler to a road project who has made people homeless or anything. That said I screamed yesterday because of all that and sometimes kindness and meanness is complicated.

An observation: whether it is online or “real life”, people who engage in nasty behaviour have usually experienced trauma in their life at some point and project their unhappiness and misery around all and sundry and, in many ways, the person who they focus their negativity on is irrelevant (although it can be very difficult for the person on the receiving end of the nasty behaviour). The way to deal with it is acknowledge it, know that the behaviour is about that person’s trauma (not you) and move past it.

There is serious fundamental flaw in our society that makes some people think it's ok or even entitled to "steal" - this can also be stealing of intellectual property not just physical goods. Replicas that take the same likeness (some cases identical) of luxury brands is a form of stealing but many people who buy these think its acceptable... theft is theft.

There is such a difference between challenge and attack. It shouldn’t have to be explained to people but unfortunately some people are not kind and gain some sort of satisfaction from it. I’ve received some very malicious comments in the past where the degree of anger directed at me for showing a bag etc was completely disproportionate. It was upsetting for me in the beginning but taught me a valuable life lesson and now I just see it as their problem.

The commenter is obviously watching Meredith’s content to know about the robbery, so they have an interest in luxury goods. IMO it is just bitterness rooted in jealousy. People have gotten wayyyyy too comfortable saying things from behind a keyboard and not getting a good slap in the face. If you wouldn’t say it irl, keep your mouth closed.

I never watched Meridith before- I'm pretty new to Luxury KZread. I feel terrible for her but I"m also worried for her. I understand the absolute rage and the despicable feeling of violation when you've been robbed of whatever is yours, regardless of what you intend to do with it. I've had my house broken into twice (not at the same address) and it's awful. Thank goodness Merideth insured those bags so she won't lose out financially. I understand saying it's not about the money, it's about the violation and wanting the person punished for their bad actions against her, but accusing the shipping company and even a specific employee of the theft... Yes, she did slip in 'allegedly' here and there, but not enough, IMHO. I hope that doesn't come back around to her if she's correct about what she feels happened to the bags. I'm not saying I disagree with her- just the fact that the employee knew she owned and shipped luxury handbags previously, she had repeated interactions with the same employee and even discussed designer bags... I hope Merideth can take to heart her own words, that ultimately they're just handbags that she planned to sell anyway- which doesn't make it right at all. I just hate to see someone in that kind of angry state, because whoever the thief is, they're not feeling bad about it. It only makes YOU suffer more when you have that type of anger built up inside. I hope she files her insurance claim, gets her money back, makes a full report to law enforcement and also to the shipping company and just see how it plays out without amger. I felt so horrible, watching her break down like that over what she has no control over. I earnestly hope she has the support from friends and family to help her get through this difficult time and just take it as a (HUGE) lesson learned and then moves on from this to a happier state of being. I sure hope that all came across like I wanted it to... I understand the anger, I wish I could take that from her because that's the hardest thing to deal with and it can really put one into a negative mindset, that's all.

We are very sorry that she had her bags stolen and she feels violated and vulnuable, but I do not think it is appropriate to use a public online space to make veiled accusations about a company or more specifically an individual worker. Leave it up to the authorities to investigate. It just smacks of online vigilantism.

Well said, Amelia. There was a time when people showed decorum. Many don't show that anymore. The internet has given the hateful a means to spew vitriol at others without consequences. I was just sick when I saw that Meredith was robbed. I can't imagine being ugly to someone at a time like that. I saw Caleb's interview when it dropped. It was fantastic. In the end, it is not necessary to agree, but it is necessary to be polite.

No one deserves to be mistreated. In general, people are braver to be mean behind a keyboard. Before leaving a public comment, it is best to think, "If this person is my best friend and who I really care about, how will speak to this person? How will I phrase my message/point? What would I say and won't say?" Generally, people become a bit loose in how they respond because it isn't a person they have a personal relationship with and they feel brave hiding behind a keyboard and screen. I've seen many videos with different point of views and contents. Most of the time I don't comment unless it is a positive one or a comment I feel I should share to add to the conversation / add value. Often times, people feel everyone should know their opinion and honestly that isn't always true. Everyone should be respectful even during a disagreement. During those times, almost always everyone doubles down on their stance. It is a wasted time and energy and generally respect and trust is lost. It is rare that anything constructive and growth come out of an argument. I like the old saying, "If you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all." That is a wise statement. -- Thank you Amelia, for providing thoughtful videos/topics and always willing to hear constructive feedbacks and grow. I appreciate your content always even though I don't always leave a comment. 💖

Yes. I don’t love every bag you have but I like your channel because you love them and you explain why you like specific bags, you never say, you have to have this bag if you don’t your this or that. You just talk about why the bags work for you or don’t and it’s helpful. I love your enthusiasm about your bags. You’re a sensible person but you have the means to buy these without putting your family after your wants. You’re doing it right and you don’t make me feel like I’m not good enough because I don’t have what you do. I remember Sophie Shohet telling about a friend who had his watch collection stolen - he wasn't on social media. The point being is that being on social media doesn't mean it's okay to have your stuff stolen, it doesn't mean that it's more likely (most content creators are very protective about their homes for security reasons). As for negative comments on YT/ social media, it's as much about how things are said as well as what is said. You can leave criticism in a constructive way, or debate an issue. I always think that if you wouldn't say something face to face, don't write it in comments.

I agree except the online aspect. If I put my social security number online, should I be surprised when people try to take advantage of that information? No.I could protect myself by freezing my social security number with all the credit agencies but bad people are still going to try bad things. It created an additional opportunity for a bad person to do a bad thing. It doesn't excuse the criminals either because in a perfect world, there shouldn't be people stealing things that don't belong to them but we don't live in a perfect world. Clearly I'm not saying she "deserved" or "asked" for anything. I am saying it's basically a personal choice of "How much information are you willing to put online?" And what is the cost/benefit to you? It's especially unfortunate for Meredith because she did use a shipping company she thought she could trust but they still violated her trust. I agree that putting information online isn't the main cause that people steal from others, but it also creates an additional opportunity for bad people to do bad things. I'm not trying to be negative to Meredith at all, she did nothing wrong however there was clearly a criminal willing to go the extra mile to hurt her, even though she went the extra mile to try to protect her things.

I cannot see any single reason why you would put that in the public space. You Tubers are the modern version of TV presenters, they just do all/ most of the production themselves. And while there is no "need" to put your personal info out, there is also no "need" for luxury. That's why it's called luxury and not a basic necessity of living like food. That's why my only point is that it creates the additional opportunity for bad people to do bad things. Someone could steal my social security number from private mail, or hack my computer, break into my house and steal my safe, etc but if I put it online I am also creating an additional opportunity that was not already present, for someone to take advantage of me. We can disagree on whether luxury is (literally a "luxury" aka) not a staple to have in order to survive, but don't put words in my mouth when I made myself VERY VERY clear that she never deserved something terrible like that to happen to her.

You need to be realistic if you’re going to do this as a hobby or a career you are going to get disgusting comments a lot & their is nothing you can do about it so make sure you truly have a passion for it before subjecting yourself to the trolls who will attack you, your family, your friends & anything else you share. The world is incredibly favoured towards those with financial stability so more & more people are turning on those who choose to show off their wealth regardless of if you see it that way or not you’re telling a public audience I have money to spare & when a portion of that audience is struggling to put food on the table you’re going to get backlash be it justified or not & making a video like this will just make them realise that it worked & they got a reaction like they wanted which will encourage them to do it again.

It’s not right that people do this but saying this has upset you will just make them more determined to get another reaction likely bringing more trolls & toxicity to you & your friends channels as they know it’s gotten to you both & most other creators right now won’t stand in solidarity with a luxury channel as it’s seen as incredibly tone-deaf.

We live in a world of haves and have nots. The divide is growing everyday and with that the anger. Targetting individuals is not the key to change but only contributes to the problem.

My mother always said, what you said to other people reflect you as a person, thus those "keyboard warriors" tap tapping STUPID & MEAN COMMENTS aren't happy with their life, jealous of others who are more successful, thats why, and also... please people, of you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all, if you don't like that content creator, don't watch, as simple as that!!! I believe Meredith’s troll continued with the odious comments on her KZread video. I was so appalled I felt like coming for that person myself, something I would never do. Just reading between the lines I feel that person may be mentally unwell. That doesn’t excuse the behaviour, but perhaps explains it. It has distressed me greatly seeing beautiful, generous Meredith suffer and then get this double unhappy with the troll. Thank you for being so brave and putting yourself out there Amelia.

@@ameliarosesclosetI sent Meredith screenshots and asked her to block the person. She said they will just make another account, which sadly is probably true. They accused her of making the story up for views and in another comment said if it happened it was probably Connor. Such a miserable person.

I agree with you. People who have been victimized do not deserve nasty comments. But, if you put yourself out there on social media, you leave yourself vulnerable and will get some pretty negative comments from people. Could be out of envy, out of spite. Could be someone is having a bad day and they need to vent at someone. I was considering having my own KZread channel about 8 years ago, but I've read some horrible comments the youtubers I was watching were getting and decided that I would not be able to deal with that.

There are ways to disagree without being hateful. I do agree, being on social media requires a thick skin, but people need to be more kind and respectful.

This is a really good point. It just shows that social media is a bit of a trade-off and you have to weigh the cost and benefit for yourself. But it also means we know women like Meredith and Amelia are some tough ladies lol 💪

It's one thing to say that someone may put too much info out about themselves online. It's another to say that they deserve something bad that has happened to them as a result.

I think taking personal jabs at someone says more about the attacker than about anyone else. It generally comes from place of jealousy and things in life not going their way and somehow see others as source of this. These are the people I generally avoid irl as well because life is just easier that way.

Hurt people Hurt people. Its not an excuse, nor a justification, but so much of the internet is about projection. I think there can be fair and valid arguments against luxury purchase, but in my opinion a lot is just envy, whether people do it consciously or not. And we also have a dash of internalized misogyny inthere too, a man shows off their car collection, and people don't bat an eyelid, but a woman dares to buy bags for herself using her own money and people suddenly have a problem?

People who blame the victim are narcissist and jealous of that person. They are weak, cowardly and selfish. Keyboard warriors are pathetic. They should stay quiet and or at the very least be respectful. We all have opinions but there is a place and time for voicing that opinion. Learn to read the room. Thank you for addressing this. I think the line is easy to draw if we draw it at consent (btw i am an American, which probably influences this). Meaning at the point where one person's physical actions infringe on another person without consent then it's just wrong, whatever it is. So when people say "so and so deserved to have their belongings stolen" what I hear is a person saying "so and so deserved to be acted upon non-consensually". I know I'm abstracting this out a lot, but I think it's important to really step back and consider how corrosive that kind of snarky comment actually is; the reason why it's not cool to "support" someone having become a victim of theft is that one is saying that victimizing others is "okay" on some level when I believe it's just not okay to ever tolerate. No matter how much I dislike an individual, I would never wish for them to be victimized on any level because there's no angle where that's ever morally justified. Without going on too, too much longer I think if anyone's resentment is turning towards wishing bad things upon another then I think it's time to go outside and "touch grass" (as the kids say). I think we need to promote more self-reflection when it comes to negative thoughts; where do they really come from? Is it really about the luxury bag youtuber, or is it that they represent (in a very symbolic way) something inside one's self that one is upset with but isn't willing to deal with yet? And that, if this all sounds rather deep and over analyzing, then maybe that's a good indicator that one does in fact need to step away from the computer, go outside and take a pleasant walk around town in the fresh air to get some other kind of input/stimulation.

That is beyond ridiculous that someone would wish another person harm because they choose to share with us their passions and ours. If you don’t like it for the love of god don’t watch it!!!!! Nobody is asking you to so DON’T!!!! I worry about my grandchildren and social media all the time. This makes me very angry!!!!
